Seriously reconsider if buying a Ranger for towing.
Ford Australia mislead and misadvertise the towing capacity of the Ford Ranger. As clearly when you tow with your vehicle as you can read all over the internet and haven been subject to it personally over 10 times. The transmission over heating. Shuts down all drive and power to your vehicle.
I contacted Ford Australia with evidence. Details and everything to assist requesting the take a serious look at all the issues people have with the transmission over heating. Was told i can fit a transmission cooler of my own cost to fix it if i want as F...Read more

Great ute so far, dealer is rubbish
Bought a 2018 demo XLT Supercab in September 2022, 7400kms on the clock, use the car regularly but have a work vehicle for the daily commute. Very happy with it, getting around 8.4l/100km combined, not towing anything yet. Very comfortable and great drive, have the usual complaints like interior components mark and scratch too easily and the paint is very easily scratched. My biggest disappointment was with Moreton Bay Ford. Delivered the car with only a half full tank, didn’t detail it, it was washed, and made no attempt to address the few pai...Read more
nt defects I asked them to look at, but the most disappointing thing is that I have had the ute for over three months now and still havnt had a follow up call from them to see if everything was ok. Ford Australia has some major problems with customer service, they are the worst in the field and once you have paid for your car they don’t care anymore.

The ute of the decade
This is the best ute ever. Very good on the diesel. And how's our 20 foot caravan with no problems at all with 5 of us included. Low maintenance and the reliable.
Purchased in January 2021 at Brighton Ford for A$60,000.00.

Excellent vehicle both as daily driver & tow vehicle.
Our Ranger is primarily a daily driver to and from work. Mine is an XLT High-Country - special one-off...very nice vehicle. I was in the car & transport industry for around 25 years and I've owned 35 vehicles to date. I'm happy to advise the Ranger is by far the best I've owned. We also have a 3 tonne caravan which we've towed as far up as Port Douglas and we average 2 to 3 trips a year. The Ranger has performed beautifully on every trip regardless of the roads or conditions. I highly recommend the PX2 Ranger as a daily driver & tow vehicle.

Great car and only gets let down alot by the Dunlop Grandtrek AT22 tyres.
I was given this car as a company car and I love it, the first time I drove it in the wet it was frightening! Tyres are horrendous in the wet and are useless offroad. I have had 2 flats in 2 years and I have only had 2 previous flats in 24 previous years of driving. Ford and Mazda know these tyres are not acceptable to most owners and still haven't done anything about it. These Grandtrek AT22 tyres are made in Thailand and that is the problem, the Japanese made tyres are fine.
Onto the positives: brilliant Apple Carplay and infotainment system...Read more

DISASTER DISASTER DISASTER
Engine and turbo blew while driving on major highway - car had 50,000 km and under 2 years old - had it towed to Goulburn Ford who are clearly not interested in any level of customer service - don't return calls or emails and are happy to sell their soul for their mother company. Ford deny warranty and at our own cost we have had engine rebuilt to diagnose root cause of engine failure - faulty fuel injector. This car held so many dreams for us and it has turned into a nightmare that has set us back tens of thousands of dollars and virtually crippled us financially. NEVER EVER BUY A FORD!

Very happy with the car
I usually use my car to drive between my family and work. I always use the car for about two hours each day, every day of the week. I get my car serviced once or twice a year. my mechanic has not mentioned any issues with the car and also the fuel lasts very well

Ford Ranger XLT 2017
Purchased last years runout in May this year. XLT brand new, paid $10,000 less than the going rate because we sniffed around dealers. Our local dealer couldn’t beat the Melbourne dealers price, so my review of the ranger definitely includes my advice to COMPARE dealers! The vehicle itself isn’t as nice inside as the Nissan Navara we tested but you can’t compete with how powerful and elevated the ranger is. It’s strong, and fierce and hasn’t missed a beat. Takes a bit of diesel but not out of the ordinary for a Ute of its power.

Great vehicle, however....
After a lot of research I purchased a new Ford Ranger XLT Supercab with Tech Pack in 2016. In my opinion it was the best equipped ute in its class and (again my opinion) by far the best looking. 2 years on I still love the vehicle. It has been 100% reliable with absolutely no mechanical or electrical issues so far. However I am extremely disappointed with two things in particular. Firstly the paint. I paid extra for premium paint and on close inspection you can definitely see the "orange peel" which I feel is poor for a close to $60,000 car. Al...Read more
so the paint appears to be ultra thin. It scratches and chips far too easily. Secondly the panels are almost as thin as the paint. Even when washing you need to be very careful to not exert too much force as even a relatively light touch is enough to push a panel in and as I unfortunately found out, it doesn't always pop back out. All in all, a fantastic vehicle with some very disappointing flaws.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Had my fx4 2017 for over a year now can’t fault it
I’ve pushed it to its limits bush 4wd sand snow towing and has performed out standing very comfortable inside (fx4 leather) best Ute I’ve ever owned I also had the previous mk1 2012 and enjoy it so much I had only one Ute in mind when I upgraded

Great car
Picked up my new ford ranger last week, it’s a great car with plenty of torque. The car is awesome, just unfortunate that the service from Binks Ford in Victoria was so horrible. I would highly recommend the car for around town or some serious four wheel driving. Ver happy!

Very dissatisfied
Drives very well when everything works (rarely) However I have owned my XLT for 4 months and its done 8,000ks.
Have had a never ending list of things going wrong/not working.
Voice activation is intermittent.
Cruise control was intermittent till it gradually became non operational (This may have been fixed replaced front camera after 4 visits to Trevans in Lismore) front sensor same as cruise control.
Engine loses power (like the key has been turned off and then back on).
Headlights are very dim.
Radio reception is very very poor.

Have an issue with the indicators flashing at double speed on half turn to full turn of the steerin
We have developed an issue with the left and right indicators? They are working fine, no blown globes, but when the steering wheel is turned half or more, they will flash at
Double speed, like a normal car would if a bulb has blown? Not sure what is causing this or if it is actually a feature we don’t know about? Please help?

Rubbish
Engine died at 46000km. Dealer has had vehicle for 7 weeks now and I cannot get Ford Customer “Care” to reply to any form of contact. Totally unacceptable. Seems to be a common problem. Ford can’t or won’t tell me if they have fixed the base problem so I expect that the same thing will happen again.

Very happy - exceeds expectations!
I've had the Ranger a few weeks now, and I am pleased to report that the more I experience it the more I appreciate it.
It drives very well for a Ute, more like an SUV in many ways. the steering is light at low speed (which is needed as this vehicle is a big unit to park) and combined with the ride is a good touring car - what a surprise. I towed a 2.6t van for a few hundred klms and was very impressed with the stability and steering as a tow tug. The engine power & torque for towing is adequate - not as strong as a V6 diesel - but better than...Read more

Happy so far
Beautiful to drive. Quiet and refined inside. Sync 3 system is fantastic but has occasional glitches. Had for 18 months / 40,000km and no problems so far. Does some farm work and haven't started a fire yet. Load carrying capability for a dual cab is good and towing capacity is great. Thirstier than my previous BT50, averaging 10.5L/100km.
