2008 JK Jeep Wrangler
My 2008 JK 3.8Ltr V6 six speed manual Jeep has completed 180,000km. Living in Western Victoria the jeep has been put through what I would regard as above normal wear and off road driving. I have to service the Jeep myself and use Castrol Magnatec oil and a ryco filter for engine service and castrol oil in the differentials, the gear box however is a dealer service affair as the transfere case uses ATF-4 and the gear box oil is brand specific and contains various friction modifiers and is blended to suit OEM specifications. Both gear box and tr...Read more
ansfere case oils are hard to find locally. The air filter was changed to a K&N filter to be able to service myself and never replace, just clean and reoil. The Suspension has been changed to a predominant local supplier of off road components and have thought that this modifcation giving 2-3" height advantage and greater towing ability has had an adverse effect on driver comfort. My JK Jeep in relation to normal service repair has only had a spark plug change, lead change and a new set of tyres plus the regular oil and coolant changes in four years, not bad in my books. The JK Jeep has Proven itself reliable and would consider another as it suits my needs in a country environment. I write this information as a four year Jeep Wrangler owner and have no vested interest in premoting this product only to give my expierence of the car. Some of the negative comments are true and this type of car is not suitable for everyone. It was explained to me that the result of the JK being made in the US that the Steering geometery is suited to the RHS camber of the road and may explain some Au road manners, but also noted that the JK jeep is designed as more off road than on and suits the design application quite well. I have had mine drop out of first gear some times, but please note this car has been well used towing above OEM spec's. On road manners can be very ordinary if the road surface is corrigated ( ala short wheel base 4wd)and tends to pull slightly left, (No camber or castor adjustment,RHS offset ball joint has been mentioned) and fuel consumption is rather high at 12.7/100km altho if you drive at 89km/hr you can reduce this to 10.5ish/100km. Most Victorian service centers have been friendly and prompt with service and have been supportive of the product they sell. The JK Jeep Wrangler is a car suited to people whom are a little mechanically minded enjoy outdoor life styles and whom have some experience with 4WD cars and it probally wont suit everyone, still happy I have mine despite some negatives. Simple, Moderately priced, Unique Styling, history of evolution, owner pride and off road ability. I wont hold back here, with the on road manners of this car can only be descibed as very average and can be quite disconcerning when driving over corrigated dirt or tar road surfaces. The stated economics figures of 12.7l/100km is correct and is expensive to feed, but keep weight of 1795kg in consideration. Service through authorised service centers is limited to major citys and service can be quite expensive, tyres ect.1 comment

Excellent vehicle for the money and features
Very cool looking vehicle, best convertable vehicle since able to open everything up, for the price able to take it off road.
One issue to look out for is when turning on sometimes just clicks as if bad battery but it is not, have to wait a few seconds and turn on again and possibly again but then does start. Dealer can not figure it out but internet searches says known issue.
Spacish, ability to cover all tarain, front seats very comfortable, easy to change oil
rear seats not comfortable, reat seat belts too tight on the body, hard to change spark plugs

I've had issues before with starting the car and hearing just clicks and then it eventually working - I thought it was the battery for ages, but after new batteries and numerous times at the mechanics... Read more
, my grandmother, of all people, told me that the computer in my car was just having a hard time reading my key. Once I started unlocking and locking my car with only the remote instead of manually turning the key in the door, I haven't had an issue since. I know it seems crazy but it worked for me.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good
Very happy with this car. Sound system is incredible! Handles very well on the road and looks like a very funky car - your friends will be envious of you! As an around town run about it is great, but if you had to do loads of k's would hurt in the pocket for fuel.
Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 2010 Funky looking car. A car which everyone looks at! Spunky with the roof off, very industrial car, feel very safe driving this car. Can hose out the interior - waterproof - great with messy kids. Pleasure to drive. Have had this car for 8 months and all good with the engine.
Heavy on the fuelpaint chips on hard cover top easily

Love Hate relationship. 2008 Diesel auto, four door hard top
Initially the car drove well but at the 1500 service the wheel alignment was changed to toe out. This made the car very twitchy on the road. Leaves you feeling uneasy all the time. Loves anything but a straight line. Lost numerous days off work due to recalls/ faults. The second time it had to be towed was 6 months after new and started to annoy me. It is supposed to tow 2300 kgs but between the poor road manners and really soft suspension, I don't recommend towing without a suspension upgrade which I had to do as no one from jeep could suggest...Read more
a solution. I understand more recent models come with an optional towing aid of some sort. On top of that the addition of a trailer prevents access to the back of the vehicle. A major problem for me. A new tongue had to be orderred through jeep for certification. Recently (1.5yrs)The carpet was found to be wet. Jeep replaced the roof seals 2 mths ago and I found wet carpet again yesterday! To sum up I am immensely dissapionted with this car. Don't buy one for on road use. Cheap to buy Really Expensive to maintain, Bad road manners, Poor towing ability, Plagued with problems,Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Live the Jeep lifestyle!
Before buying a Jeep Wrangler ask yourself; what do I want this vehicle for? If your answer is "it looks cool" or "a convertible would be fun" then buy something else.
The JK Wrangler is an offroad 4WD vehicle with some onroad ability, and nothing beats it offroad. But it is a heavy ladder-framed, solid-axled truck and does not brake, accelerate or corner onroad like a car or softroader SUV (like a Subaru Forester or Toyota Rav4 for example). Having said that I use my '08 Wrangler Sport 2-door as a daily driver & only take it offroad ev...Read more
ery other month for fishing & camping expeditions, however it makes a good daily driver as long as you accept the bouncy ride (courtesy of the solid axles and offroad springs & shocks) and truck-like handling. With fuel consumption at around 12L/100KM city it uses as much as a 5yr old Falcon or Commodore so it's not that thirsty really. As well as being quite good for getting around town (the 2-door is shorter than many hatchbacks so you can squeeze into some very tight parking spots) it is surprisingly comfortable on long trips (ie Sydney-Fraser island only stopping for fuel & quick naps)and returns economy of 9-10L/100KM so again, similar to a 5yr old Commodore of Falcon (not the brand new ones with the super-hi tec motors). And at the end of the day, the feeling of cruising down the beach with the top & doors off always puts a smile on your face. Just make sure you do your research and fine a good dealer,as many negative experiences people seem to have isn't with the Wrangler itself but with inexperienced/indifferent service personnel; find a dedicated Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealer and not a place that just sells Jeeps as a sideline to their main Holden/Toyota etc business. Relatively cheap purchase price (compared to other offroaders of similar ability), fun to drive, huge range of aftermarket parts and accessories available to personalise your Jeep Parts availablility from Dealers is poor (expensive and long waiting times) so it's cheaper and quicker to buy your parts online.Similar opinion? Good
The 4 door is an excellent option as it has the ability to comfortable take passengers where the two door is a tad difficult to get in and out of.
The automatic gearbox is smooth and still works well for the off road environment and unlike some 4WD's the road noise is not too excessive.
The 4Door Diesel makes for a fantastic 4WD. Functionality is astounding with the flat folding rear seat and plenty of room in the back when they are up. Two way tail gate is good for opening in tight spaces to put shopping in.ARB have a great lie up of upgrades...Read more

Excellent
I will never buy a jeep vehicle again unless it's just for off roading purposes or a wkd car.
Im selling this car and getting something else.
It looks good with some big tyres and a lift kit, and is Great off road!
Jeep Australia aren't helpful at all, I took so many days off work to fix my car for it's problems, including: the interior flooding when it rains, I took the vehicle back numerous times to be fixed, and it still isn't fixed. In the end I was advised that since I have removed the hard top and switched to the soft soft, it is no lo...Read more

Excellent
best car I have ever had. fitted slightly larger tyres and it goes anywhere. strong construction and if you like tinkering, this is the car to have. any amount of customising is available from the USA. ride is comfortable, even my 85 year old mother likes being driven around in it. Not for families as space is limited, but for getting out in the bush this is the car to have.
Great looking car, excellent and strong engine. With better tyres is unstoppable in the bush and just about goes anywhere. Any amount of customising is available for these
bit thirsty, can be noisy with the soft top on if it is awindy day, but I can live with that.

Wine has been accidentally spilt in the back of our brand new Jeep Wrangler JK Overland. It has run into the weather proof speaker and surrounding carpet, which we have been able to clean. However, 2 days later there is a strong rancid smell and we can't figure out where or how to get rid of it. Any suggestions?

I have a wrangler jk 2.8 crd with 3 doors. model 2017-2008.
I did it a body lifting.. and I put on 33 inches of tires, the wheelbarrows and the wheelbarrows, what I want to learn is because it is flying me speeds mainly on the 1st, 3rd, it does not hold them and I have to have the hand on the levers of gears, mainly in an anomalous way. the chassis is handled
.
Ηere in Greece I put oil in the car AMSOIL SIGNATURE 5W-30. I would have to get what thick oil.
what do you suggest?
I have also heard that with body lifting the engine does not work properly, just like the axle that drives the rear wheels. is true.
i will wait for your reply. thank you

road comfort and/or daily commuting car although it does a good job for me in that department as well. It all comes down to how you drive it i.e. take off in the lights like it is a Ferrari or you bought it for looks and expect BMW X5 comfort..etc....it is a rugged car and purpose built...look after it, and you will be fine. I am very happy with my truck with some modifications. Jeeps are built, not bought :)
