Yes you do need a stand to charge it.

My experience tells me that you need to have the whole unit fitted into the stand to recharge after use.

One year and 3months after purchasing the vacuum, it decides to cut out during a routined vacuum of the living room, after being in top condition and only having been in use for no more than 5mins it randomly stops and flashes its light. I thought it was odd but thought nothing of it, powered it back on.. no worries, I continued to vacuum and after a couple back and forwards, it stops again with the same issue.

Anyone know where i go from here?

Anyone familiar with the vacuum only *pretending* to charge?

1 year and 2 weeks after purchase, the indicator light now blinks to show no power when you try to use it.
This is even after it has been left in the charging base overnight until the indicator light switches off to show that it's fully charged.

Hi, No I have not experienced your problem (mine is still working fine) BUT i would still contact the manufacturer (or where you bought it from) - under consumer law regardless of how long they say they warrant the product under Aussie law they may still have to fix your problem - this article is old but still accurate (and there are heaps more on the internet).

(I think its fair to expect any vacuum cleaner to last longer than a year).

Ours has just done this tonight after my wife left a glowing review for it yesterday. She went to use it to clean her car and it's not charged and will not charge. I drained it the day before and it's been on the charger all day and all night. We get one blink from the blue light and that's it, dead as a door nail. Will be talking to Godfreys tomorrow.

Nothing happened like this. Is the light flashing when you put it in the dock? So far it's going good.
