Electric Folding Bicycle

I have assembled my folding electric bike and ridden it for the fist time. Everything worked well. However, I can seem to fold the frame, I can fold the handlebars etc but the middle frame appears to be locked, even though I have played around with the central device. Is there a close up video of how to fold the frame? Kevin

Hi Leitner owners (Proud)

I have been thinking of buying the Berlin model. Kindly answer my queries:
1) Do they come with puncture resistant tyres?

2) Can we inflate the wheels in a fuel station?

Thanks,
Ram

Leitner E.Leitner

Hi Ram, the tyres are sturdy however not puncture proof. You can use third party products like sealant fluid, strips or even purchase puncture resistant tyres at a local bicycle shop. Regarding inflating wheels at fuel stations: it is recommended to only inflate tyres with a dedicated bicycle tyre pump available for purchase at your local bicycle store. Air pressure pumps at fuel stations are primarily designed for cars and can damage bicycle tubes.

Hi Bernie,
thank you for your message.
Unfortunately we only ship within Australia. Some customers have organized international shipping themselves: you could arrange an international courier to pickup from our warehouse in Dandenong South, Melbourne. Please note that international shipping can be somewhat tricky due to the batteries and unfortunately we are not able to assist with finding a suitable international shipping option. My apologies I couldn't be of further assistance.

Electric Folding Bicycle

Is the max speed for the battery function or does it go faster if you pedal ie down hi..

Leitner E.Leitner

Hi thanks for your question. There are two options for using the motor, Pedal Assist is where the motor kicks in whilst pedalling and helps with the work. You can have this set on High, Medium, Low or Off. There is no speed limit when using this mode, only as fast as you can cycle. The bikes also have a throttle (no pedalling) which comes limited to 6km/h but can be easily unlocked to reach 25km/h for offroad use. Thanks, Tim@Leitner ebikes

Ray
Ray

Talking about the throttle[no peddling] I have my Leitner bike 6Km/h unlocked and have reached a speed of 28KM/h on a flat surface for about 600mtrs full throttle [no peddling] That's on a good surface bike path Thanks Ray

Hi. My Berlin is still under warranty but the pedal cranks are making awful crunching clicking noises when under load such as going uphill or without the electric assist. How can I get into the crank bearings to investigate and grease?

Hi Rod, Thanks for your message. May I know if you lift up your rear wheel off the ground and spin it by hand, does the clicking noise still appears? It will be best to send us some videos or pictures to our email address, so we can investigate and troubleshoot this matter with you. Thank you! We look forward to hearing from you.

Rod E
Rod E

No, the wheel spins freely and quietly, the noise comes from the pedal crank bearings. At first I thought it may have been the pedals themselves as one pedal bearing is quite rough to turn, but after squirting some lithium grease into both of the pedal bearings I determined it wasn't the actual pedals making the noise. When the electric motor is assisting along easy sections there is no noise, but when I pedal hard up any of the many hills I ride over daily the crunching noise gets quite loud and embarrassing. I can feel it through my feet. It is definitely the pedal crank bearings. How do I get into there? It looks like a special tool is needed. It is difficult to video the crunching noise as I pedal strongly, and I don't know your email address.

Rod E
Rod E

It turns out that the crank bearings are a cassette, meaning that the bearings, shaft and casing are all one unit that cannot be undone or greased. I found this out by asking the local distributor because I received no help from this web site. So I have ordered another bearing/shaft assembly because the local mechanic verified that the pedal crank bearings was what was making the awful noise as I originally suspected.

Hi Lindsay,
We do not offer any assembly services, however if you feel unsure about assembling the bike yourself you can always book a local bike technician to do this for you.
The bikes come mostly assembled with only 6 parts to install yourself. We make our assembly as simple as possible and takes most customers under 1 hour to complete. All necessary tools are provided with your purchase along with a detailed instruction manual (including pictures).
Cheers, Jennifer.

Can you please provide the specifications for each fold up model, ie weight, battery capacity, average distance etc.?

1 answer
Leitner
Leitner E.Leitner

Hi, Thanks for your message. All our folding bikes weighs around 24kg including the battery. There are two types of batteries available, 10Ah or 16Ah. 10Ah battery will give you a range of up to 20-50km and 16Ah battery will give you up to 32-80km. This figure depends on the weight of the rider, condition of the road and amount of assistance you required. For example, when pedalling with PAS, the bike can go up to 50km on a flat terrain with a 70kg rider pedalling with low-medium assist. If the rider is heavier, if there are hills and if you use high assistance, the range will reduced. If you have more questions, please feel free to contact us on 1300 856 725 to discuss further. Thanks!
