Outdated in comparison to it's competitors
Bought a 2005 model with 190000kms in 2022 for $4000, after a brutal test drive, it gave numerous issues from day one; blew a fuse that lights up the rear lights, alternator died and drained the battery, the cluster and speedometer stopped working, the accelerator loosened itself, the gears wouldn't change up when it should, the airbag light came on, the ABS light came on, the diff light came on, and 2 other lights I've never seen before. Besides all those issues, the ride wasn't very comfortable, suspension bounced very stiffly, the accelerato...Read more
r felt like stepping on a toad, the controls were outdated for its time, and it was very thirsty on fuel for a very sluggish V6. Seems like I may have had my hands on a lemon, but it surely is a terrible piece of motoring lacking engineering. The newer models are definitely far better and have come a long way, it amazes me how far Hyundai have come in a few years.Purchased in December 2021 for $4,500.00.

I love my Tuscon
I purchased my used Tuscon 3weeks ago from a used car dealership in Kippa-Ring. I love the style of the interior and the placement of switches and buttons.
It has cruise control - bonus.
Power windows. 17" wheels. Its high up, which is great. Its economical, low on fuel. I love that it cane with full service history, low kilometres and log books.
Sleek little SUV, well worth the money spent.
Purchased in November 2021 at O'Briens Wholesale Cars for $5,000.00.

Total Fail after a while
So I was thrilled when I decided to get this car. I was so happy with it to start with. Ran beautifully, great fuel economy, etc. I got it second hand but in great condition. Then after 2 years everything went downhill.
Now it takes a few goes to start it. Sometimes five minutes. It's eating through fuel. And it squeaks like hell. Taken it to 4 different mechanics including Hyundai themselves and no one can damn well fix ANY of it.
I spent $2000 on trying to fix it and it was still doing it afterwards. Mechanics apparently are at a loss....Read more
Scary thing is someone saw me having issues starting the car the other day and came over to let me know their Hyundai Tucson did the EXACT SAME thing. They ended up getting rid of it. I can't afford to at this stage but once I do I'm done with Hyundai.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Easy to drive and economic car
I bought this as a 2nd hand car in 2014. The pre-owner bought it in 2007 as a new car.
Handling easy for female and it's perfect on good economic petrol, air conditioning is good, seats and spaces are good for my 3 kids as well.
Only interior about the chair not come with leather but I bought a generic leather so looks good after that.
Even is a good model no bluetooth but I just need a handy car for daily drop off and pick up. Especially with kids, so I preferred the car which is good price and the function and of course no need to fix all...Read more

Does the job
This review is for the Tuscon City Elite. Not a bad vehicle, it does the job as a medium SUV. I'm 189cm and there was plenty of room for me a driver and front passenger, though more legroom would be nice. However with myself in the front there was little legroom in the rear for adults. This car is quite gutless, a 2.0L engine mated to an old 4 spd auto, on a vehicle that weighs 1500kg does not make for a fun driving experience. It's perfect for around town, but on the open it can struggle up steep hills and overtaking, and is quite noisy f...Read more
rom the engine revving high to maintain 110km/h, and the road noise. The seats are quite firm and unsupportive. I'd suggest go for the SX with cloth seats as the pleather in the Elite are horrid. On the plus side, there is plenty of boot space, especially once you drop the rear seats. It's quite frugal on fuel, averaging around 8.5-9L/100km around town, slightly less on the open road. It's reliable vehicle, giving us 18 months of trouble free motoring, and servicing is quite cheap. For a 2009 model it does appear to be lacking features compared to it's peers for that era, though does have cruise control, electric windows, and Bluetooth.Similar opinion? Love my car!
So happy with my Tucson - it is the perfect size for a medium family car. No issues, drives really well and has a decent size boot as well. A tank of petrol lasts around 10 days for me and is only around $55 to fill up. Would happily purchase another Hyundai.

Impressed of my Tucson
I purchased on Hyundai Tucson in 2013 with 80000KM in the ODO meter, now it has 160000KM.
Over the past 3 years I drove this care 80000KM twice to SA, Sydney and all over Victoria.
I am really impressed with this vehicle as it haven't had a single breakdown in the past three years.
I only takes it to garage to get it serviced and I do it every 5000KMs.
I purchased this vehicle for $10000 and its worth every dollar that I spent on it.
Its really good with acceleration and doesn't hesitate on the high way.

High fuel consumption
Recently bought a used 2009 Tucson City with 150K on the clock. Advertised fuel consumption is 9.2L/100km for city driving. Actual consumption is 14.2 L/100km driving conservatively. Not happy about that as it was a major factor in purchase decision.
Otherwise, it's comfortable and functional. Good family car if you're too fussed on having good acceleration.

192,000km.No issues other than a check engine light.I have purchased a code scanner and am awaiting arrival to determine cause.Presuming a sensor, that I myself will replace. This has not really upset the driving/performance of the vehicle but will be sorted. This is all that has happened.Still no leaks of any kind. The entire car has held up well but I have maintained fastidiously as any vehicle I own.All electrics in fine working order.Change all the fluids regularly...auto,transfer case, rear diff, coolant, power steering oil and all filters and qu...Read more

Great sized mid range SUV
Bought a 2008 model in 2014 with 60,000 km's. Its been great, no issues, beautiful look inside and out. Im 6'4 with broad shoulders and I have half a foot spare head space. Also extra height is great for getting in and out on dodgy knee. No mechanical problems yet and economy between 10 and 11 on the auto. Decent acceleration (not great on auto) gets the job done.

Great suv,
Had my 2009 tucson city SX from new. Best car i ever drove. Fuel economy is around the 8.8 on highway and 9.4 around town. As my son lives 2 and a half hours away i travel a fair bit. Would recommend this wagon to anyone who is looking for a good smooth ride, good fuel economy and a good ground clearance car.

Great economy
Love this car. Good interior and boot space. I've a 2008 model that had done just over 100000km. The only criticism I have us that when it's windy the car feels like it's drifting. I'm used to it now but it was a bit scary the first time it happened.

Very average probably wouldnt buy another
bought it brand new in 2009. Has now done 140k. Have had a few problems, the electrical system crashed twice in the middle of the night leaving me with no lights. I let it go 2000klm over for a a service and you could scoop the oil out with your hand it was so thick. Replaced a lot of hoses in the first two years and the latest is that there is no oil in it and its not due for a service for another 10k.

Love this car
Bought a 2008 Tuscon SX City in a country town and it's done 103000km. I love the smooth ride, the interior finish, the style and size but mostly the fuel economy on the open road doing 110kph daily and around town 50-60kph. i do use 98 fuel which I've done with previous cars as I get better mileage. Overall great value for money at $16000 with 3 year and 3 months warranty; brilliant and very comfortable to drive SUV.

Tucson City Elite 2009 - Excellent Compact SUV for the price...
Am really happy with this SUV. Bought it in 2009 and has served me well with no issues i nthe car. Service was cheap and easy, last year put Penrite Engine Oil HPr-5 and it become much more smoother. Comes with good features for a basic compact SUV FWD and given its the cheapest SUV with unmatched warranty offered form Hyundai, am full of praise for this vehicle. Was definitely worth an investment in terms of safety, economy, and SUV'sque capabilities.
-Price, Features, Fuel Economy (10 litres/100 kms approx), Superb handling, Low Maintenance, Very reliable & Safe.
-Bumpy ride on rough roads and a fair bit of body-roll at times.

Not bad
I bought it few days ago and i must say it runs smoove. Very quick on the hills but a bit hard to slow down from the hill, I like a cruiser control. I wish it has a possibility to regulate sound around the 4 speakers, and also having a hand rest higher would be a plus too. I do like extra storage under the passenger seat, and spacious boot. I have had toyota tarago so this one is smaller and easier to manuever at car park. Looks nice and my family is happy about it. I like the posibility to adjust the seat it has lots of regulators to suit d...Read more

Tucson 2005 Elite- Great Car to Drive
I bought Tucson 2005 as a used car with 95000 Km on the ODO. It has a 2.7Lt V6 petrol engine. Best thing about this car is its ride quality even after 7 years car rides well and feels perfect.
There were few minor things that I needed to fix that were neglected by the previous owner.
1. In cabin air filter.
2. Engine air filter.
3. Flush and refill break and PS fluid.
4. Clean and align all four break discs as they were misaligned.
5. Flush and clean the engine.
These repairs were not that expensive but after all that performance improved.

Nice simple car that I love driving
I bought a 2009 Tucson, MY08 upgrade City SX in April 2012. It had 32500km on it. Very basic and paid$22,430 for it. The car was $19990 ex drive away costs so I thought it was a very reasonable price, the car was in perfect condition. I live in a rural area and do a lot of highway driving, the nearest decent sized town is an hour away so I wanted a car that handled well on the highway but would still be comfortable in the city. The Tucson is perfect. I don't have a family but my German Shepherd likes coming for a drive. The back seats fold down...Read more
and I've been able to head to a mates property and camp in the car comfortably overnight. I've done long drives 6+ hours in it and runs brilliantly on the highway and is nifty to park at large shopping complexes. I love this car a lot and it is perfect for my needs. And others must think so because there are at least 5 other people in this small town who have the same car. My only fault is the engine is very touchy and does not like to be accelerated very quickly like when I have been sitting 80km/h behind someone slower in a 100 zone and put my foot down to overtake it kicks back really bad and revs highly even though I only put my foot down gently. But that's mainly due to being an auto. Other than that I can't really fault it. Love the car! Comfortable, reliable, perfect for highway or city Fuel efficiency, Automatic kicks back hard & revs highSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great SUV, bargain price
Own a 2nd hand 2006 Hyundai tucson city (2L, 2wd, auto). Had it for 4 yrs now. Paid $17k drive away when 3yrs old from a Hyundai garage, almost $10k less than the equivalent rav 4 at that time. Has as std electric windows, cruise control, traction control etc. Never misses a beat. Used for general commuting but also to pull trailers frequently. Handy roof rails for ladders etc. Back seats fold flat (front passenger seat also if need be) to give generous amount of space and versatile back window/door opening options are handy. Not the most powe...Read more
rful or fast but just keeps on going. Engine needs to be revved hard to get moving but once you get used to that it moves along quickly, easily keeping up with other traffic. Servicing is reasonable and is only every 15k kms. Get about 11L/100km for city driving which is similar to other SUV's like this. Easy to drive, comfortable, high seating position, some body roll when cornering but thats expected with the high center of gravity. Overall a great little SUV for a bargain price. Reliable, bargain price, comfortable and versatile Uses a fair bit of fuel, engine needs to be reveed hard to get it moving.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

How many liters of engine oil needs for 2.7 v6 hyundai tucson 2007 model?
2 answers
Wouldn't have a clue. I gave it serviced every 6 months. Great car.
Just under 5 litres.I do all fluid changes on car and if I leave a around 250-300ml in bottom of bottle it will be at correct level, with enough oil to do a filter change in between oil changes. You will lose this amount only when changing filter and can pour the rest of he bottle into the filter and spin back on.

Can a four cylinder Hyundai Tucson wagon not four wheel drive be taken on beach trips?
2 answers
Maybe.I have driven a 1967 Mini and a Suzuki swift on the beach.Of course you need to remember only 2WD- front wheels have traction.Ground clearance is generally ok.Beach conditions play important part.Compacted sand slight bog maybe, but stay away from deeper stuff or driving up sand dunes etc.Be prepared if having a go.Sand ladders/recovery tracks,a spade, tow rope, air compressor are good items to have in car.The 4cyl Tuscon(or even the 6) was not really made for off road driving and you would want to consider your insurance, but we don't have to be bored and not try to be adventurous. All terrain tyres are good too.Keep up speed if you feel you are starting to bog down. That's about all I can suggest.
If you like digging maybe. Just remember unless you have a towbar these vehicles have no rated recovery points.

One year after the purchase Tucson is still going good, E10 fuel works well with the car, cheaper at the pump with no impact on acceleration.
