Worth the price
Drives well for the amount I paid for it.
I mostly bought it because it looked the best out of all the similar car ranges out there and it did cost less after promotions.
It drives well and has sufficiently updated appliances (Aux etc) for my benefit.
It also has cruise control.

Love my Mazda
Purchased to learn to drive and doesn't miss a beat. Reliable car and cheap on fuel. Very easy car to drive. The interior is nice which is expected with Mazda, plenty of room but probably wouldn't suit someone with a baby as I feel like it would be hard to get in and out of. Would definitely recommend this car.

Great car!
I absolutely love my Mazda 3. It's a fantastic car that drives really well, even after 5 years! I have never had any issues with it. It is very reliable, and is cheap to run (I get 500+ kms for 45 L tank). It's very easy to park, and comfortable for passengers. I would recommend this car to anyone.

Reliable Car
Car generally handles well, good traction control and is reliable. We've had it for 5 years with no mechanical issues (just squeaky brakes), bought near-new at 6months for $17K. We find it struggles to accelerate from standstill and up hills. Also during turns, passengers do move around a bit. Interior does feel a bit cheap and plasticky as compared to a Honda Civic for example. Average fuel efficiency is good, at 8.4L/km.

Love my new car. Perfect little sedan
I've owned a few cars over my years and this is by far my favourite. It drives perfectly, the interior is incredibly beautiful. The red lights on the buttons make the car come alive at night. It is cheap to run, only costing around $40-$50 for a full tank and it lasts me over 600kms. If I ever upgrade, it'll be to another Mazda 3, just a newer model. Love this car!!

Good reliable zippy car, drinks a lot of fuel
Good reliable zippy car, drinks a lot of fuel,167k on the clock, manual, haven't had any issues yet, sunroof doesn't leak at all, reasons for 3 stars is the following.
For a sports car the handling isn't very good, going around corners @ higher speeds the car has quite a bit of body roll.
Fuel consumption is very high for aggressive drivers (370kms per tank 60l)
Performance lower than expected.
Road noise seems high compared to previous car (vw golf 6).

Lots of issues with this car
our Mazda 3 BL Maxx Sports is a good car to drive and performs well, but we have had several major problems. First, we have had a repeated problem with the driver's seat coming loose and moving. Very dangerous. Mazda charged us for repairs a year ago, but we have the same problem again. Mazda have only just Issued a recall on this problem. The car is quite dangerous to drive because the seat moves and Mazda cannot give us a timeline for a fix. Second, the ABS pump unit failed last year at around 1000,000 kms and cost $2300 to replace. Now the ...Read more
dashboard is melting. This is a known problem and is subject to a recall and class action law suits in the US, but no recall here. About to enter into negotiation with Mazda about this is. Others report that Mazda offering to replace the part only, but charging for labour. Had been thinking of buying a new 3 fir my wife, but this is making me have second thoughts.1 comment

Well built car
Great car; well sound insulated, grunty motor, great maneuverability n good turning circle. But reversal difficulty and blind spot no better than a corollary. Good fuel consumption. Well appointed cabin with reading light and other lighting options.
Courtesy mirrors for front passengers.
Well designed seats n upholstery.
Good internal n external styling.

First time owner of Mazda
Have always bought new cars but this car takes first prize. Everything is perfect and after seeing the new models would love to trade it in and buy another one but that is not practical for me. Reliability and costs are excellent. Had to pay extra for back sensors though.

Highly recommend
Fantastic car. Very comfortable drive, the car is super quite sometimes I can't tell if it's running or not. Fuel economy is great, I only fuel up every few weeks. The dash is very nice and sleek looking. Lots of room for a family, leg room is good in the back and the front. Never faulted me I would recommend

The best, SIMPLY THE BEST.
Please just drive the car, it is a remarkable package, so balanced.
It does everything you want from a car, smooth, quiet, responsive, very easy to drive.
This is the car that became the No.1 selling car, why?
Not because it was cheaper or big discounts, it is just a great package.

Still own my Mazda and still loving it
Update to my original review, car is still running fine after 83000kms. Might be due for a new clutch soon by I do drive it like a race car because that how it wasn't to be driven. Brakes still haven't been replaced yet. Starting to get a little small for my growing family so may have to look at the cx9 but I will cry when I say goodbye. So much power!!!!!! Even my husband loves the power and he likes his fast cars.
Also I have never found a problem fitting something in the boot, there always seems to be enough room.
Love my mazda.

expensive disappointment
Our Mazda 3 2009 model had only done 19000km when the ABS computer failed and we had to get a $2000 replacement which seems unfair with such a low mileage vehicle This disappointment was compounded when my attempts to contact Mazda led to me getting promises from them that someone would contact me to discuss this but, although leaving my details, Mazda staff made no attempt to contact me - I had rung twice to try and discuss this with Mazda.

Driver seat design / safety fault
Travelling on the freeway at 100 km there was a crunching noise followed by a sound of metal on metal, the drivers seat collapsed beneath me.driving was extremely dangerous as the seat was like a rocking chair. Upon inspection my husband found under the seat a piece of metal, washer and clip that had sheared away from the seat housing on the right hand side. Where the piece of metal had sheared away you can see where it was 'spot welded ' to the frame. These can be seen on the other side where the bracket that is still in place. . This is a mass...Read more
ive safety hazard and according to just 1 website I have read, this is not an isolated incident. There should be a recall by Mazda to check these housings and have them fixed before someone is seriously hurt or killed. Our dealership will not admit there is a problem but will gladly charge $159 to look at it and then order the part and install for $1600, which is on a 10 week wait list why? Because it is out of warranty. So my car of 6 years is totally useless! I am extremely disappointed that a car I have enjoyed driving I do notfeel safe in.Similar opinion? Mazda 3 problems
The car fails to start intermittently, can hear the starter cranking fast but engine won't fire, called RACQ and on the second occasion the RACQ mechanic told and showed me how by flooring the accelerator pedal, then starting the car will solve that problem and it did work every time when the car fails to start. Next time the car was due for it's service intervals ( under new car warranty) I told the service guys about the problem. They said they could not find the fault at first, then after another six months I told them about the RACQ mechani...Read more
c's solution but it doesn't address the fact that there is an inherent problem with the car. So the dealer (Grand Prix Mazda at Aspley ) ask me to leave the car and I was told later that the problem is the battery. I could not believe it because the battery was tested by a battery supplier and was told to be good, and car never fails to start if the gas pedal is floored down. Another problem was about the "skid light" on the dash board that suddenly lights up with no reason, I even showed the mechanics at Grand Prix a photo that I took with the skid lights on and the car is at stand still or not moving at all. (RPM below a thousand ), again I was told they can not find the fault. So yes this is my last Mazda and just waiting to sell it.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

2010 MPS Luxury = BANG for Your Buck!
No longer own this car but owned it from new for 32,000km. Looked at heaps of hatches standard & performance before deciding on the MPS Luxury. Not as fast as a WRX but much more refined & comfortable, and still punchy without the 'Boy Racer' tag. More spacious than a GTi or XR5. Better value than a 120i/130i (but they do handle very well & are rear wheelers). And better equipped than the SP25 we were originally looking at. So glad we chose the MPS!
For the price the MPS came with many standard inclusions that would have added to the cost of...Read more
the others; adaptive Bi Xenon headlights, electric driver's seat (with 3 memory options but somewhere along the line later models lost this nicety), rain sensing wipers, auto dimming rear view mirror, leather front seats (partial), proximity key, dual climate control air conditioning, SatNav, Bluetooth, Bose stereo with 6 stacker in dash, and, a 2.3ltr 190kW turbo engine. If you're not used to the power through the front wheels, hang on as the torque steer can be severe when down changing/accelerating. Once you've driven it for a while it's a lot of fun especially through corners - it can be driven aggressively with confidence. (Check out a fast lap of the Nürburgring on YouTube by a stock MPS driven by a Mazda Factory driver!). Alternatively, it can easily be driven sedately around town. However, at speed (above a darts top score) the car got very light and 'twitchy' (in a straight line) .... wasn't expecting that! Our previous stock 120i (other than being factory lowered 5mm and having Runflats) with nowhere near the acceleration, handled sublimely even over the double tonne! I guess Mazda had to draw the line somewhere but the car is worthy of a more capable suspension set up. The dicky spare was also a huge disappointment, especially when I had to use it once. 80kms/hr on the F3/M1 isn't enjoyable.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Mazda 3
Road noise! Terrible! The car drives well and has comfortable options, I just thought buying a new car would be smooth quiet enjoyable driving, luckily it's the wife's car ! It would seem Mazda may have cut cost to deliver a competitive priced car, reaching bigger sales. If I jump in to move the 3 the radio is loud as ! Because she can't hear it over noisy roads at normal suburban driving. Not really impressed, hope it will deliver reliable and safe driving for a few years, as I won't be spending money on a new car for awhile. New model would hopefully be better, a extensive test drive would be advisable, Jeff

Solid Buy
I bought my BL Mazda 3 Maxx Sport new in 2009 and have been relatively impressed by the car to date. I have travelled just on 52,000 km from new and to date haven't had any major failures of the car that would leave you by the side of the road. The car at the time of purchase was well appointed (apart from climate control that was introduced on the same model months after my purchase), it handles well with a solid feel going into and out of corners and has great road manners. It takes most of the VERY POOR Australian surfaced roads well and has...Read more
excllent interior layout with most buttons on the steering wheel in logical locations ie cruise control, audio volume etc. The seating position and general cabin comfort is great. The interior noise on the other hand is beyound apprehension, and for a car the cost circa $28k new its really pathetic MAZDA. On new tyres during the test driving on local city and highway the intrusion of road noise wasn't really noticable, but put 2000 km on the clock and it started to creep in. This car replaced a 2002 Holden Astra that was as quite as a sound studio inside the cabin, take note Mazda. At around the 35,000 to 40,000km mark when the car was still under the factory waranty a knocking sound started to appear. It was mentioned to the Mazda service centre on four seperate occasions when the vehicle was being serviced but not fault could be found. Several months after the waranty had expired and the car was being serviced the engine mount was isolated as the problem. Without going into extreme detail, and after mentioning consumer affairs to MAZDA and the local dealer the mount was replaced at no cost to me (which wasn't going to be the case originally).Similar opinion? Owner of 2012 mazda 3 automatic bl series 2
I will make this very informative and quick.
I own a 2012 Mazda 3.
Very nice car, no problems so far. Car has about 40,000km and i bought it brand new.
It has enough power for this small car. Its got enough power on the freeway/highway.
Could use a little more grunt but its good overall.
Petrol use in suburbs is about 7 to 8ltr/100km.
Highway and freeway is about 5 to 6ltr per 100km
The only downside to this car is that there is lots of cabin noise on rough surfaces and wind noise. ...Read more
The service intervals are a let down. Every 10,000kms service. Price on service is about 300$ for minor and 400$+ for major depending on kms. Too expensive. Tyres replaces cost about 150$ a tyre for the factory set of tyres. Hope this helps you guys out. This is a standard Mazda 3 2012 series 2 bl neo. Not the sports or maxx models. Thumbs up so i know people find my reviews helpful. Enjoy and i hope this review helps you guys make a decision on your next mazda purchase. *would i purchase another mazda3 ....yes. But with more cars available such as the mazda cx3 cx5 i would try a different model car next time. Mazda 3 has been reliable and great besides a busted tail light.Similar opinion? Well manufactured, extremely reliable, great interior design, excellent motor/Transmission, sporty a
I own a 2012 Mazda 3 Neo and find it an excellent vehicle, I love the interior, the comfortable seats, the economy, the sporty handling, the design of the car and the fit and finish, excellent. I would like the Neo to be a little quieter than it is, road noise is an issue on some roads, around town no issues at all. If you buy a Mazda 3 you are buying a quality vehicle that will give you years of driving pleasure.

What would cause the power steering pump to fail in a one owner 2012 Mazda skyactiv luxury sedan, which has driven less than 19,000 kms. This vehicle has had all appropriate services. The cost of the pump was prohibitively expensive at over $1500 plus labour.
2 answers
Hydraulic power steering fluid can leak from worn or damaged hoses and failing seals. When enough fluid is lost, the power steering pump can overheat or wear out prematurely, resulting in a loss of hydraulic pressure and failure of the power steering system.
This vehicle was recently serviced and still had the power steering pump failure. I realise it is a 7 year old vehicle but has not done more than 19,000kms. Mazda Australia was not interested though I've read on forums that there has been problems with power steering in the past. We also needed a new battery at over $300 for the I-stop feature, which only ever works if the battery has 100% charge. Then the 80,000 km service. It was a very expensive week all up! Disappointed in Mazda!
Thank you for your answer!

I currently have a 2008 Mazda 3 Neo Sport. Absolutely love my car but after 5 years ( of perfect running) I'm feeling the need for an upgrade. I'm looking at a 2012 Mazda SP25, with leather seats, sunroof etc, all the goodies. Anything I should be looking out forin this model? My current Mazda hasn't skipped a beat, even with lots of k' s put on the clock every year. Cheers
