I love the car. Would definitely recommend buying a Mazda. Servicing is more expensive than Toyota but I can't go past my Mazda and I will definitely buy a Mazda again.
I love my Mazda 3. It drives very nicely. Great turning circle. Air con is works well. Petrol consumption I find is good, much better than my last car.
I have a 3 year old son so there is not a lot of room when you have a baby seat in there, but its not often the car has 5 people in it so its not a problem for us.

Everything we bought here in Australia just last under 1 year. Everything is made in China.
We bought a brand new Mazda 3 sedan about one year and 3 days ago and it stop working. Went to Mazda dealers and they are telling us warranty's been passed for parts. We have 5 year warranty just like that and now we have to pay for it. After sale service is horrible. Mazda & Toyota suppose to be the most reliable cars in Australia as the salesman told us. The interior noise at country speeds is really bad. It doesn't worth the value ($28,000). Rear visibility is poor. More colours came out only after we bought our car and we had to pick the co...Read more
lour salesman had. If you wake up one morning and it didn't start working don't be surprised because it happen to me and it's not suitable for more than 2 people and inside design is not suitable for tall people especially feet spaces. They say "you get what you pay for" but we even didn't get that. Just the look and I also like Bluetooth phone connection option that is not just for Mazda 3 Battery is dead in one year. Servicing is expensive. Poor visibility past the "A"pillar. Road noise, problem with air con and heater, small fuel tank, it costs a bit too much for what it has to offer. The sound system is cheap. Not built for highway driving, lack of on board GPS system, speedo was not visible.

I had the same problem it was the gearbox cascade you have to change with new rubber cascade cost with oil and labor $200
Horrible service again after second year we had to change the battery again. They told us that there is something wrong with internal wiring.Worse than that they scratch the paint while cleaning the car. They just said sorry for that.

I bought the car 8 months ago and think its really good for value. Great on fuel. The only problem is that you have to take it for a service every 6 months

3 ways to make you smile
I purchased my Mazda3 SP25 in April 2010 and it has been the best car I have owned in my 24 years of driving, I upgraded to the premium package which includes leather seats and 10 speaker Bose stereo system and it rides like a mini limo. The 2.5ltr motor is very responsive and the paddle shift on the steering wheel can be a bit of fun also, my only beef if there is one, is that I should of picked another colour other than black, very hard to keep clean.
The quality
Services around the 40k mark can be alittle expensive.

Good
Purchased 2010 NEO sedan. Overall very happy. Celestial blue very attactive. The overall long term reliability is probably slighly lower than a corolla as I know several people with major problems with their Mazda's but this car is working well for the time being.
Intuitive, sharp, effortless, fun driving. Certainly has that zoom-zoom. Runs on E10, doesn't need premium. Good fuel economy in city (10.5 L/100km) and country (6.5 L/100km) on E10. Premium gives slightly better economy. Revs smoothly well past 4000 rpm. Good looks and envious commen...Read more

Really easy to drive and plenty of go for a 4 cylinder automatic
A bit noisier than the sedan but has the space of a small wagon with the back seats down. Very zippy and responsive, especially considering it's only a 4 cylinder auto. Can cruise at 100-110 km/hr all day with no effort. Effortless to drive and has a great sounding stereo system. Lots of standard features such as cruise control and anti skid functions
Easy to drive and lots of power
Cabin storage space is poor and no sun glasses holder. Passenger seat feels closed in by the shape of the dash

Not perect and can live with out it!!!
Having owned a Mazda 3, I have mixed feelings about it, it is a great medium car, handles well, plenty of get up and go, with plenty of hatch storage space.
The not so good parts are, the rear window is a terrible size being so small and hard to look out off, rear vision mirror is in a bad position being to low for my liking.
Stereo system is average, aircon is average too on a hot day, doesn't handle road bumps very good at all reasoning are the low profile tyres (and you can't change over to a higher profile tyre) that are better suited on ...Read more

2010 Mazda 3 - Neo
The first new car I have bought, and I certainly won't be in the market for another car for years to come. During the two years I have owned it, I have not had a single problem with it. The 6-speed manual came as standard, and I certainly appreciate the extra gear when cruising along the highway.
Great stereo, and I love the extra features like the fuel usage and range
Not the most spacious of a mid-sized car, but it's certainly something I can live with
The people at the Mazda dealership were a pleasure to deal with.
reliable, fuel efficient, great design, good features

Great Car. No match for the Focus. Loads of character and good looks. Big boot easy to fold seats down and fit lots in it.
My Grandparents have the SP25 with leather. The seats are lovely quality and with lots of support. Great finish on interior. Great lighting around speedo and tacho. Great value, the sat nav is right in your eye view with great graphics and can be all controlled from the steering wheel. Bluetooth great and easy to use. Best sound iv'e ever heard in a car with that thumping 247 watt 10 speaker bose audio. Easy to connect mp3 to car. Love the 5 speed auto with the padels on the steering wheel. GHreat 2.5 l engine with a lovely sound when reved. Surprisingly fast.

Sporty look, drives very smoothly, good name, reliable
Dashboard lights up with red/orange lights at night, very busy looking, alarm bell sounds when something placed on passenger seat and no seat belt plugged in

Love the car. Did a lot of research before purchase and this car suits my needs at the moment. Family has grown and we occaisionaly have our youngest along for a trip etc so it does not need to be a large family car. Still has a surprising amount of room though especially in the boot. Even tows my tinny without any dramas.
Would highly recommend a test drive of all the cars in your maybe list then you will buy one of these!

I have a 2009 Mazda 3 Maxx hatch. Initially I was not too fussed about replacing my old Toyota, but I absolutely love this Mazda. This is the first time I have had a car that I really look forward to driving. My husband who is a large man (hates cars, likes utes and trucks), fits easily into it and also likes driving it.
There is a lot of room in this car. I am a carer for my father and can easily fit his rollator walker behind the front seat. I like the way the boot can be opened by pressing a button, I don't mind not being able to open the boot from inside the car.
Looks very sporty, goes well, fuel economy, safety features.
Air conditioner does not put out enough cold air

We bought it new as we wanted a reliable family car for our young family. It is spacious enough for the moment but we may need to upgrade when baby number 2 will come along. You feel very save in this car and the comfort is excellent. We would highly recommend it to a small family (1 to 2 kids max).
Comfortable, easy to park, great for a small family
The main drawback is the boot, we can not put the baby pram and the family dog! But hey, we should have bought the CX7 then! Not much bad things to say about this Mazda 3 Maxx sport :)

We recently purchased a Mazda 3 and love it. It's such a great car. It's stylish, looks good. It's really economical, well over 500kms a tank of petrol.
And not too expensive either to buy and insure.
Style and shape. Comfort. Economical.
I can't think of anything I dislike about it. Apart from lots of people have them perhaps.

A smooth drive and a nice size
This is a really nice car to drive. I prefer it over the Golfs we test drove. It's attractive inside and out and doesn't feel too cheap and plasticky for a car in this price range.
Cheap to service, zippy, good handling, quiet, smooth, nice size for a couple, nice size for driving and parking, Comfortable seat position for average size women

The Mazda 3 Maxx Sport Sedan is an excellent car, and other than the minor adjustment of the say bar bolts that was needed, and the rear visibility, we can find no other fault with this car. It's a pleasure to own and to drive.
We have a 2010 Mazda 3 Maxx Sport Sedan and love almost everything about it. Acceleration is good when you need it, steering is excellent, fuel economy is about 12 litres per hundred kilometres on very short runs in the suburbs, about 9 for longer runs in the suburbs, and under 7 in the country.Seats are comfortable, the...Read more

I bought the SP25 5 months ago new and have 11,000 on the clock. The car is fully optioned minus a sunroof. Simply said you get what you pay for and the quality and features of the SP25 are worth every cent if the budget will stretch that bit further. Mazda have excellent build quality and reliability.
Interior points to note
* Instruments and controls are numerous and clear
* The onboard GPS is easy to use and has no legal issues with use in Aus
* The Bose sound system is exceptional, even at high speeds
* Leather seats are comfortabl...Read more

Got my Mazda from garry warren smith mulgrave, excellent service, great follow up. No I don't work there it's just good to get quality service. I get a loan vehicle at service times and fuel is excellent. My last car was a Ford Teritory. It has a little road noise but for under 25k it's not to bad. If you are getting one make sure you get the 16inch alloys it looks better. I also got the safety side air bag pack, an extra $500.00 and it was still 25k.
Great value for money, goes like the wind.
Seats are a bit hard and a bit of road noise

What would cause the power steering pump to fail in a one owner 2012 Mazda skyactiv luxury sedan, which has driven less than 19,000 kms. This vehicle has had all appropriate services. The cost of the pump was prohibitively expensive at over $1500 plus labour.

Hydraulic power steering fluid can leak from worn or damaged hoses and failing seals. When enough fluid is lost, the power steering pump can overheat or wear out prematurely, resulting in a loss of hydraulic pressure and failure of the power steering system.
This vehicle was recently serviced and still had the power steering pump failure. I realise it is a 7 year old vehicle but has not done more than 19,000kms. Mazda Australia was not interested though I've read on forums that there has been problems with power steering in the past. We also needed a new battery at over $300 for the I-stop feature, which only ever works if the battery has 100% charge. Then the 80,000 km service. It was a very expensive week all up! Disappointed in Mazda!
Thank you for your answer!

I currently have a 2008 Mazda 3 Neo Sport. Absolutely love my car but after 5 years ( of perfect running) I'm feeling the need for an upgrade. I'm looking at a 2012 Mazda SP25, with leather seats, sunroof etc, all the goodies. Anything I should be looking out forin this model? My current Mazda hasn't skipped a beat, even with lots of k' s put on the clock every year. Cheers
