Used maybe 10 times on vinyl and tile floor, noticed a noise if rollers touched skirting, then stopped completely.pulled it apart and found water ingress causing seized parts, see photo attached, loved it otherwise

We bought the Karcher to clean our hard floors, the first impression was that the machine would be the job properly, however a few point to considerer after our couple attempts to use it:
- The machine is heavy and the plastic part underneath, always touch the floors making a few noises and impossible to handle the machine in the correct angle in difficult places.
- The rollers have a division in the middle that always will leave marks on the floor, doesn't matter if you pass the machine again and again always marks would be left, that is due to the bad design on both rollers.
Fortunately, we were able to return it to Bunnings for full refund.

I am on my second machine (first one replaced under warranty) and after third use rollers no longer work ( same issue as first). Very disappointing given cost of machine. Do not buy this product waste of money. Very disappointed in Karcher.
Persevering with this vacuum cleaner is a waste of time. Leaves floors streaky, is poor at getting up even minor stains, clogs up easily, is a pain to clean after use . It would be impossible for an elderly person Very heavy, fast moving motion, doesn’t stand on its own and way too loud
Purchased in for $400.

This is the second FC5 I've had, first one was replaced under warranty, second FC5 has now failed.
When working the FC5 does a great job, however, it doesn't work well for long.
The FC5 has a well known issue with the transmission (roller motor) seizing.
The transmission motor is not sealed from water ingress with the transmission failing after about 12 months.
The FC5 would be a great product if Karcher fixed this design fault.

Purchased under 12 months to clean polished concrete floor and tiles. Rollers started to stop spinning with grinding noise from Unit, and then sprayer failed after 6 months. Took it to karcher product supplier/repairer. Was told the transmission has failed and was a common problem, as provided with a number of similar on the floor awaiting repairs. They noted after direct questioning even after repairs they could not warrant it would not fail again. Terrible product - should be refunded as I have little time to keep taking it back for repairs.
Purchased in at Bunnings Warehouse for $398.
Bought new from Robert Dyas. Great delivery service from them but within 60 seconds of use the rollers came off and the machine cannot be used. Because we had bought it more than 30 days ago Karcher wont replace it and because it was bought for a small church hall they wont honour the warranty either. This is not clear in their blurb so be very careful if not buying for home use!
Purchased in for $190.

Tiled floors. Performs is subpar. I suspect it’s the machine. Had repaired. Does not “suck” up water efficiently. About 1 year old. Will never recommend again. Totally disappointed with product.

Breaks after one usage and would not replace the gear without paying half the price of the machine
The housing transmission is fragile and not designed properly. All fragile plastic parts that break easily. I used the machine once only in one year, then took it to service and despite having an extended warranty, they insisted on charging more than half the price of the machine for one part saying that parts are not included only labour. This is despite them acknowledging that the machine looks brand new as if it was never used.
Waste of money.

constantly unserviceable. rollers wont spin. no water through the machine. rubber strip fallen off. i thought karcher was a reliable, good quality brand. i couldnt be more disappointed with this big piece of junk. i think it has worked about 1 time out of every 10 i have tried to use it
This is quite a heavy machine and has an known fault. We took it to be repaired (not to Karcher themselves but an agent) fortunately within warranty. The agent said its not worth repairing we'll give you a new one but they didn't have any. 5 weeks later and after calling numerous times, it took ONE telephone call to Karcher themselves and we got a call from the repairer an hour later saying it was ready. They repaired it, we were not given a new one. We didn't mind that it was repaired but 5 weeks!!!
I have found that I need to vacuum first and then use the mop otherwise you have bits of accumulated dust/dirt that the mop will not pick up. I wouldn't buy another when this one finally dies.

Today was the second time I used my brand new FC5. The first time it worked well, cleaned my floors effectively. However since today, the front suction head cover hasn't been able to clip on no matter what I try. It just doesn't make an audible clicking sound. And as it's not secured, it keeps falling off when I try to use it. I can't see any reason why it shouldn't be able to clip on. Without the suction head cover, it's pretty much useless. From a reputable brand that costs a fair bit, this was utter garbage.

Purchased from Goodguys, paid $350. Within 12 months it stopped working and the product was replaced under warranty. Again within 4 months new unit is not working. Whilst I have no complaints about the job it does, I do have a question mark on product reliability. Product is costly hence it is expected to work for sometime but clearly doesn’t. Disappointing product from Karcher.

water not flowing to rollers. filter disintegrated and no followup from service department. Spend more time making sure nothing is blocked than it actually works . Mop and bucket a much better option.

Purchased Karcher FC5 corded June 2018, aside from a couple of inconveniences was fairly happy with the machine...… however, for the last couple of times of use the fresh water is not getting to the rollers as it should so the clean was at about 25%. We are both over 70 years of age and due to the risky times we are experiencing we have not returned it to place of purchase (Bunnings Jamisontown NSW) and worry about our warranty. We have followed the troubleshooting instructions in the booklet but to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this?

Questions & Answers
Hi Guys,
I have an issue with the rollers not spinning on the FC5, I'm a mechanical engineer and have pulled my head assembly apart and found that the gearing and pinion are worn out. This is due to the gearing material being to soft for the torque required to operate the rollers. I'm out of warranty and have used the device maybe 20 times or so. I also can't find the gearing as a replacement part on your website. This is not satisfactory compared to the price of the unit you are charging. Please advice.
Rubber strip on lower side keeps coming off
Have glued twice but it keeps failing so machine is currently unusable
Can the strip be replaced?
Hi Barb,
Thanks for reaching out with your question.
Please take your machine to your local Kärcher service agent and they will be able to assist you with any repairs. ...
I live in regional nsw & there are no karcher service agents. Can I just take it back to retailer - Bunnings Coffs Harbour?
I would just like a refund! sounds like these break down after about 5 uses
When I start using the unit it works okey, but as I progress the rollers keep on jamming and making a noise. What can I do to rectify the problem or is it a design flaw as per other reviews?
