Really pleased with this mower

published

My first zero-turn mower and it's a good'un. 70 hours on it after two years with no problems at all. Starts 1st time, every time. Plenty of power to cut tall, thick grass in the paddocks and the blades are tough enough to let me ignore small sticks up to 2.5 cm in diameter. No belt issues or scalping and sharp blades leave a nice finish on the lawn.

Purchased in November 2021 for $5,000.00.

Happy so far

I purchased the z121s last year to replace an Exmark Quest i had the previous 10 years. As far as quality goes its made to be a residential mower, not commercial. The build quality to me is on par if not better than some. I have roughly 22hrs on the mower now and have only had one problem and that was the hour meter. It jumped from 2.5 to 40hrs in the first hour of use, but my dealer replaced it and i have not had any other problem as of yet. My only concern is the Kohler engine, and if it will hold up after years of use. I think Kawasaki are better engines for sure and an upgrade to those engines would help sell these better. Overall I am pleased and would recommend testing one and comparing it to others to see if it fits your needs.

Keeps stopping Z121S

published

Purchased this new and have had this mower for a few years now. Worked really well for first 40 hours. Since then constantly won't start. Also kept cutting out. they replace 1 of the 2 coils and this seemed OK. Now it won't start and appears to be one of the cut of switches. Maybe park brake or seat. Haven't resolve it yet. To have these problems after 42 hours of use seems problematic given the purchase price.

Purchased in March 2021 at Kentan Taree for $7,503.00.

Buyer beware

published

I bought my mower two weeks ago and because of stormy weather today was my first opportunity to mow my lawn. I loved the way the mower started, the comfort of the seat and convenience of the controls. I do not love the fact that after approx. 15 minutes of mowing the belt that runs the blades broke. My brand new $5,000 mower and I just paid someone $60 to mow my 1.76 acres. I hope that this incident is just a one time problem and not an indication of things to come. I am 74 years old, retired and I can't afford to buy a premium mower and then have to pay someone to mow my lawn.

Continual belt problems

published

Had my z121s for a couple years now and has less than 100 hours on it. The deck belt has come off 12 to 15 times. They say a piece of pine cone or stick gets in the pulley. Thats actually happened 3 Times. Belt broke at about 75 hours for no apparent reason. Apparently poor design with the pulley system. Switch had to be replaced but it was warranteed (thank you, dealer!). I'd like to get rid of it, but guess I'm stuck. No more Kubota mowers for me. I have a Kubota tractor 7 years I love...no problems. Stick to tractors, Kubota!

What a piece of junk.

published

It had 16 hours on it when I finally told them to keep it. I used it 5 times, and it broke down 3 of those times. The transmission would lock up and the drive belt broke 3 times in 16 hours. They were able to sell me junk without any issue, but when I refused to pay anymore on it they destroyed my credit. I paid $708 in payments to use this mower 5 times. I had to use my 7 year old Craftsman because the Kubota was always broke.

Please buy something else, not Kubota, and not from Rucker Kubota in Palestine, TX.

Excellent zero turn, by far the best finish in class

published

I almost overlooked the Kubota, sure glad I didn't it is the best finished, has by far the most comfortable seat and can be used for long periods without feeling smashed. This machine does a great job and is a breeze to use. This is a vast improvement on my Cox.

Z121S

I have z121s with 46 hrs and am waiting for 3rd deck belt to arrive, 1st belt lasted 30 hrs second belt 15 hrs. Kubota denies any issues with belts and claims it's a situational issue, duh, I'll give "benifit of the doubt for now" During mowing can smell hot rubber, inspection reveals no contact areas. Apparently by reputable sources, Kubota supplied belt ($240)can't handle bending back around idlers and heats up to failure. I'm trying the gates green belt at 1/3 the price($80) whom claim these green belts are more flexible design. If this lasts longer that 30 hrs I will be pursuing this further. Kubota aren't interested in solving problem as they survive on supplying overpriced poor quality consumables to the punters. Buy generic or these turds will not learn there lesson. Has anyone experienced this?
