False advertising - does not cool

published

We are all familiar with evaporative aircons. Heat is transferred from the air to water. Hot air is exhausted outside and cool air is fanned through the house.

This unit does not do that - Just a noisy overpriced fan effective at a distance of 30cm.

Of course this is false advertising. This is how TV Shop does business.

Purchased in at TV Shop for $299.

I have previously dealt with TV Shop and have no intention of going through another haggling session.
I am however, interested in letting others know that TV shop is prepared to sell goods not fit for purpose.

Don’t waste your money - no refund

Did not cool down at all in a 3x3 room. What is more frustrating paid $399 and was told no refund unless the unit was faulty. Well it is faulty as does not do what is advertised.

Works a charm. Love it!

published

Bought the smaller version of Instachill a couple of years ago and cannot for the life of me understand all the negative reviews. I run it with a fan and it works a charm. Living in Sydney there can some days that are quite humid, but my unit copes very well on those uncomfortable days. Always remember when running an air cooler like Instachill you must put it near an open door or window, otherwise humidity will build up in the room. Only down side is that it is too noisy to have on whilst sleeping.

Purchased in at Show TV Shop for $350.

I should have bought a $10 fan at Bunnings.

published

What a waste of money, It did nothing to cool down our guest room. My Mum couldn’t sleep because it was so noisy. I was later told that the reason why the sheets on her bed stank and were orange was due to her sweating all night. I rang the dodgy company that hoodwinked me. They told me that I should have prepared, and had 10 litres of water stored in the fridge ready to pour into the fan! Seriously, I need to stop drinking wine at 3 in the morning. NEVER again !

Purchased in for $396.

Disappointed

published

Purchased in Dec 2022 from the TV Shop. Advertised as an air condition. What a joke. Its the most expensive fan I have ever bought. Instead of spending $900 I should have spent $29 would have had the same result without the noise. I will never buy anything from the TV Shop again.
It arrived upside down in the box, a part was loose and floating around inside. Contemplating takung it to the dump.

Purchased in at TV Shop for $900.

I will refer you to this. Please take the time to look at your own ad for this product. When you google this product your ad clearly reads portable air conditioner. I have a snapshot of your ad and if it was possible I would have attached it.

waste of money

published

The machine is way overrated, Just turns the room into a sweat shop. And as for the noise well it's ridiculously loud. And trying to return the thing is a nightmare. You can buy an $89 product from Bunnings that does the same thing and heaps quieter. Don't waste your money buying an instachill.

It doesn't chill a thing! It is just a big noise, very noise fan that doesn't even swing side to side as simples $40,00 regular fan does... terrible! What a waste of hard work money... I'll try to return tomorrow to the store I purchased. Fingers crossed!

All of these units are utter rubbish you are better off buying a fan and saving money. They should be removed from the market. The marketing is dubious at best.
