Basket handle fell off
Used this fryer for about 9 months and have noticed during the last month that the handle has slowly pulled away from the basket until yesterday when it came completely off . Very disappointing
Purchased in September 2021 at Big W for A$79.00.

My go to fryer
Have the 460 fryer last three years, cooking my snitzels and chips on a weekly basis great unit, always there when I need it, easy to clean and change the oil. Would highly recommend this product for the price it is the best of both worlds thank-you Kambrook, keep up the good work

Worked until thermostat broke
For the first couple of months - the deep fryer worked a treat. We had many fabulous meals. Then something changed - smoke billowed on the outside of the fryer. Since then, it hasn't worked very well. We have tried new oil, smaller amounts of oil, larger amounts of oil (upto max).
This fryer isn't worth the $$ for the limited time we could use it safely. Now if we use it - it seems dangerous. Even after 20 mins of the fryer being turned off (dial turned to zero and power point unplugged - there is smoke billowing.
It looks like the thermostat decided not to work anymore.

Pathetic Product
Been using cheap deep fryers, read the reviews and purchased a Kambrook, well respected name good reputation. The fryer seemed to be everything I wanted. Worked really well cooked great food until tonight, I suspect the thermostat failed, almost burnt the kitchen down, food and oil had to be dumped.

This is good good value for the money, couple of minor issues
For the price this a really good good deep fryer. I did find the temp gauge was a bit dodgy so I invested in a $10.00 temp prod finding a discrepancy of around 15 deg. Using this it's working great. What really annoys me is the printed dials on the display in time rub off when washed, I can hardly read any of the figures any more!!

Died just out of warrenty
Overall it was a good fryer. Cooked food well but could only cook small amounts at a time (for 2 adults and 2 kids it would take 2 runs to cook enough chips) The KDF460 would be suitable for singles however for families the larger KDF560 would be needed.
The temperature markings on the control panel wiped off after the first few uses, meaning you need to guess where along the temperature line you want to set is.
After 15 months (using on average twice a week) the thermostat control dial failed (tripping the power safety breaker) and now...Read more
won't turn on and will need to be replaced. Take caution when frying freshly made chips, it has the tendency to "flash" (overflow) up past the top (even when filled just below the fill line) when they are first added, even when they have been left to dry for half an hour prior to frying. I would also recommend straining the oil once cooled after each use, food particles/crumbs builds up quickly on the bottom of the fryer. Overall I have been happy with this fryer and would consider buying another one but am hesitant with the shorter life I have experienced.1 comment
* UPDATE *
The replacement fryer that I purchased to replace the failed model is still going strong 4 years on. At this age the chip basket is starting to show some wear (handle welds are starting to... Read more

The dial to heat oil has faded can I tell me which way do I turn the dial to make oil really hot
3 answers
Hi Nariman
You turn the dial clockwise to increase the temperature, max is 190C (good for chips) Please make sure to keep your eye on this fryer though mate because they don't seem to last long and the first thing to stop working is the oil thermostat so it will simply keep getting hotter and hotter!
I would really recommend that you get a Tefal or similar and throw this one out! !
Thanks will throw it away
I have only just purchased this unit and when unpacking, I have noticed the 'element' sits inside the unit, just under the frying basket. Do I add oil straight over the element??
