Love my Jeep GC it ain't perfect but it's very good.
76000 Kms in to owning my MY 2012 Jeep GC Laredo. No Major dramas so far. Mine is fitted with a winch, a Snorkel, ARB Bullbar with Warn winch and has a performance tuning box to give the diesel a little extra pep. Vehicle has air suspension, factory navigation Quadradrive 2 and offroad adventure pack includes bash plates. It sees real offroad service.
The good:
The motor performance is insanely good, it is also refined, the fuel economy, the handling is almost sports car like in sport mode, standard equipment, overall reliability, Quadradri...Read more

Great car if you only work one day a week.
Do yourself a favour and buy a lemon tree. It is much cheaper than a very poor quality car from FCA .
If you have lots of free time and only work one day a week go and buy one you can spend the other 4 days a week at the dealerships to keep up with the recalls ( see recalls Australia, jeep is there every month ).
Transmission, electronics paint work, leaking exhaust system- and this is only in the first year!!!
Okay maybe not all of them are lemons ( they all have the highest recall rate) but god help you if you have issues with any of FC...Read more
A car. But then don't take my word for it check out ACCC FCA Australia. Google it and see what happens to thousands of people that bought a jeep and needed help. Even the ACCC found that FCA and their dealerships are mishandling consumer rights! Google destroy my jeep and get a review from more than 10000 owners, see if you can spot the trend... ;-) See why FCA Australia have a rating of 1 on Google and Facebook... Not even one good review. Don't say I didn't know! If you are lucky and got a non lemon one good for you but would you gamble your 60k on FCA? I did .. I lost! Want to see what are the common issues?

Love it!
I waited approx 7 months for my special order diesel Laredo with the (light coloured interior, Quadradrive and air suspension) to be delivered in April 2015. It was worth the wait! I love it. My other car is an '89 Nissan Patrol which has been the best and toughest rig ever over the years. The Jeep is like a different universe. The diesel goes like the clappers, is unbelievably frugal and the car is extremely comfortable. I haven't done many Kms ( 6000) but everyone of them has been a joy.The electonics via the touch screen are user friendly, i...Read more
ntuitive and work very well. Before this model I wouldn't have touched one with a stick but Jeep, with European input, has really done a great job with this model. It is a car that at last does everything for me...goes pretty hard 4WDing, tows, frugal, comfortable, quiet and handles like a classy sedanSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great car. Much better than expected
Terrific to drive on and off the highway. Had an electronic problem in the first month but since then no problems. Done 58000km including 23000km around Oz on and off road towing a 2500kg van Performed exceptionally. Very economical on fuel and plenty of power from the diesel
Will buy again. 10 out of 10

Love my Grand Cherokee
I have now done over 80K kms with my petrol Grand Cherokee and it hasn't missed a beat. It drives beautifully, like floating on a cloud, with a very smooth ride. Love the heated seats in winter. Plenty of room for the kids and lots of boot space for big shopping trips. Has plenty of power, although it can be a bit sluggish to change gears in normal driving mode at times when stepping on the accelerator. Tows my horse float adequately. It is very wide - can take a bit of getting used to parking in small spaces. The engine is so smooth in idle that I sometimes forget to turn the car off because I don't realise it's still running until I get out and hear the engine. A very good quality car for a reasonable price.

Falls apart after 70 000 kms
Took delivery in Oct 2011 of Laredo diesel and apart from all the recalls has been great car. Just before 70 000km lost air con, the condenser was cracked and had to be replaced (replaced by Jeep), rear brake rotors had to be replaced, ended up with a serious service bill. I don't go off road and tow a 1500 kg boat back and forward to local boat ramp, 10 km round trip and have done approx 400 km towing on a couple of holidays towing, can't understand why rear rotors are worn out but the fronts are fine. The engine warning light comes on now a...Read more
nd again, I ignore for 2 days and it goes away. Now for the left rear creaking noise; at same time the service centre had car for a month, gave me a great loan Suburu Outback, took the JGC apart etc. eventually found to be a rear suspension bush that they lubricated. Started creaking again so is back in again at 75k for another recall and back again for replacement of the bush, after 1 day they had to order more parts, after 2 days no news; I am back in the new Suburu Outback awaiting the next huge bill. Update: the weld holding a suspension retaining nut broke inside the subframe, the JGC was in for another month (another great Subaru Outback loan car) while they performed major surgery, it’s now fixed. Moral of the story is dont buy a Jeep, the quality of the parts is extremely poor resulting in multiple recalls and replacements outside warranty. What you save at the time of purchase you loose during ownership paying in money and time while the car is at dealer.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Fantastic!!
I am totally pleased with the purchase of my new CRD Laredo (First Jeep owned). The build quality and performance for the money spent is out of the park. Well done Jeep you have certainly nailed this model. I spent weeks researching various SUV and nothing came close to the same specification unless you went European and even then the ride and performance did not match. The 3.0ltr CRD is a peppy number and the fuel economy is < 9.0ltr/100km. It tows my 2500kg boat with ease and handles more like a car than a SUV. I'm hooked!
Update: Have now...Read more
done 84000km and not ONE single issue let alone a warranty concern! Service every 20,000km @<$500.00 is fine in my opinion. Uses no oil, and runs as smooth as a petrol. Will upgrade shortly to 2015 model. Everything! Price, performance, features, style, economy.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Great Performer
Bought a 2013 (current shape) Jeep GC 4x2 Laredo. Has clocked up 52,000km. Excellent drive. Has a lot of extras you would find in a more expensive European vehicles - heated electonic adjustable seats, retractable electric side mirrors, climate control, 8-speed German gear box, Michelin tyres. Cannot fault the vehicle. I use it mainly for my business. The only concern and why I did not give it 5 stars is the service costs. At 50,000km the service cost was $800 ( the service cost for a diesel is around $1200).

our dealership telling us ‘There’s no reported incident of this ever happening, likely had a tiny screen chip to caused this'. Even showing pics where it’s clearly evident the window puffed out (imploding) lifting from corners. Since this is our ONLY transport we urgently needed it repaired to get to wrk. Leaving us to place insurance claim for ASAP repair. I’ve read on other Jeep Forums of similar incidents in U.S.A resulting frm thermal shock/defected window. Should it be covered by warranty should we pursue the issue further? Advice/suggestions ASAP will be greatly receivedSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I too bought a lemon
My WK 2012 grand jeep Cherokee Laredo has been traded in at a loss to quit it before warranty runs out. Nothing but trouble for 2.5 years as engine warning light coming on time and time again with several dealerships attempting to resolve it I lost count of the times and days it was at dealerships trying to fix it
Then left hand head replaced like 7000 + in USA then exhaust gasket then catalytic converter ENOUGH! How could I sell privately and recoup lease repayments owed as I'm too honest so traded at a loss to get rid of it before it cost me...Read more

LAREDO DIESEL MY13 Great ... so far
Collected March 29. Done 3200Km so far. Paid extra for sunroof and air suspension. Little problems with the sunroof and the surrounding trim. Strange cut on the dash... Dealer says maybe when windscreen was being installed. All said to be being fixed... wonder when...
When we test drove the model it was a "had to have" - long time since we experienced acceleration like that!!
The engine is a sweet runner, with little noise from the cabin... Sounds a bit grumbly from outside though.
Low beam headlights are simply perfect... The high bea...Read more
ms are only marginally brighter than low though, so a bit of a let down there, after a great build-up! Air suspension is amazing, and we are very glad we ordered it... For now - seems a lot of stuff down that there begging to go wrong as it ages!! Fuel economy is all it promised it would be... High 7's on the highway, average in the mid 8's. Have yet to tow the campervan. Don't turn it off for a long red light... With all the hoohah needed to get it started (must be in P, must have foot on brake), it can get a little embarrassing and confusing, especially if you've never been an "auto" person before, and are trying to do it in a hurry!!Similar opinion? Brilliant Tow Car
We bought a diesel Laredo 2013 model with the new 8 speed ZF gearbox. Its primary duty is to tow our new 2.5 tonne caravan. It does the job brilliantly. The torque is enormous. The car spends its time between 7th and 8th gear and returns about 16.5l/100km when towing. Compared to the alternatives that's exceptional. The fit and finish and the cabin materials are not in the same class as a German product but then the price is not a premium either. So far all is excellent.
Just adding more information. With further towing for 2100km the fuel co...Read more

Want to love but concerned about the quality / reliability
Great drive, value and functionality but it's tainted by a number of quality and reliability issues (and the service costs are too much).
- Not even 50,000 kms and the left cylinder head had to be replaced due to wear and burnt valves (not a factory recall but common enough for Jeep USA to provide replaced heads with 10 years / 150k miles warranty - no such deal in Australia).
- On odd occasions the car would start then switch itself off, after 3 or 4 tries would eventually go. Got worse, turns-out the engine immobilizer was immobilizing when it shouldn't have. Needed an ECU under the steering column replaced.
.....plus two factory recalls.
Want to love but concerned about future reliability and the now out-of-warranty repair costs.

Bought brand new, needed towing 9 times in 3 years
Jeep grand cherokee laredo bought brand new in 2011. Within the 3 years we owned it, it broke down 9 times and needed towing. Was in jeep mechanics for 3 months while they tried to fix the transmission. They even shipped the gear box to Melbourne in an effort to try and figure out what was wrong with it. Airbags and sensors faulty, ignition problems and a range of other continual mechanical problems. The last time it had to be towed, the tow truck driver told us that broken down Jeeps (especially new ones) were by far the most common type of ca...Read more
r their company was called out to tow. Chrysler was unapologetic, evasive and offered no assistance. Not even a complimentary hire car to use for the 3 months we had to wait for them to fix it. Terrible car, terrible company, terrible service. DO NOT BUY! Bought a Jeep? Sell it quick before this car's reputation becomes so well known that it becomes impossible to ever sell it.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Fantastic car and outstanding value for money!!
Bought a 4x4 Laredo new in July 2013, had a few extras put on plus custom leather interior and still picked it up for $50k.
Drive quality: it's every bit as good as a $130k Range Rover, and more than enough power out of the 3.6L v6 petrol. It's done 50,000kms now and not a fault, still drives like new even after 19 months of daily use on very rough dirt roads. As a family car, I don't think you can beat it for the price and the build quality seems fantastic.
I would recommend this SUV to anyone after a quality, comfortable and affordable car. Will be upgrading to the SRT8 end of this year.

Agree service cost issue in Aus
Reason for 1100 cost at 40k is change of axle oil at 90 per litre- 3 litres required. Then at 50k service cost 1200 due to trans oil and filter change. Trouble is US and Euro service schedule is check diff oil and change trans oil at 100k Miles. Km and miles is not the same. Also engine oil change monitor said change eng oil at 18k. But Aus service schedule is to ignore that. BTW US eng oil change is 10k Miles not Km. Service schedule here is unreasonable and environmental disaster for consumer. This is 2013 Grand Cherokee Laredo 3.0 diesel. Really annoyed customer here. Shame as its a great vehicle.

Love the car. Issues starting to arrive
Had the Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo black edition since may, as for looks, comfort and luxury goes it's first class.
So far been into the dealer 5 times because there is a massive clunk when driving between the 2-3 gears in the auto. Dealership said was a software issue. Since then been in 5 times still no better. 7000km on the clock and glad it's under warranty. Unsure what will come from this issue will be once again taking back to dealer this week.

Great drive car.....but poor reliability & expensive servicing.
We bought our diesel Laredo new in Nov 2012 & have really liked it's drive manners both on & off road. However, its reliability has been a real issue. First problem came up at 10000km when the rear tail shaft had to be replaced when one of the couplings failed. That meant an enforced “holiday“ in Newman WA for 2 weeks while the car was repaired.....had to be trucked to Pt Hedland. Next issue was a leaking sump seal at 30000km that took 3 days to rectify and a $75 courtesy car bill from the Bunbury Jeep dealer which we thought should have been p...Read more
art of the warranty claim. At the 40000km service ($1160) performed by Kerry's dealership in Darwin, the water pump was replaced as a precautionary measure due to a visible red coolant stain on top of the pump housing...another full day in the workshop! We've just had the 50000km service done & another 4 warranty items have emerged including a leak “stain“ on the thermostat housing. There is 1 year's warranty left on this vehicle & its' reliability track record so far is disappointing to say the least!1 comment

Happy owner but will not buy another
We have a Laredo and its the best car we have had, but the service and price of spares are a joke. I was looking to buy another Jeep but went to replace one windscreen washer on the bonnet and Jeeps price $73 each, Repco price $6 for a pair, every time there has been a problem and there has not been many its been a nightmare dealing with Jeep. NO MORE JEEPS FOR ME
