When only the best will do
I operate an adventure accommodation lodge in the High Country, my EU20i plus a few solar panels are my only source of power. They feed into a simple battery bank which acts as a reserve when not running the geni. I purchased the EU20i in 2002 and I estimate that it has done between 12000 - 15000 hrs. It runs every day, starts first pull and has never missed a beat. It started using a bit of oil last year so I took it back to where I bought it to see what could be done and was told that it would be best to just keep running it until it died. Th...Read more
at was 12mths ago and it is still running, a bit noisier then when new and a little smokey due to using a bit of oil. I found this review site whilst searching for sites to buy another for when this one finally gives up. The estimate of the hours is genuine and I am sitting here typing this with it running all the lodge lighting and power. I have a simple statement that goes "you get what you pay for" and I have certainly got my monies worth out of this. reliable, efficient Needs an hour meter and fuel gauge1 comment

Definitely worth paying extra for a Honda
I purchased this as a backup generator solely for loss of mains power. I wanted to cover not only our fridges, freezer, and lights; but also to run computers, phone chargers, routers, TV, etc. After a neighbour destroyed his freezer with a cheap generator from an auto store, it reinforced to me that paying extra for a good quality generator is a good investment. The 20EUi has a continuous rating of 1,600-watts, with a 2,000-watt rating for 30 minutes. While more is always better, with some judicious use and appliance swapping, the 1,600 wat...Read more
ts capacity is enough for my standby power needs. I was initially concerned that the EU20i would be too small to handle motor starting currents. I was pleasantly surprised to find the EU20i could even do multiple and frequent starts our water pump (a Davey 72101 that has a rated locked rotor current of 12 amps or 2,880 watts and a run current of 2.8 amps). With everything else disconnected, it will happily bring to the boil a full kettle rated at 2,200 watts. Do not be fooled by adjectives that describe the EU20i as “humming” or “purring”. At full throttle, the EU20i is a noisy device. However, if you do not need to start motors, turning the “eco” mode on will allow the noise level to drop appreciably. Certainly, this inverter generator is much quieter than the traditional fixed speed unit is. It is also lighter in weight than a standard generator. Light enough that my wife can pick it up and move it. The more economical fuel consumption of a EU20i offers the big advantage of less refuelling and longer running if fuel rationing becomes an issue during a major emergency. Highly recommended. Motor starting capability, light weight, portable size, fuel economy,

Honda EU20i - The Perfect Generator
wow what a generator virtually silent when sleeping at one end of my caravan i can barely notice this beauty purring away at the other only 2.5 metres away. Not only quiet the Honda EU20i has great fuel economy with an eco mode designed for running when full power is not required.
This generator can power nearly every device in my caravan with ease. It can even be paralleled with another Honda EU20I my preferred setup to provide double the power and still remain almost undetectable apart from the bright red outer casing.
Quiet, Lightweight,Great Fuel Economy
No Fuel Guage

Honda sell more of the EU20i than any other Honda product ... cars, bikes, outboards ... anything. Well done the guy who invented these little gems ... brilliant engineering. We are proud to be associated with Honda

or has a clean sine wave so you can run the most sensitive appliances, such as your lap top. I havent had any problems with my honda generator, I cant fault my honda generator, the only problem it can be a bit hard to start somtimes, mainly when it hasnt been used for a while. I have no problem recomending this generator to anyone, there not the cheapest generator out there, but your geting honda reliablity and quality. Reliability, light and portable, quiet and powerful. expensive, no on or off switches on powerpoints..2 comments
On/off switches are not needed. Its Honda's clever way to eliminate the possible failure of a switch

Great product.
Always reliable. Good fuel economy, even better if you use the eco-throttle feature. Good looking unit with practical features. Not cheap but worth the extra money. Need to change engine oil regularly, if not engine will cutout on low oil pressure. Don't buy cheap imitations.
Great Honda reliabillity. Compact size. Very quiet. Has an overload cutout. Inverter produces crystal clean power, no surges.
Sometimes a little hard to start.

good choice .. i love the saying about cheap machinery and that is "the thrill of the price is quickly overshadowed by the lack of quality"
Am having trouble starting my brand new Honda EU20i. Have done the oil, petrol and even checked the spark plug but no luck. Anything else I need to check ?
