Comfy quiet car
Lovely car. I do a lot of highway driving and the car cruises along beautifully. I get 7.5ltr/100k pretty good I reckon for a 6 cylinder. Seats are comfy and I'm not the smallest of people. Leather seats are good quality. I compared the BMW and merc and the Lexus won hands down on price and equipment.
reliable, comfy responsive
Brake dust on front tyres! Just means I have to clean them more often :)

Big step up for Lexus
Traded a Merc C200 to get an IS250 in 2005 when they came out. Had it for 4 years.
Had few issues with it - mainy with remote going flat after only a few months.
Service was the Best I have had with any car company
Service costs were very good
Car sounded great when revved
Fuel economy was outstanding for a six
No fold down rear seats ruined practicality
Never had any real problems with the car.
Well finished, luxury, economy, after sales service, safety
no fold down rear seats

Good
Great car, good looks, exceptional drivablility, and very good after sales service.
The car is fantatsic to drive, is reasonable on fuel. The seating adjustement range is good and has range to suit all inu my family who drive it. Instrumentation is great and easy to read, love the heated seats in winter. Handling is brilliant and braking is very impressive. The car is very forgiving. I have had the car for 6months now and havent found anything negative about it. Lexus of Newcastle aftersales is a pleasent shock. Have bought vehicles before from other dealers and felt like a lepper.
Wish I could afford two of them :)

Fantastic piece of machinery - great fuel economy, even better customer service can't beat it, we would look any where else - nothing compares
not for tall people as passengers in the back seat

I traded a BMW for a Lexus and and glad I did. An excellent car. Comfortable, reliable, economical, smart. And extras for the BMW were standard on the Lexus. A much better car.
Everything about the Lexus is excellent. A beautiful car.
The rear view mirror is a little low. But a minor problem really.

Great fuel economy, extremely quiet and smooth, terrific take offs, lovely design, excellent after care service. I love this car and will now never change brand (unless something diabolical happened to Lexus!) I test drove the BMW, Mazda CX9, and the Honda, and the difference blew me away! Lexus won hands down in all areas, including price, even to the availability and cost of parts and servicing. There's nothing not to like about this car.
Everything!

All in all, a fantastic car to own and drive. Nothing short of a high end BMW 3 series will beat it for performance and handling - then again, your paying $20-30K extra for the BMW once you cough up for all the options that are standrad on the Lexus. Not sure what car "ibidonstuff" drove - bears no resemblance to an IS250. I have been driving one for 2 years - goes well (keep the trans set in sports mode), 9.5-10L/100km fuel economy, handles like a go cart, pulls up in very short time (with emergency brake assist it all but launches you thro...Read more
ugh the windscreen if you hit the anchors hard). Not one warranty claim or complaints. Great handling, extremely comfortable, good performance and fantastic value for money Tight rear seat space (poor knee and foot room)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

IS 250C Driving Pleasure
I bought a Pearl White/Black Interior Lexus IS250C for my wife. We spent 2 months comparing BMW'S,Audi, Mazda MX5, Merc's and VW Eios. We are retired and not unlike anyone else, we dont like to make a mistake when it comes to important purchases. The IS250C has restored our enjoyment of driving. It is whisper quiet,( not like the BMW's ),with little or no engine noise, and very little road noise. The standard of interior finish is superior to all but Mercedes, of which they are on par. We travel usually with the roof down. It is as easy as an e...Read more
lectric window, and in the 6 months to date we have activated that over a hundred occassions, genuinly. Not one issue. Sound system is far better than we have the capacity to apreciate but I do enjoy the USB interface. Lexus Customer Service is as advertised, a class above the rest, and appreciated by my wife and I. Yes,it is eye catching and we have left other motorists missing traffic light's and following us trying to identify the make. The vehicle is two vehicles in one, and when it is converting the hard top roof, it really changes the vehicles appearance. That is the comment we routinely receive. In this day and age, it does not routinely translate that the more you pay the more you get. In this case you get exactly what you pay for and more importantly the vehicle realises the hype. A very happy Lexus owner (wife) and even happier (husband) because I get to drive it sometimes. reliability, value, quiet, refined finish, 20 second Hard Top conversion, style, great service, lucky to have it There is nothing wrong with it.1 comment

Quality and class
I've now had two Lexus, the IS250 and the IS350. The IS350 is really just a 250 with a much more powerful engine, which is good as the 250 was a great car but lacking power. With the 234kw of power in the IS350, the sports suspension and Lexus quality this car is beautiful and fun to drive.
I get constant comments by people who just love the looks of it and when I drive it anywhere I feel special and privileged to be lucky enough to own it. The engine is very responsive, gear changes smooth and the ride great, corners and windy roads are easy....Read more

I started to pay attention to this IS250 when it won the "Best Prestige" car award from RACV for 2007 and 2006 consecutively. Decided to take a test drive and compared it against the latest Merc C-Class and BMW 325i.
Bought the Lexus. Have been very happy with it, with no problems at all. Would buy it again, without any hesitation (i.e. no regrets), having owned it for almost a year. Excellent car.
Smooth and quiet V6 engine engine. Solid feel of the car. Extensive list of standard equipment. Reliable and high quality (very important). Exce...Read more

g system. Lexus checked the car and found nothing wrong. Having gotten used to the foot parking brake, it is no longer an issue. Infact, I now prefer it, because it frees up space around the console area (where a hand-brake is normally found). The quality of the car is just superb. The quality of Lexus service is also fantastic.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

After owning BMW's and Merc's Lexus has really won me over. Lexus's customer service is unbelievable the IS250 C is so quiet you can hardly hear the engine going and the leather seats are so comfortable you nearly fall asleep in them. Like I said above it is pure luxury and leaves the BM's and Merc's I've owned for dead.
I bought the Lexus IS250c for my wife about 2 months ago and can't fault this vehicle. Pure luxury and value for money and back up service from Lexus is hard to beat. I hate driving it it's just too nice to drive and my wife is always on my back for racking up 6500km's in 2 months
People never stop staring at the car when driving it around town I'm frighten that it will be stolen

Love this car. I find it isn't as fast as other 6 cylinders I have driven but that's no worry to me. It does use a bit of gas but other than that it is a beautiful car to drive. Handles the road very well in the city and on long trips. Gear changes are much smoother than my previous cars. Would definately buy another one :)
Is a very beautiful car. Very nice to drive. Have not had one problem with it yet. Plenty of leg room.
Not that great on gas (I own the AS200 6 cylinder). The inside is a little boring. I don't really like the pyramid shape of the speedo cluster. There is no arm rest. Boot is not very big.

I have really enjoyed driving the is250 and can find little fault with the servicing, fuel consumption(very miserly) and general aspects of this well put together auto. It have owned it for 3.5years and not a fault has emerged. When I sell it I will definitely be getting another. Might upgrade to the sports version?
Everything. I was persuaded by the family to buy it for the GPS although I thought this was a gimmick. Turns out I was wrong as it has been a god send getting me to business destinations around Sydney on time and relaxed.
Nothing. Well perhaps the limited design of their alloys.

Bad
I took the Lexus IS250 for a test drive and was suprised at how mundane the car is. It is rather boring inside, with
a plain looking interior where nothing is striking. When you try to push the engine it takes a while to realise you are even accelerating, its all rather mundane. This is not a drivers car by any stretch of the imagination.
Comes in a variety of colors.
For those who like bland and uninspired cars.
Expensive for a car made by Toyota
Engine doesnt really accelerate well
Isnt as exciting to drive as the European cars such as BMW,
Mercedes, AUdi or even VW.

I've owned this '99 is200 for 5 years and it has proved everything you'd expect from a quality manufacturer. i originally intended to only keep it for a few years, because i thought age might creep up on it, but it's still going strong. it has not faultered or aged at all, and that includes interior, exterior and mechanical. i drive alot for work and i rack up some km's. it may not be a bmw m5 but it does have an impressive performance feel to it. i'm keeping mine because it still drives and feels like a new car.
great looks, top quality build,...Read more

What about the famous @ 150 000km timing belt change required & the coolant leak ? What's your take on this ?
2 answers
Have not experienced either on IS 350. Have had three Lexus, RX 330, IS 250 C and IS 350. Did change timing belt on RX and it was a major service, around $2,000 as I recall but spread over 10 years, not that big! The others are still less than 50k but never a coolant leak!
Normal (major) service. Timing belt, timing belt tensioners, water pump and drive belts. If you got to an independent and competent mechanic, should cost anywhere from $1300 to $1800. Considering the task is every 150,000km it is not very expensive, but definitely understand it is a big hit of cash in one go.
