A waste of money
Absolutely hopeless. Poor suction. Animal hair stays on the brush then the vacuum doesn't have enough suction to get it off. Instead of being directed into the bag, dust and grit collects around the nozzle hole and falls out when you put it on the charger. Expensive ($99) and useless.
Size and portability
Poor suction. Badly designed. Expensive because it's useless.

A Handivac is exactly what it is
Recently purchased to replace my very old hand held one. What a difference 14.4 v makes even from 12v. The suction is very powerful - its wonderful to pick up dog hair a grass seeds in the carpet.
Have dogs in my house constantly and found the power to pick up everything they bring in fantastic. It also does around the skirtings which my full size vaccumm cant easily get to.
I clean it out regularly which is quick and easy. This helps to keep the suction strong all the time. Running time seems to be excellent - did as I was told and let i...Read more
t run totally down before re-charging- great advice for battery memory. The attachments are great and help with getting cobwebs up high, skirtings and tight spots. As a back up to my big vacuum it is wonderful. Doubt I will use the wet option - Slurpex is the best for that. You will find it quite heavy because of how sturdy and powerful the motor is but I have used it for around 5 - 15 minutes for quick clean-ups and its fine.Similar opinion? Use this all the time
This handheld vacuum is more powerful than many on the market (14.4v) and has a good running time. We use it all the time for cat hair and kitty litter on the floor (ahhh, pets!) as well as around skirting boards. It comes with a brush attachment which is great for skirting boards, a narrow nozzle for tight corners or can be used with no attachment for floors. Much more efficient and less fuss than a dustpan and brush. Charge lasts a long time when used for small jobs - you wouldn't bother vacuuming a whole room as you have to stoop and the ...Read more
head is small - so I only use it for a minute a two at a time and charge it about once a week. I don't use it for spills as the filter has to be dried afterwords. For spills a sponge is much more efficient. Easy to empty. One of the best household purchases I have made recently. Compact, very efficientSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

where can i buy the bettery to replace ln new zealand auckland

Hi Paul, I found the following Battery on Ebay (Australia) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Battery-For-Hoover-14-4V-HH5010WD-HandiVac-Wet-Dry-Handheld-Vacuum-Cleaner-OZ-/151370857625. They want $63 for it and personally I wouldn't spend that money on a battery for that item. You may be able to buy one of Ebay NZ??
Other than Ebay I would have no idea where to buy the battery.

Hi Paul, the only place I found is eBay but I think it doesn't worth it. I bought a Dyson v6 instead for $300, using it for 18 months and it works flawless.

Can one buy the heap filter and where?

Hi Dods-Brooks I'm so sorry for the delay in replying but you would not believe the last couple of months I've had. I'm unable to answer your question because as yet I haven't needed to replace anything on my HandiVac. I take it that you have been back to your point of purchase? Perhaps go online and check out the Website for addresses for replacement parts etc.
I must reiterate though, that it has to be one of the best little HandiVacs I've ever purchased and the power has not diminished one little bit since owning it. A little hint for people - With my HandiVac and my normal household Vacuum Cleaner, I always put some of my Body Shop, White Musk Oil Perfume on my filters so that as I vacuum, I also get a nice fresh smell left behind. Once again, I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.
