I have z121s with 46 hrs and am waiting for 3rd deck belt to arrive, 1st belt lasted 30 hrs second belt 15 hrs. Kubota denies any issues with belts and claims it's a situational issue, duh, I'll give "benifit of the doubt for now" During mowing can smell hot rubber, inspection reveals no contact areas. Apparently by reputable sources, Kubota supplied belt ($240)can't handle bending back around idlers and heats up to failure. I'm trying the gates green belt at 1/3 the price($80) whom claim these green belts are more flexible design. If this lasts longer that 30 hrs I will be pursuing this further. Kubota aren't interested in solving problem as they survive on supplying overpriced poor quality consumables to the punters. Buy generic or these turds will not learn there lesson. Has anyone experienced this?

sounds like there is a safety switch under parking brake. Look for the wires running to the lever underneath parking brake lever and the switch should only require adjusting and tightening up so machine starts when lever applied for safety reasons

My kubota cuts off when you lower the deck. Any suggestions?

G'day Avenia.
Will the motor keep running if the deck is raised straight away, or does the motor stall after the deck blades put the motor under load ? Check your Operators Manual. Assuming that this is a recent occurrence & you are sitting in the operators seat & the blades rotate freely, check, the PTO Switch, Motion Levers & Key Switch are in the correct position. Failing that, a lockout switch may be out of adjustment or faulty.
Hope this helps. Cheers. Trev.

I have a Z121S. Does anyone know the purpose of saturating the pre-cleaner on the air filter with fresh engine oil? I just did the service on it which is to wash the pre-cleaner and let it air dry but the manual says to saturate it with new engine oil and squeeze out the excess before re-installing. Any help is appreciated.

CMark. Oil is to trap particles before the secondary filter, hence increasing the service intervals. My model did not come with this foam pre-cleaner. The dealer supplied an after-market foam cylinder as most of my mowing is in very dusty conditions. Special (sticky) oil can be purchased for this purpose from most motorcycle shops. I use Castrol Foam Air Filter Oil on all my engines that have a foam pre-cleaner.
I wash my foam filters in hot water with detergent, allow to air dry then lightly oil. Hope this helps. Cheers. Trev.

G'day Bill.
Pages 48 & 49 in your Operators manual will give you everything that you will ever want to know, with diagrams, including bolt torques.

i have a Z121SKH-48 with the Kohler ZT720 motor. When cutting the motor stalls under load whenever i run it at more than about half throttle. i have replaced the fuel filter and the spark plugs. When it acts like it is stalling, i turn off the PTO and it labors with fluctuating RPM's, when is set it to the half throttle point it seems to level out most of the time. It really appears to be fuel supply. Any suggestions to correct this problem so i can use it to cut some real grass not puttering around? The unit only has 65 hours on it.

G'Day Ron. If it starts & idles easily, check that your air filter & carby are clean & governor is functioning correctly. Settings will be in your manual. You should get more than 65 hours out of plugs & fuel filter, if you are using clean, fresh fuel. Cheers.

I have a Kubota 121S Zero turn that run good for a minute then won't hardly run. Sometimes it runs good then cuts off and won't crank for a couple of minutes. It does't matter if it's cutting or not the result is the same. What's causing this problem?

G'Day Greg. Just a guess, I had a similar problem on a different brand of mower. (My Z122R has only done 4 hrs) If it yours won't even crank after stopping, I would be checking the wiring & lockout switches. Cheers. Trev.

I had a similar issue, mower would run rough then stall when cutting - was blocked jet in carb

We had an issue where the mower would cut out and/or miss badly when mowing, after much investigation the problem turned out to be the fuel pickup tube mounted in the top of the petrol tank. The pickup tube was probably only 1mm too long and when mowing the square cut end of the tube would suck onto the bottom of the fuel tank causing fuel starvation - easily fixed by trimming the square cut end of the pickup tube slightly to make a 45° angle at the bottom end. The mower has not missed a beat since.

How do you remove the PTO switch on a z221s clipped a limb and snapped the top off?

If its a Z121, first take of the right back wheel. The electrical switch sits on a small piece of plastic which probably have a couple clips that have to be pressed to release switch.
Disconnect the switch at the harness to pull out though the mudguard!
Maybe if you cannot work that out you should get a mower mechanic!
