After only using a handful of times it has died! Smoke pouring out the back. Apparently couldn't cope with a cake batter. I originally posted a view saying it was pretty good but ive changed my mind. Really don't waste your money. Now just hoping its not a major hassle getting my money back from kogan. How disappointing!!!!!
More affordable than thermomix
Couldnt cope with normal use. Died after 6 or 7 uses.

Yeah me too. Mine developed a faults. I heats by itself without the indicator light or heat program on. I found out the hard way and have nasty burns on my fingertips. I dont think I want a replacement but do want a refund.
How did you made your Cake batter? I didn't have any problems at all!

I am lost.
I just received my Thermobled and yes it looks nice and have lots of attachements but God help you to use it no books at all and no recepies also. After I dowloaded the book I was still confused. It shows on the box that you can do this and that but it doesn't tell you how. The only part you can use is the blender and I have one allready so this machine will go back. I might purchase it again when they will tell me what to do with it as I do not have time and money to waist on trying whatever comes in my head.
Looks interesting
Can not be used without a recepit book.

Don't waste your money and time
My thermoblend just arrived but my excitement was very short lived. Firstly there is a screw missing from the jug handle - I can hear it rattling around inside. I half filled the jug with juices to blend and when I turned it on, they escaped and covered my entire kitchen. I"m so disappointed, I have been waiting for this to arrive after reading so many great reviews.
Faulty! Faulty handle and Faulty Seal on the jug.

I think you would be far more satisfied with a genuine Thermomix. See if you can get your money back & then contact a consultant for Thermomix who would be more than happy to help you.
Good Luck !
Agreed! I am returning it and ordered my thermomix yesterday...after researching and looking for a cheaper option for a year! I cannot wait for it to arrive!!

Major shortcoming ...
It cooks fine and it steams fine, but you can't do both at the same time. You cook in the SS Jug but the steamer doesn't fit on top of it. For some reason they've chosen to supply a separate jug to put the steamer on top of. This steamer jug has no blades and is just a receptacle for putting water in to make steam. Seems to defeat the purpose of the machine when you have to cook in the SS Jug and then steam stuff (Vegies, cous cous, rice, etc). Not having a reverse function is a problem too - you can put the blade cover on and that works, but i...Read more
f the jug is full of food that you've been chopping and cooking, you then have to empty all the food out to fit the blade cover and then put it all back in. Also after my first cooking try, there are small black burnt bits inside the SS jug that won't come off. Having said all that it works well as a juicer/blender so it's probably worth $199 for a good blender. It's no good if you want to cook and steam at the same time though. Price, blender Can't cook and steam at the same time.14 comments
Wow, you certainly expect a lot for $200-$250 :( Sad really. Maybe you need to fork out $2k for a thermomix?
I have had a few mild burnt bits but have come off fairly easily. The Blade guard has not been a problem for me even to couple of times I had to empty it out took 10 seconds to empty into a bowl and ... Read more
back in. I agree I was a little disappointed about the no steaming while cooking thing but for the price point I guess you cant have everything.Yes you can --- take the measuring cup from the lid of the big jug with blades and the big steamer sits on top

Love my thermoblend
I ordered my Kogan ThermoBlend in the pre-release and received it just before Christmas. On initial inspection it looked very sturdy and well made. The only problem i could see so far was what on earth do I do with it! After downloading the instructions I was disappointed there were no recipes included. After downloading another brands recipe book I felt a lot more confident to give this machine a go. It crushed ice with ease and cut a carrot to tiny bits within seconds. I have since made risotto, banana cake, garlic chicken, beef stroganoff, s...Read more
hredded tacos, sweet chilli and cheese scrolls, cheesymite scrolls and a cashew, sweet chilli, Parmesan and basil dip. I have found the machine very simple to use and have made much more adventurous meals from scratch that i would have never attempted. The machine itself is very easy to operate with it's temperature, speed and time setting buttons and there is a safety feature where the machine will not operate without the lid being locked into place. By putting some warm water in the bowl and operating the machine for a few seconds the bowl is almost clean making the rest of cleaning up very quick. Make sure though you take off the plastic blade cover before using the machine on high settings or it will come off and get a little cut oops. After going to a thermomix demo I have found this machine to be a much cheaper and comparable unit and it has allowed me to make a wide range of recipes from scratch with ease. Very easy to cook, cut, purée, blend with using the one blade and bowl. No recipe book, can burn if setting is on too high.3 comments
Have you managed to get it to cook stuff in the SS Jug and also steam at the same time, like all the other Thermo machines? I'm impressed at the range of things you've managed to cook. I'm a good (con... Read more
ventional) cook but the two main dishes I've made haven't worked out. The risotto (from a Thermomix recipe) was just watery at the top and the bottom burnt. The Spanish Chicken I made (again from a Thermomix forum) was when I discovered I couldn't cook the chicken dish and steam the cous cous and vegied at the same time. Also, it turned to mush, despite using the blade cover and on speed 1.( Chickpeas just disappeared.) If you've made all that stuff and it turned out well, the machine can't be as bad as I have found it so I am determined to try and get it right! I'll check out the Thermoblend user link - please put some of your recipes there if you haven't already! As mentioned on your post the large steamer sits on the lid of the ssjug just take the measuring cup out
No it doesn't Kessie

Professional feeling piece of engineering
Now I understand why people are so attached to their thermo machines! Thanks Kogan for making this available to those who don't have $1800. Yes, agreed: the manual needs revision but I decided on carefully reading it along with going on my own discovery tour. The machine is engineered very professionally so there was no way I would have ditched the manual which has all the safety instructions- such as which speed to use the blade guard and mixing tool with. This item was bought to replace a broken food processor and an ageing blender.

keen to try my almond milk recipe so I could compare it to making it in the old blender and I was very happy. I put all the ingredients in and hit 'turbo' after getting brave..turbo really means turbo..but the suction caps on the bottom of the machine hold the whole unit in place very well and the noise is minimal. You realise how well built this is at that point. For me to be happy, I always have to be able to assemble and clean an item quickly or I wouldn't bother with the technology. This was much easier than my old blender as the stainless steel is much lighter and the blades go to the bottom of the u-shaped jug which means a better blend with nothing stuck at the bottom. The blades are insane..be very careful with them. I'm going to buy a fishing glove to be able to take it on and off without any cuts. Don't leave this in the sink for others to put their hand in their to do the rest of the dishes, particularly around the young ones. For now, I have found leaving the blades on as I do my daily shakes has been fine..a quick rinse and all looks very clean. Batter mixing is done by popping the extra attachments over the blade already in place. Safety: the switch is well hidden (took me a few seconds to find it) and covered by a plastic sheath to protect it from spills. You are unable to turn the machine on without the lid fully locked into place either. These two features together make it much safer than my old blender and there will be no more explosions of almond milk as with my old blender. I wrote about that in Weekendnotes.com. The cord is the standard length and I would like it a bit longer. My bench is small and this unit is taking pride of place so I will be buying a small swich board to take two appliances further away from the switch. I then tried pancake batter. This is easy to do in a bowl so I was keen to compare the preparation and clean up time but I was happy with the result. The batter was amazingly light of course. The spatular provided is a very high quality one and fitted to the jug. It has a small hook so you can rest it on the edge or inside the bowl without losing it in the batter.12 comments

n. I got a lovely batter with chunks of banana which was what I wanted. Dough really is made in 3 minutes and was easy to get out of the jug. This time was cut from 30 minutes in the bread maker. Dinner was vegetarian pizzas made in minutes. The dough was glazed in garlic butter made in the separate pot on a low heat. I love that you can regulate the cooking temperature and I'm not microwaving anything. I have been watching many thermo machine online videos and really think this Kogan has all the best features and more. My next venture is stir fry vegetables.Awesome Jeja..thanks ;)

Just got my Thermoblend
Well my Thermoblend rocked up on my doorstep today. I had been considering a Thermomix but the price point really put me off. So when I saw the Kogan version I snapped up the chance to give this kind of cooking a whirl for the much cheaper $220. So as usual with Kogan all the instructions are on the website although I must say in this instance (I have bought several products from Kogan) the instructions really weren't that helpful. Apart from how to put it together it really didn't give much info at all and to top it off there is absolutely no...Read more
recipe book to go with it. So I guess it is just going to be trial and error. The machine is fairly easy to work but different enough from the Thermomix that those recipes wont exactly be straight forward. The machine seems very sturdy and has 4 suction feet on the bottom that stick very well. For the first meal I cooked in it I decided to do some steaming. Steamed vegies (Carrots, broccoli and potatoes and steamed fish. Baramundi and Salmon. Fairly straight forward put the potatoes in the bottom, other vegies next layer and then fish up top. there wasn't heaps of room and was able to make food enough for 3 fairly easily but if you had big eaters it might be stretching it. The food tasted great and was nice and juicy. I set it at 90 degrees for 20mins. but put it on for another 10 just to finish off the fish a bit more. So I give it 5 stars for it's steaming ability but it loses a star for no cookbok or cooking instructions Will try the other cooking functions tomorrow night, but so far so good. Inexpensive but feels really sturdy. No real instructions on how to cook and no recipes25 comments

Hi there
I'm looking at getting one of these. The reviews however keep mentioning a lid issue?
I've noticed the reviews are at least 3 yrs old. Please convince me that all these issues have been corrected in the newer model. Tia

Hi Nicola, our first Thermoblend over heated on the second use, Kogan replaced without any issues however the replacement also over heats. The only way is to half the suggested temp level when cooking. Note the instruction and recepy books are very ordinary. In Summary "you get what you pay for"
Sharron
Why would you compromise the heating. It should do what the manual claims. Halving the suggested heat is unacceptable ...and as a reviewer I would never say that to anyone...maybe I've been spoilt, I've had a Bellini for 5yrs now, replaced the jug once gets used 3 times a day sometimes, I just need a replacement now for when it ceases. Your comments are honest and I thankyou for that!
Cheers Nicola
