My MFC-J6730DW brother printer sees non-genuine ink cartridges but still prints, the difference I've found from genuine is that the accuracy with ink volume isn't always correct

I still largely use an old Canon Pixma iP4200, so not a lot of help for you wanting a new printer. However, my advice is that you need to first determine what you want to print most?

If you mainly want black and white prints (photocopies) your best value is normally a laser printer - I used to have one from Kyocera that allowed you to buy economical toner refill packs so you didn't have to replace the fuser etc. at the same time.

I've only had Canon inkjet printers and they are okay. However, all inkjet manufacturers sell printers cheaply to make profit on expensive ink refills. So as long as you can get cheap replacement inks from somewhere like Ink Station you really just need a printer that does what you want to do the most, e.g. photos on photo paper, colour prints, B&W etc.

But be aware, all companies try and force you to get their original brand ink refills by adding more and more complex computer chips to their cartridges, so the printer will only work with 'approved' cartridges. So it is best to search for reviews on the printer you want before you buy it in order to verify that non-brand refills will work with that printer - if you print a lot, Canon and Epson have eco tank models that you refill with liquid ink, which should overcome this problem.

why did you switch to the nastiest cheapest cartridges? your product used to be good, now it's super cheap and the quality shows. My question is why when your product was good did you switch to cheap nasty ones.

Hi I am not part of Inkstations company, but I have recieved a Toner cartridge today and it is of the same quality that other after market sellers have provided me in the past, it works great and I guess if you are looking for such high quality maybe after market supplies are not for you, but at one third the price of a Genuine Brother cartridge I'm not going to complain. You may also wish to consider any changes Inkstation may have made in suppliers is very likely due to supply chain problems from China, given the recent virus outbreak.

No they changed their prices and the quality of their products months before the virus outbreak.

David

@Peter - it's not a case of looking for 'such high quality', simply product that works and to be frank the past two purchases I have made from them have failed (thats 4 cartridges in total btw - Colour and Black) and the customer service reps couldn't care less or even work to find a suitable solution. It's been a waste of time, money and effort. The Management need to look at the quality of the product and quality of the customer service staff. Nobody wants to go to the trouble of writing a bad review - so I guess things must be really bad for them (and me) to feel the need to do it.

Hi Brian,

I can confirm our current compatible inks will work with the HP 8610.

Note compatible inks usage is dependent on the software. Its advised to disable HP automatic updates to prevent the disabling of non-genuine inks.

Have you tried performing a printer head clean? There may be a blockage, however if you have performed this, it may be a cartridge issue, in which I would recommend contact us at "[email protected]" with a print sample and your order number and one of our staff will be able to assist.

1 answer

Ink S.Ink Station

Hi Joan,

If you are dong a lot of photos, its always best to use Genuine inks.

The cheaper compatible inks use a less expensive dye based ink, which will fade once exposed to UV light.

Genuine inks use the more expensive pigment based ink, which is archival quality and designed to last, even under UV light.
