Good
I really like the Mazda 3. It is a good price for the quality of car, reliable, reasonable fuel consumption, nice design and services on car have kept our car in excellent condition, despite how much we run it around. We are a small family, so while it is a tight fit to do the shopping with the pram in the boot, it can still work. This is our only car, and it really does a lot of travel. Given that, I have to say it copes well under a lot of use and to us, it is very close to the way it was when we bought it. Very safe. I would recommend this c...Read more
ar. I have really enjoyed our little Mazda3. It is a comfortable car and has not had any problems since we purchased it in 2007. Services are always good, although sometimes a little costly, but I guess it would be for any car. Nice design, petrol consumption reasonable Boot space a little small for a family car, particularly when you add a pram in.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
OK
I bought a new Mazda 3, Neo, automatic, 8 months ago. The car is well engineered, with very good handling. No rattles or squeaks of any kind. It is not a quiet car, but it is far from being obtrusive. Unfortunately, this is where the good part ends. Stylish car it is not. It is more like a caricature of a good design. The front of the car greets you with a smile of a "village idiot". The rear end, especially the tail lights, remain me of anorexic cattle. The seats are far too hard and spoil otherwise enjoyable drive. The engine is gutless below...Read more
4000 revs, however, it pulls quite well above that mark. The instrumentation is too messy with special attention to the most unergonomic and illogical cruse control I have had in a car so far. The dashboard is a challenge to clean. Don't wipe it as it will bear scratch marks forever. The door trim material attracts the dust as you would not believe it. So, do not touch it. Because of all black interior, finding smaller things dropped in the cabin is a challenge. Both, my wife and I have small cuts on our noses from the cargo cover lid's sharp edge. The boot space is like a snake pit, all black. So you do not see that cargo lid unless in full sunlight. The fuel consumption is 10.5 l/100km for mostly city driving. Could be better, but I am happy with that. I am trying to love this car, because it drives well, it is made well, it is practical in use but I can not forgive the designers for making such a mess of a good engineering piece. Why did I buy it then? Because it was a cheaper and better car than a smaller Honda Jazz, and $12,000 cheaper than the VW Golf (the model I wanted). Would I buy it again? No, not in this form. I will rate Mazda 3 hatch: 5 stars for engineering and 1 star for "stylish" design. I would recommend Mazda 3 to people who want quality, reliability, and driveability for a very reasonable price. Excellent fit and finish. Very good value. Well equipped. Very good handling. Fun to drive. Design, design, design

Very good small/medium hatch.
We have a Octoober 2009 6 speed manual Mazda 3 Maxx hatchback in Velocity Red. The car has 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, Traction control, Cruise control, a 2 Litre 4 cylinder engine and 15 inch allow wheels.
The car handles well, feels very safe and securely attached to the road in all conditions. At highway cruising speeds the car as affected by road noise but that appears to depend on the coarseness of the road surface. The 2 litre engine has plenty of power both around town and on the open road and cruises quietly, especially in 6th gear.

high level of safety equipment levels is expected in a modern car these days with a good combination of passive and active safety items. 6 airbages means both front and rear passengers are protected and ABS, EBD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution) and ACS (Traction Control) inspire driver confidence when road conditions become treacherous. Rear space in the rear hatch can be a bit squeezy if you want to go away for a weekend trip, if you need more space often, then look at the sedan. Fuel economy has been around 6.8L/100km on the highway and around town, 7.5L/100km. Servicing costs every 10,000km have been around the $200 to $250 mark which I feel is more than reasonable and comprehensive insurance premiums run at about $400/year here in Launceston, Tasmania. Very good car. Slightly noisy at highway cruising speeds.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Have had my Mazda3 Maxx Sport for a year now and I still get a thrill when I get into it. Interior noise is the Achilles Heel of the Mazda range, but it's not excessive; it's just that everything else is so refined that it's noticeable. Nothing has gone wrong (but then, nothing ever went wrong with the Mazda 2 I traded in at 75,000 kms, so not a surprise).
Brilliant fit and finish. Great drive, excellent 5-speed auto. Luxurious feel & high equipment level. Comfortable seats. The dealer service is exemplary.
Sound deadening could be better.

MAZDA 3 DIESEL
I am very happy with my purchase of a Mazda 3 diesel hatchback. The engine is amazingly responsive specially when the turbo cuts in.
My previous car was also a Mazda-it was a MX5, I sort of grew out of this car, don't get me wrong,it is the best sports car you can get for under $50k but lack of space steered me towards a bigger car.
I looked at many hatchbacks and after spending many hours of research I chose the Mazda 3 as the best and the most feature packed brand for the price.
I chose the Diesel model for economy, and unknown to me at th...Read more

Best Value for Money
This website has really helped us in finding this right car. We were out looking whole day Saturday and literally went to all manufacturers barring few (who we hate). But Mazda's turn came in the evening and it was our last stop. We almost ended up buying Mazda 2, but in the end went for Mazda 3. And what a value for money this car is. This was our first experience with Mazda and wont be last. Excellent car. Value for money. Our Parramatta dealer gave a good deal.
Good and reliable car, good plastic, excellent quality
Cruise control can be more accurate. It overshoots on slopes.

Good
Great car and fun to drive, I just hope yours has a better run than mine. If you have the money to buy and service a golf, buy a golf, but the Mazda 3 is just as capable on most areas and very good value for money.
Good looking, fun to drive, cheap to run and insure, easy to work and service parts (spark plugs excluded) wont break the bank.
Tyre noise and poor sound deadening otherwise ruins a great car. I have owned my Mazda 3 for just under 2 years and lately it is coming a little unreliable. I bought a 2004 Neo with 50,000k's of my sister in...Read more

Good
I like the car, although I didn't choose it - my sister and dad did (a long story). I can't fault it mechanically, but I hate that the boot is smaller than my last car, and the seats don't go down flush, so that when you do cart furniture or big items, it can easily damage the back seats - but what's the point of being able to put the seats down if you can't use all the extra space without doing damage! It's got great power, and seems ok on the petrol!
nice zippy car
small boot, and seats don't go down flush

Good
It is a cute little car that gets you from a to b and has a big boot which is good for shopping or for a mothers taxi, to carry a pram around as well asw just the daily or weekly shopping whichever suits you most. I believe this car is a nice safe and good looking car for mums with kids even for those with children that are newly born. This is because one of my friends has this car and she has a new born and a daughter aged three years old, and I have travelled within the car with them and both children were very safe. The interior is very comfortable and looks good.
great colours cute adorable awesome new car smell big boot nice steering
blind spot in the rear

Excellent
The best on the market in this category. The latest is even better than the last, which was tops. Great car for the price range. Fit and finish comparable to the euro's. Fuel economy is reasonable for a spritely motor, would be improved if the car was furnished with a 6-speed manual gearbox. but be prepared for a fight from Mazda if you want anything fixed under warranty. The Mazda "Zoom Zoom" stands out.
Fit and finish is great for a car in this price range, very comfortable, Nice Design, good power, practicality and presentation.
Engine noise, Lack of drivers leg room.

What would cause the power steering pump to fail in a one owner 2012 Mazda skyactiv luxury sedan, which has driven less than 19,000 kms. This vehicle has had all appropriate services. The cost of the pump was prohibitively expensive at over $1500 plus labour.

Hydraulic power steering fluid can leak from worn or damaged hoses and failing seals. When enough fluid is lost, the power steering pump can overheat or wear out prematurely, resulting in a loss of hydraulic pressure and failure of the power steering system.
This vehicle was recently serviced and still had the power steering pump failure. I realise it is a 7 year old vehicle but has not done more than 19,000kms. Mazda Australia was not interested though I've read on forums that there has been problems with power steering in the past. We also needed a new battery at over $300 for the I-stop feature, which only ever works if the battery has 100% charge. Then the 80,000 km service. It was a very expensive week all up! Disappointed in Mazda!
Thank you for your answer!

I currently have a 2008 Mazda 3 Neo Sport. Absolutely love my car but after 5 years ( of perfect running) I'm feeling the need for an upgrade. I'm looking at a 2012 Mazda SP25, with leather seats, sunroof etc, all the goodies. Anything I should be looking out forin this model? My current Mazda hasn't skipped a beat, even with lots of k' s put on the clock every year. Cheers

However, I heard they have different model in overseas (Taiwan) where they've taken out the CD&Radio and replace that with multifunctional GPS system, something like Mercedes-Benz's Command APS. plus, they are selling way cheaper there as well (AUD$25000) 2.0 model with all add-ups. lolIt is good from the outside, but not the inside...
I have got this as well....the GPS just bad... ... Read more
