Best car I’ve driven or owned
I bought my Mondeo not long ago at 120k kms. After all the bad things japanese car lovers told me and advised on American car. I will tell you this:
- Ford Mondeo beats all Japanese nonsense by miles.
1. Economic: 8,5L/100km city driving, much much much cheaper than my friend’s camry (10.2L/100km)
2. Power: my car is turbo charged, overtaking is literally at ease.
3. Design: HELL YEAH! It looks so freaking goodcompare to others in the same class!
4. Safety: 5 stars, 6 airdbags, thick panels all around the car. You feel very safe and well protected. ...Read more
5. Noise cancellation is superb, diesel but listening to music is such a pleasure with this car. 6. Practicality: my dad is 6’3. He said the car is ridiculously spacious. ;)) 7. Interior finishes are much more appreciated, with many extra functionalities ( hill holder, cruise control, abs, sensors back and front...) Final words, if you are young and looking for a first car, don’t go with japanese, imma tell you. The design and practicality of japanese craps are way too outdated! (No sensors even on 2012 models???? Wth) Get ford mondeo I’m sure you’ll be impressedSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Nice
I personally think that the car I chose to buy was a far more superior drive to even the newer ones I looked at. Performance is on tap, handling a little heavy, but I like that in a car. Hardly know it’s a diesel until you clock 900ks and still have room to move. Interior is hands on, easy to reach and navigate. Only dislike in this model/ year is where the window switches are located. Behind/ underneath door armrest. A little ‘ out of the way’ but 1st world problem. Being 6’2”, legroom is fantastic front and rear.

It never actually let me down on the side of the street, but it has way too many issues - STAY AWAY!
Performance - average
Handling - a bit uncomfortable
Noise - diesel, so not the smoothest ride
Major issues - Erratic behavior of the automatic transmission - QUITE UNSAFE
-Blowing black smoke - had to take it to the service shop under warranty at least 4 times before it stopped blowing black smoke that would get in the cabin.
Minor issues - Cruise control broke and I fixed under warrranty. It would never last more than 3 months, I would have to go again.
-Window auto down/up works intermittently
-Rear bumper bar are two sides that always come off - I had to reattach a few times.
-Floor mat holders (driver side) broke (cheap Chinese Plastic) within the first 6 months.

Better fuel economy than LPG
I drive 210km per day to work because I get paid good money, but the company won't allow anyone to work from home, even though we could. Sound familiar? I live so far away from work because I couldn't afford a house closer. Public transport isn't an option because it takes 3.5 hours doing Bus/Train/Bus. I want to see my family.
I've been driving factory fitted LPG Falcon Wagons for over 10 years due to their economy and room for large loads. But as Falcons are no longer sold I had to find an alternative. Looked at LPG Holden Wagon Cruze, Com...Read more
modores and a few others. Until I discovered Diesel. No one ever told me Diesel was so fuel efficient. It blew me away. I get 1,100km per 65 Litres on one fill up! vs LPG 650km per tank fill. I'm now spending half the time at the petrol station. My Mondeo has now done 260,000km. No mechanical issues, though you do go through brake pads & rotors faster or Ford service could be ripping me off? I'm told the brakes use softer compounds to increase braking power which results in quicker wear. Though I did 80,000km off the rear pads compared to 120,000km on the Falcon. At 80,000km Ford said I needed to replace REAR rotors until I pointed out that they changed them last time with the pads. 80,000km on rear rotors. I don't think so. Then later that day they said they could machine them. Ford ? $$$ Hmmm. I would have moved to Diesel years ago had I know about its economy. As for diesel servicing costs, cheaper than petrol cars because you don't have to service fuel injectors, they don't have them. The Ford Mondeo wagon's rear room size is the same as the LPG Falcon. Bearing in mind the Falcon has the spare tyre standing up in the back because of the LPG tanks. So no tyre in Mondeo equals same space. The Mondeo Diesel can tow a 5.5m aluminium boat. Mondeo has plenty of guts, BUT it does have something called Turbo-Lag. Sometimes at intersections you put your foot down and nothing happens for a few seconds. Then all of the sudden the engine wakes up and the wheels spin and you take off. It's a Turbo-Diesel thing I'm told. For me it's an issue when you're trying to whip out into a gap in heavy traffic. The "whip part" can sometimes not happen. You roll out. Anyway for me I just drive with that in mind and when it happens try not to be in anyone's way. I drive 50/50 freeway/city. I would definitely buy an another Mondeo Diesel, provided a bunch of University Graduates haven't altered the newer models and stuffed something up. Believe me, I've lost count of have many times something great has been turned to crap in the name of change. So make sure the reviews you're looking at are the same model car.Similar opinion? Forget about an SUV - get the Mondeo wagon
Purchased a 2012 TDCi wagon. Fabulous car for fuel economy & great safety rating. Drove Melbourne to Cairns, cost only $220 in diesel. Great with overtaking & on the open road. Not as smooth to drive around town, but only making this comparison to my previous vehicle (2012 Ford XR6). A very spacious, reliable, & trouble free vehicle. Had looked at SUV's in the same catagory, however price & vehicle boot size couldn't be compared. These wagons are fantastic value for money.

Great family wagon
Purchased second hand due to needing a wagon and better safety rating than our older car. The diesel is fume free, economical and quiet. I had to get used to the blinker being on the wrong side for Australia. The seat is very comfortable front and back, suitable for large and small people.

Ford Mondeo Station Wagon Feedback
My car is economical to run, and runs well, particularly well on the open road and long distances. However, it has now come up with a problem. When I drive over 80km, a message comes up on the dashboard." Transmission Auto Limited"
I have had it serviced every 10,000 kms and an auto transmission service at 50,000 kms. Codes have been hard to find and Ford had to drive it 60kms and over 80kms to find them. They corrected the codes and replaced the module under the gear stick and then it seemed it should be OK but the message came up on the ...Read more

Compact family wagon
Sleek looking compact wagon. Has all the trimmings including voice activated audio and cd player. Sea ts are comfortable with a good fabric and look. Tends to wear passenger rear tyre quicker than the rest. Excellent mileage on long runs. Electric windows with plenty of leg room. Perfect for the small family. Ample space in the bag for luggage or shopping.

Beautiful, simple car.
Just bought a 2011 Mondeo with 18,000 kms on it. Just like it came off the show floor. A little under power for a wagon but great to drive and sticks to road like glue. Nice driving position and plenty of leg room for the whole family. Huge boot space and a lot of options in car for anyone who needs them.
Had it serviced last week by Ford (very competitive on price), no issues.
Overall a nice, cheap to run second car.

Great car. Best Ford ever!
The Mondeo is a great car. It has virtually all the same fittings and accessories as our Mercedes and cost significantly less. The only fault I can find with this car is that it is extremely difficult to get the ignition key in. It's tucked away behind the steering wheel and you really need to open the front door to find the keyhole!
Other than that it does everything really well, without fuss, and once a year servicing is economical

This is a review for a 2011 Ford Mondeo 2.0 ltr TDI wagon.
I purchased this vehicle with a full service history in January 2015, it had 90,000 kms on the clock.
The Mondeo has now covered 123,000 kms. Aside from service items, it has had a filter in the steering fluid reservoir unblocked, at a cost of $50. There is no sign of corrosion on the bodywork
It has very comfortable positive handling. Very quiet, plenty of load space, extremely economical at 6.3 ltrs per 100kms average. It was fitted with new cheap Achilles tyres, these lasted for 3...Read more

Great economy
Bought a 2nd hand Mondeo 2012 Diesel wagon with 145,000 km with good body condition. It is very economical to run average tank 860km city driving. Had heard about transmission problems but made sure the car had an up to date service history and bought from a dealer not privately to give me the added warranty protection. My wife loves driving it. The 6 speed power shift transmission is intuitive when driving and has great pulling power up hills which for a 2 litre is excellent much better than my other car which is a 3.8 litre Mitsubishi. Very glad I bought it.

Fantastic family car!
Wow, what a great car our Zetec diesel has been. In 5 years we clicked just over 160,000 on the clock, without a single problem. The handling is great, the space is fantastic and the economy (genuine 6.3l per 100), for a car just a smidge smaller than a falcon, is off the planet! The only downside for us has to be the resale, I guess the popular vote goes to the SUV category, but as any of the other Mondeo owners will attest, you will regret getting a bigger car with less space.
If it weren't for resale and that we can't get a bull bar for i...Read more
t (we have now move out of town into kangaroo country) we would buy exact same car again. Highly recommend a Mondeo if you want a family car with a ton of space, that is comfortable and easy to drive, and has great handling. G. P.S. We still won't buy a SUV, even with the need for a bull bar!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great car for a great price.
Without doubt the best car I've ever owned. I have a pretty loyal history with Ford, well with Ford falcons that's is. Have owned quite a few from a 78 xb falcon to an xr6 and xr8, sedan and station wagon, but the mondeo is by far the most superior. I can't believe the resale value on these cars, we got ours for a song. Had it for a year now, we bought a 2012 titanium for its beautiful, smooth, super fast driving experience and HUGE hatch size.... Aaaand for the seat warmers! My husband and I can both lay head to toe in the back with the seats ...Read more
down, and we have a golden retriever that sits comfortably in the back. It's very responsive, has without doubt the best breaks I've ever experienced. We have the petrol model and get up to 800kms a tank on open road even when packed full, less around the city, on average 600kms a tank I reckon. Great stereo, parking sensors everywhere makes it bliss to park, and oh those toasty heated seats!! Has brilliant cruise control, and this thing has major guts when you hit the excelerator yet hugs corners even in the wet seemingly effortlessly. I feel really really safe in this car. Which says something as the car we owned before this was a Land Rover Discovery, nice car but cost us a fortune in constant repairs. Had the mondeo almost a year and haven't spent a cent on it. It should be noted though, some early mondeos had problems with the transmission and when we first purchased ours there was a strange gear change shudder type sensation when taking off from stand still. Took it back to Ford to update it's software and it's been fine since. Great modern car for a great price, it has so many luxury features, great seats with automatic adjusting, automatic lights and wipers, Bluetooth etc, in fact the Audi dealer said this mondeo had more features than some of his top end Audi's. Only thing missing in this model was GPS but we were fine with that. We love this car so much will be hanging onto it for a while to come.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

95% Great car, very happy owner.
The driving dynamics of the Mondeo are fantastic. I drive a 2011 Titanium Diesel with the Powershift. Currently on around 112,000km after purchasing the car with 107,000km. One of the things I love is the hydraulic assisted steering which gives you a proper drive feel compared to most electric assisted steering systems. Diesel engine is a gem of a motor. Very pleasant to drive. Recently took the car on a long road trip and it impressed me greatly! t with a little bit of urban driving. Fuel light came on when i arrived in Torquay at 1059km and filled up with 11L remaining which could easily get an extra 150km. Car is jam packed with features such as radar cruise control, voice control, follow me home, cornering headlamps which are a big plus. Overall very impressed with the car. Only cons are a few creaks in the cabin when driving, powershift hesitation at takeoff, especially when pulling out of a driveway whilst turning left or right. Would recommend!2 comments
Update: Transmission needs to be replaced. Bye Mondeo
Update 2: Managed to trade car in with a PowerShift on its last legs. Now I drive an FGX Falcon. Back to a slush box transmission so good!

Great car - Bad Air con
Overall I've been very happy with my 2011 Zetec Mondeo Hatch. Fuel economy is good in the diesel and handles very well with a large boot. The only let down is the Aircon. It's blowing hot air and fuses. Taken it to Ford three times and they can't fix it? Asked another Ford dealership in Adelaide and they advised me the cost would be too high and they would need to get it to an air conditioner specialist. He diagnosed it as It could be the compressor or bad earthing? as the gas was good.

Beware of the DSG
Well built car, ecoboost paired with power shift DSG was quick, smooth and responsive although slow to respond when pulling away from stopped. Equipment is a little dated now no screen for radio but it sounds great. I owned the Zetec and the seats were plain. Handling was good on fast sweeping bends but suspension was a little too soft for my liking. My owner experience didn't end well however as my service center didn't change the oil and filter in the DSG gearbox at 60000 kms resulting in the gearbox destroying itself at 90000 Kms. It is an $11000 fix! I traded it as it was and got less than $3000 for it.

Generally good
Bought the car with 75000ks and drove for 25000ks. The car is solidly built and handles well. Engine is smooth with plenty of torque.Fuel economy was great averaging 6.3 during all types of driving. I found the transmission at times hesitant particularly when accelerating in traffic and this was a little disconcerting. The air con is terrible, nowhere near as cold as it should be.

It's a ripper!
I had reservations but a couple of months into ownership it's proved to be a ripper. I believe it's sharing its 2.0L diesel engine with Peugeot and Citroen - the Ford uses their own transmission (Powershift) which is well matched. I came from a 4.0L Ford and this drives with a more responsive powerful feel. Finish is what you'd expect from a Ford. Has all the mod cons such as ACC and Sensors to make my drive safe. I'm averaging over 1000km for a tank (60L), so REALLY economical. On the road it handles really well, surefooted and tracking beautifully. Heaps of space, easy to use. Long trip a breeze, smooth and comfortable. Looks pretty good, feels strong - overall I'm happy.

JD Qldasked
Hi, I have a 2013 MC diesel wagon with approx 112 klms.
I've read a few forums about people having trouble with their auto trans shuddering and jolting whilst going UP through the gears and on take-off etc, but has anyone had any jolting/jerking/harsh gear changes occurring whilst stopping or when the trans is changing DOWN through the gears to a halt, or close to stopping, or even when just slowing right down to turn left or right etc? It seems to be when the trans is changing down from 3rd to 2nd and then to 1st, all the rest seem ok.
It does this on occasion at first, and then does it more the warmer the motor gets. But can also do it at unexpected times as well?? And it doesn't seem to matter if i pull up nice and slowly and gently, or apply the brakes to stop a bit more quickly, it still does it.
Anyone else have this happening or able to tell me what the problem might be?
It's an ex sales rep car so the books are very good, plus I had a mechanic check the car before I bought it.
He mentioned at the time that 60,000klm service had been done, and there was evidence of this as he noticed that the bolts had all been removed/taken off etc at 'some stage' as well..
So any ideas..?
Thanks, and Much Appreciated :)

Hi - I have the same car - MC diesel wagon. It's a really great car. Transmission started doing the same thing at 152000km and got progressively worse over a month or so. Eventually failed (google "ford mondeo dual clutch issues") and needed a transmission rebuild - $4400.00. 30000 kms later and all good (touch wood). Work ws done in Tullamarine Melb if you want their details.
Hi Garry,
Thanks for your reply.
Damn and Ouch! Touch wood that doesn't happen!
I was driving it again yesterday and it was pretty good, didn't do it much at all. It was an overcast day, so maybe the oil gets a bit thin on really hot days and makes the transmission play up a bit? Low on oil possibly/maybe??
I'm up at the Sunshine Coast so can't see the same mechanic as you. Thanks anyway :)
So does anyone know a good transmission place who won't rip me off, up here?
