Rubicon, best 4 door Convertable on the Market :)
I had my Jeep for 3 years only did 20,000km in it before I sold it due to health reasons, only short drive to work, but I took it offroad a fair bit, beach, mud and did some pretty serious rock hopping.
The first 10,000km while the motor was bedding in, it stalled a lot too easily and was a bit lacking in power, but afterwards it started to get really fun. Traction control took the fun out of Doughnuts on the beach though.
I got good fuel economy on the freeway and open road down to 10.1L/100km with cruise control but only 17L/100km around to...Read more
wn, but I have a heavy foot at times. I loved the soft top, I never bothered having a hard top, from some accounts the soft top leaked less than the hard tops, I only got a couple of occasional drips from the top of the doors in heavy rain, it's an offroad animal so I took all the carpet out the week I brought it and put it back in when I sold it. Added 2inch spring lift & 5 position adjustable Rancho shocks and some 285x17's Mud Terrain Tyres and it was great. The Factory steel bars and Diff Locks & Traction Control made it near unstoppable. Soft Top, Traction Control & Rubicon Extra's A bit harder to find add ons for than Toyota or Nissan

Youre kidding
Horrible service & constant problems. My 2012 2dr Wrangler has been at the dealers more than I can recall. On a new car they have replaced the heads and today the clutch system went. They tried saying I needed a new clutch but luckily I know the problem is caused by the clutch line failure NOT the clutch.
I'm so tired of borrowing cars to get to work, tired of poor service and tired of the anxiety with driving this really poor quality vehicle. The expensive and dishonest dealers (1 in Sydney & 2 in Brisbane) are just doing my head in.
Just don't do it to yourself

Jeep Wrangler. Awesome
It is the best feeling to own a Jeep Wrangler, I purchased A Gecko coloured Wrangler 4 door, one of the last sent to Australia in that colour. This colour has turned a lot of heads and had a lot of comments and strange looks. The jeep boasts a powerful engine which is responsive when needed. Off road performance was very surprising being very capable at getting up and down mountain trails. If you want a fun drive then this has to be it a couple of minutes you have the roof off and your driving with the sun shining on you and the wind blowing th...Read more
rough your hair. The 4 door unlimited has plenty of room in the back for trips away. The modifications for inside and out are absolutely endless, you will have no trouble finding the perfect addition to your Jeep (The Jeep dealerships are extremely expensive). The other good thing about driving the Jeep has to be the Jeep community, the facebook groups are full of great people that help or advise on everything Jeep are fantastic. The Jeep wave also give a great feeling of community unity. One of my greatest moments was driving when 5 kids all shouted in unison " He Bought A JEEP" with a blast of the horn and a wave I set off feeling good about buying a Jeep. Buy one you will love it. Reliable, powerful, Great off road performance, good onroad, fun to driveSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

goes any where, quite robust
diff ratios, slight under power, leaking roof and leaking side mirrors

Good and bad
I don't own one but last year my wife and I had one as a rental vehicle for 6 weeks in Canada. Ours was the long wheel base 3.6 litre V6 auto. Early on I was very impressed. The engine delivered between 10 - 11 litres / 100Km and actually much closer to the 10 than the 11 litres. The problem started once we went on a gravel road. These cars are dangerous on a rough road. Before anyone thinks I can't drive then let me explain my country upbringing and driving around in old Holdens or later Landcruisers in all sorts of conditions. My own Mitsubi...Read more
shi Triton would kill one of these on rough roads. The problem is that they axle hop and you have no control. I drove the Wrangler right up in North Saskatchewan on a fishing trip. The last 250Km was gravel to the standard that I would have driven our old Corolla on without an issue. Not the Jeep, the steering wheel is only to hand onto and whether in 4WD or not it was very bad. Two Americans I met while fishing followed me in their little Pontiac and they even commented. If you get one then book them straight in for a new suspension kit before you do anything. Soft American suspension is no good. Engine / transmission excellent. Economical terrible suspensionSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Total 4x4 Pleasure
If you want a real 4x4 truck, then you should seriously consider the 2 door Jk Wrangler diesel model. Have owned one for a year now and have been blown away by the 4x4 capability of this vehicle. And to say more, this little truck can take you most places other 4x4 vehicle's can only dream of. Very economical on and off road, with no problems whatsoever. Have owned many 4wd's in the past but have to say that the Wrangler is on top. A very comfortable drive on and off road, and built like a brick s#%t house. Tonka Toy, For Dads.
I wanted a car to spark the enthusiasm in them I once had, one which would make me grin when in the pilots seat. I experienced that on the drive home when I collected it and it continues to grow on me. I like the flat body design, the cars simplicity yet practicality appeal and the materials used in the cabin and the quality of them. The JK feels tight, no rattles or squeaks and although some comment on the handling due to outdated suspension, I'm more than happy with it and it has a 2"lift.

CRD Auto overheats in summer, terribly supported by Jeep dealerships
I used to have a TJ Wrangler which was a great little 4WD that was built well. Having a family now I thought the Unlimited 4 door would be a good idea, in diesel and auto for the wife. How wrong I was. Now I had heard people complain about Jeep's build quality, but I loved Jeeps and so was not listening. First off, Jeep did not build this vehicle for a hot country. Australia and South Africa all have reports of the same problem with poor heating on the diesel auto. I drove up the Toowoomba range with 12,000kms on the clock in summer and t...Read more
he temp gauge flew up, the auto gear locked in third, and we began to lose power. I hobbled up in the slow lane to the top and it was all good... the problem disappeared. I thought it was a one off. Again that summer, I drove up to Tamborine Mountain but the problem was a lot worse. The Jeep virtually ground to hault, engine light flashing, locked in second gear up a steep incline. we waited five minutes and let it cool then hobbled to the top. Jeep Albion acted interested when I bought it in, but both times simply said, "we couldn't replicate the problem". I asked them how they tried and they tried in their air-conditioned shed. They also drove around Albion - not exactly the same conditions are they? Of course they couldn't replicate the problem. The problem disappeared in winter but every summer came back. I gave up on Albion as I did not think they were even attempting to fix it. They said they had never heard of a CRD overheating, which was BS - you can see on the web people talking about the same problem being reported to THEIR service centre. Salters basically gave the same response - can't replicate it so the problem doesn't exist. I am not sure what they wanted... perhaps a ruined transmission as proof? Now I have a leaking radiator, and I have had the same issues with squeaking brakes that other reviewers have had... not major but annoying. The main issue is that Chrysler/Jeep and the dealers play down and ignore the poor cooling design that is causing owners dramas. The transmission and air con share the same cooler, which is too small, and Jeep could not be bothered to deliver a fix. I would never buy another one of these junk cars. If they had fixed it and acknowledged the problem, sure I would be happy enough. But pretending there is no problem is appalling and I imagine Jeep will be headed back to being a small time seller of vehicles like in the 90's if they keep selling poor vehicles and not backing up their faults. I should have used common sense and bought a Japanese 4WD. My other vehicle is Landcruiser ute - virtually indestructible. Fun car, classic style, goes well offroad Overheats on inclines, in summer, terrible design of auto cooling system, atrocious support from Jeep dealers5 comments

leaking about 2L a week. Jeep has been off the road since beginning of December, awaiting a water pump because apparently Jeep Australia can't get a water pump from the States in less than a month. Ended up a 3 month wait for parts, including an idler pulley, which went when it was all disassembled. If you want to buy one, mine's got all new cooling parts, and it's for sale ;-)

It doesn't handle like a modern road car. In fact, it does nothing like a modern road car. Anybody who thinks theirs will be different to the one they test drove (even the shortest of test drives) is a complete moron. How about the losers who pick on its fuel economy - you can't be serious, its a 2 tonne square box, it can never be good. Hwy is even worse than the city because of the wind resistance at speed. It's unbelievable off road, even in its most basic factory setup. You can't look at it without smiling. It's not the sort of car y...Read more
ou are "weighing up" against other SUVs, because it's not like them. If you are weighing it up against another SUV, buy the other one you are looking at because you don't get Jeeps, and you will be disappointed. You will be happier because the other SUV drives like a Toyota Corolla, which is what you really want but society insists you must now have an SUV. Exciting things in life aren't practical or comfortable. Huge grin factor for a very reasonable price. Most capable off road vehicle without having to do all the red-neck modifications. I'd like it to have telescopic steering adjustment, and slightly wider/deeper front seats (the latter may be dealt with in the models with leather seats).Similar opinion? Modified - 2009 jk petrol 4 door.
I don't know where to start.. I waited 8 months to get the Vehicle in the first place due to it being heavily modified and the lease company couldnt get it over the pits and registered. But thats not the cars fault.
I had it for 3 days and decided to take the Mrs and baby on some light off roading, I hit a 20cm deep puddle to fast causing water to be sucked into the engine and destroyed it.
22,000 bucks later the engine was replaced and I drove It for about 5 minutes before it decided to turn itself off and not start again.
I got it back about 1 week later where I drove it for about 5 days before the ABS began randomly turning itself on whilst driving. Then it refused to start again.

Horrible after sale services
purchased the vehicle brand new, parts start having trouble within a year. we went back Jeep for the regular services, with each visit, they found something wrong with the car, yet after paying thousands they realise the issues was something else. we start questioning the ability of the people who did our services. Chris on Albion Jeep was extremely unhelpful. being a manger in the center, does not know how to solve any complain and handle customer frustration. poor communication and no customer services skill. very disappoint with this jeep experience.

Excellent Vehicle, only done 6500km since bought it new and still runs and purrs like the day i bought it. If i had to fault anything it would be the expensive costs in Australia for extra parts but found i can ship in directly from the U.S. and save load.
Realiable so far, love the Looks and very comfortable to drive on and off road.
the only con is probably the fuel consumption but like all im sure i was warned about that.

Ok, where do i start. we bought our 2011 jeep new. 4 months into owning it, the wet season kicked off in Cairns. after 3 solid days of rain, and very heavy rain over night i went and opened the passenger door, water gushed out of the car. i had to leave my car at the dealership as i did not have underccover parking. I had to hire a car for 2 weeks, which i had to pay for, while the dealership waited for new seals to arrive from Germany. Not long after that, the gear stick knob fell off, sometimes the air con makes a hell of a noise, which...Read more
frightened the daylights out of you while you are driving and the brakes started to squeal all the time. we took Jeep back to dealership, they machined them and said that they are glazing over, this went on for months, new brakes were applied under warranty, but it still continued, we had them glazed 3 more times. The dealership told us that it might be best to put after market brakes on, but it would be at our cost. we did this, but they put them on for free. in the 2012 wet season, the jeep continued to leak, but to no where as bad as before. to be honest we were so over it, it wasnt worth going back to Jeep...But we have just had our 2 year service, and i asked for them to inspect a clunking noise from the rear. upon investigation they found the source of the noise coming from lateral movement of the tail shaft splined slip joint. We are currently in the process of getting it fixed and demanding for a fair trade in so we can get rid of it before anything else goes wrong with it. As we say when some else going wrong " it's a Jeep thing". Before you buy a jeep, google " leaky jeep" The look Everything, leaks, squeaky breaks, noisy air con, tail shaft stuffed...1 comment

Lousy Front End
Our jeep is a 2008 Rubicon Unlimited with 198,000 km so far. Changed the stock tires at 150,000 km, which was pretty amazing. Went with Federal Couragia MT's and they started cracking on both sides on all four tires. They looked great and the price was reasonable, but they're not designed for Canadian winters I reckon.
Now, on with the real issues. The rubicon developed a leak from the front passenger axel seal at around 40,000 km. Dodge replaced it. It reoccured at 70,000 km and because we were a week over the warranty period, they wouldn't...Read more
honour the repair and tried to stiff us for $880.00. As they were doing some other tests (fishing), they shorted out our main computer and we forced to replace that and eat the labour too. (Karma) The jeep developed the dreaded "Death Wobble" early into it's 100,000 km life and the dealership blamed a weak steering stabilizer and changed it at our cost. The problem came back and dodge couldn't figure it out. We went to an off-road shop and they installed a heavier stabilizer. No luck. Brought it back and they put on a bracket to reduce angle. No luck. They tried a modified Rancho 5000 and it lasted a month and actually broke off on the highway. Now the upper and lower ball joints are loose and the computer is acting up again with regards to the ESP, low tire warning and traction control.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Just a follow up to this car, I just had it serviced at Perth. Quoted $1500 and billed for $1800 no reason given as to why and bill was not itemised. On top of that, I found out I have bad ball joints, steering ram and a leak at the main seal as well as 4 blown shock absorbers, none of which Jeep honoured under warranty despite a perfect service record. This is tha last straw, I will never buy another Jeep and will tell the thousands of people who ask me (as it is a vehicle that stands out) do not touch a Jeep or any other Chrysler product!

Old Review: I love this car- but I hate the dealerships. Jeep have built a great car, but they are severely let down by their back up service agents. We are driving around Australia and have had a few minor problems as expected with the 2009 model unlimited diesel, but what is not expected is the disastrous servicing from their agents- especially the Darwin one. Misdiagnosis, ordering wrong parts, needing multiple attempts to fix minor problems- its taken 3 years and my cigarette lighter STILL doesn't work and the 4wd selector keeps breaking, fighting over warranty and general bad service. It took 4 dealers to work out a bearing noise was in fact the belt tensioner and it took a Midas 10 mechanic in Katherine to work it out for them.- then they ordered wrong part, then they fought over warranty even though I told them about it when it had 6 months warranty left. I was going to buy another Jeep as I think the cars are well built, but not now as I might need to go to Darwin again. Don't buy a Jeep unless you trust the dealership and don't plan to travel anywhere near Darwin.1 comment

Oh dear oh dear!
Under light towing load, on road, this brand new clutch failed at 10,000 kms. Neither Chrysler nor the dealer would honour warranty NOR give a reason why not. The dealer bucked passed to Chrysler, Chrysler simply would not pick up the phone. I had nil confidence to take the vehicle bush as planned and sold it back to the dealer for him to sort out and replaced it with another brand which has preformed flawlessly in the same conditions.
Appealing style and smooth gear box
Nil warranty service and left all its reputation in the advertising brochures.
