Happy owner but will not buy another
We have a Laredo and its the best car we have had, but the service and price of spares are a joke. I was looking to buy another Jeep but went to replace one windscreen washer on the bonnet and Jeeps price $73 each, Repco price $6 for a pair, every time there has been a problem and there has not been many its been a nightmare dealing with Jeep. NO MORE JEEPS FOR ME

We to bought 2013/2014 Grand Cherokee Laredo Diesel Oct 13 & got dealer to fit ECB BullBar & LightForce HID spots. Would love to hear from people with regards to temp gauge & oil temp readings when under load. Ours fluctuates from 3/8 on temp gauge to over 5/8 and oil temp from around 98 up to 120 degrees as soon as it sees an incline. Worse when towing our quintrex tinny. Refuse to drive it on hot day. Been back to dealer 4 times & they say its within operating parimeters. Taken spots off & reduced temp slightly. Anyone else out there experiencing similar problems? Jeep Australia absolutely hopeless to deal with

I love my Grand Cherokee.
I love my Grand Cherokee. It drives like a car. It has enough space for my wife and me. It easily tows our Ultimate Camper and 1 tonne enclosed 2.5m x 2.5m x 8m aircraft trailer. I carry the auxiliary battery in a battery box behind the drivers seat on bush trips and it works fine. The average fuel consumption including 30% towing is 12.5L/100km. When not towing it will use 9.8L/100km at 100km/hr and around 11.5 (+/-1L/100km) at a genuine 110km/hr, depending on the wind. Towing at 100km/hr it typically uses around 14L/100km. I will remove the e...Read more
xposed threaded section on top of the OME front suspension struts with the angle grinder before the next big bush trip to stop them rattling against the inner mud guard. I was excited about the new model with more rear leg room, improved aerodynamics, even more grunt, bigger fuel tank and the spare tyre inside where the rocks can't chip the rim. My enthusiasm waned when I found it has fat wheels with a skinny spare. Where do you put an oversized flat tyre if you are fully loaded and 100's of kilometres from civilisation? Also I am not a fan of independent rear suspension. It's great for motoring journalists and rev-heads but probably not for long term owners, especially those that tow. In my experience the tyres wear unevenly due to the changes in camber with suspension movement, so they have to be replaced prematurely. I don't want to be let down in the bush so I am not sure I would trust the pump-up suspension enough to fork-out the extra money. For the time being I will tolerate the higher fuel consumption and increasing maintenance requirements with the old Jeep and take heart that I am saving on depreciation. Postscript: After nearly 7 years of ownership I installed a Green Diesel Engineering (GDE) computer remap. The Grand Cherokee now consistently averages around 10L/100km in normal highway driving. My records show a 9% fuel saving, with no loss of power. GDE claim this is achieved by eliminating fuel injector pulses introduced only to reduce engine noise. Some long term issues: At 120,000 km the serpentine engine accessory belt needs replacing according to the service schedule. At this time the belt tensioner and idler pulleys, including the alternator pulley (with in-built over-running clutch) were at the end of their service life. It is better to replace them at the same time as the belt to avoid a failure.1 comment

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo
Bought it new because of value for what you got for your money, much cheaper than Toyota Prado, however found that servicing costs were huge compared to fixed price servicing of other makes. Has been back several times with electrical issues mainly relating to auto headlamp and auto wipers not working. Finally told parts were expensive and that dealer would not order them and would have to contact Jeep Australia. Just before 40,000 k's began small coolant leak. Took into dealer to be checked (paid $1,100.00. For 40k service) told no leak c...Read more

Interestingly the breakdown towing guy said it was the second one he had towed that weekend withe same issue, sudden loss of all coolant. Had enough, getting rid of it ASAP. Economical but powerful and quiet V 6 Diesel engine Service costs, electrical issues unresolved, too many trips back to dealer.1 comment

I bought a Jeep- problem occurred but can't praise Jeep enough
I bought a new Laredo Diesel in February 2014 and it broke down after 400k's ( all done on expressway conditions. Problem was the diesel particulate filter. Jeep Australia were excellent. Picked car up within the hour and were constantly in touch until returned to me. The only problem was one spare parts guy who delayed sending the part ( which was in stock ) for approx. 4 days- he had no idea of customer service. The problem was the software update and the local dealer stated had it been run before delivery (which the selling dealer agreed he ...Read more
didn't think was necessary) the problem would not have occurred. The local dealer states he runs on all cars before delivery whether the diagnostics say it needs it or not. Purchased the car to tow a large caravan and look forward to seeing how it performs with approx. 2.9 kgs of van behind. Have now done 1700 k's - great to drive, great economy and hopefully no more problems purchased on price and tow capacity, good economy and comfortable to driveSimilar opinion? 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo diesel
We bought this to replace an ageing Patrol, mainly for using as a tow vehicle, for our 2.8 tonne caravan.
We just LOVE the new Jeep. It is a delight to drive, enormous torque, superlative auto gearbox, fantastic economy. Whilst it's early days yet (have had it less than one month), right from pick up from the dealer everything has been perfect. I just absolutely love driving it.
I'm really blown away by the engine/gearbox combination. The ZF 8 speed auto is brilliant whether in Drive, or using the manual control, and maybe why it's also in BMW'...Read more

Overriding those two matters is the brilliant towing ability and astounding fuel economy. 2000km caravan trip with a 2.5tonne van around the coast of NSW averages 14.9l/100km. Fantastic vehicle
I have owned a 2012 Laredo CRD for 2 years and I've travelled almost 40,000 k's with no problems. Great to drive, effortless power and great economy and comfort. Not as trying on long trips as a sedan. I'm so happy I've just ordered a Pinnacle Diesel. I would totally recommend to anyone.
Power, economy, handling, braking, quiet, value for money.

LOOK BEFORE YOU JEEP!
My MY2014 JGC Laredo was delivered to me at close of business Friday 28th Feb 2014. As I drove away I noticed the engine warning light had been on all the time. Manual suggested vehicle is ok to drive an doesn't need towing. Rang dealer service next morning told them I was annoyed they delivered it with a fault. Told me it should go away after a few starts and to contact them Monday if it hadn't. It didn't. Took vehicle back and they took it off me saying I can't drive it. They ordered a turbo seal and converter (presumably a catalytic converte...Read more

puter fault codes are often only clues - it takes someone with nouse to get to the root cause. It happens to Toyotas too. A family member just had a nasty experience out of warranty in a remote corner of the country when a new injector bored a hole through a piston. They are hoping Toyota will cover the $14k out-of-pocket expenses by common courtesy or court order! Great idea to get a loan car clause in the contract if you can.Similar opinion? 2012 Grand Cherokee - love it
Bought this Laredo Turbo Diesel in May 2013 and had travelled 20,000km by mid Sept 2013.
Travelled to Kununurra WA via the Qld gulf country (450km of mainly corrugated dirt) and then back home which included 400 km of reasonable dirt. The motor ran for 38 hours continuously from Top Spings back to Mackay. The car was reasonably heavily loaded including a 340l roof pod. The car ran faultlessly. It's now March 2014 & the Jeep now has 37,000 km (10 months old) and I still think that the car is good. If I have achieved 7.7 l/100 twice when I h...Read more

Very Good Vehicle.
I purchased a WK2 Jeep Grand Cherokee TD Laredo in July 2013.
Very happy with it to date with one exception in that I had an unfortunate accident and shattered the back windscreen.
Luckily my insurer covered the windscreen under policy conditions, but it would have cost $2800 to get it replaced.
They do not carry spares in Australia and it took 7 weeks to get one from the USA!
Windscreens O'Brien also said they do not carry supplies of front windscreens either in Australia.
So buyer beware. Lets hope that Jeep Australia does something abo...Read more

Most expensive service and major problems for a new car
Bought my first jeep grand Cherokee lerado 2012 brand new. First week drive was ok, till 2 week, the back suspension started making funny noise. Jeep service said the shocks leaking and had to be replaced. First service cost me $390. They only changed oil and oil filter. Took it back for 2nd service and paid $430. Same thing oil, oil filter and air filter changed, and they happily told me they updated my music system and starter button with new software. thumping at take off. Service updated some software and now reduced to a small thump especially when car is changing its gear. Jeep said it was normal to have a backleash in the transmission. I told them I owned 4 other brand new cars before the jeep and never had a thump in gearbox. My Mitsubishi lancer had a thump and they changed the whole gear box for me without a fuss. 3rd service at 24000 km and it costed $690. What the! The only thing different to the other service was the aircond filter change. I never had this done to any other new car I owned. They told me the 4th service will cost $1100 or more as it's a major one. They told me they also had to check other things such as door hinge oils etc. If I don't service with them I'll lose the extra 2 years warranty on top of my 3 years that comes with the car. This will be my last jeep, and will be moving on to a Toyota prado with cap service at $200 for 5 years. Roomy, air suspension to raise or lower height of car. to be valid. If your Jeep is still under factory warranty, the service stipulation does not apply. Unfortunately, warranty claims must be done through a dealer. If they are not competent to repair anything under a factory warranty, take it to another dealer, at least until the factory one expires. This is why I would not take out an extended warranty on my 2013 fiesta. I don't like being held to ransom.it will cost you $40000 to upgrade to a prado and you worry about paying $1100 for a service. By the way do you really believe they will service your new prado properly for $200 Get real.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo (CRD) 2013 MY12
Have now done over 7000km in our new Laredo. (3.0l Diesel CRD). Had read numerous problem reports with this vehicle but we have found nothing of the sort.
Standard driving it does around 8.9l averaging 110km and towing our 17ft caravan averages 14 -16 pending on hills etc. We drove to a beach camp near Coral Bay for the holidays and the car ran beautiful. Filled up in Bunbury, Geraldton and Canarvon only, so economy was great. Kids have plenty of room in the back and we had the Waeco running in the rear on the 12V outlet.
Did some serious 4...Read more

ing our van. Have given it a fair workout on the beach and in the bush with no problems. Yes, servicing just over $400 and $1100 for major service which hurt the wallet but still works out cheaper than a landcruiser. Rear window adjusted and no more dust. Have to agree with David about not liking the foot park brake, and also have found the plastic in the wheel arches / rear bumper does rattle a bit a low speeds but acceptable and dealer has offered to look at it.Similar opinion? Good
For my first 4WD I wanted a car that is comfortable around town, can tow a double axled boat and trailer and is a capable 4WD with V6 fuel economy for around $60k - and I have not been disappointed, this is a great car.
The diesel engine is outstanding, the 4WD drive system has taken a reasonably inexperienced 4WD'er to some remote country and through very sandy beach accesses in comfort.
The CRD is incredibly smooth and quite, and has outstanding towing capability (pulling a 2.8t trailer and boat). After 50000 k's the fuel econmomy around tow...Read more

Happy with this car, it has now got over 1000 kms under its belt and is the most refined and responsive car I have owned, I have been very impressed with its towing capability and the general way in which it goes about its business. The build quality seems very good, and there are no rattles or squeaks to report. The Diesel power and smooth transmission are both excellent. I have done some mild 4WD tracks, and the capability is amazing... Great Car.

Excellent 4x4
I have the grand Cherokee Larado diesel since October 2011. It's done 17,000km with out a hitch.
It tows the caravan well and averages 13lt per 100km and around town 7`s. This vehicle has every thing I need and more.
The service I received has been top notch, they cannot do enough.
Excellent ride and comfort levels, good fuel economy both around town and when towing.
