Best of a mediocre bunch
I’ll keep it brief.
If you’re in the market for a small/medium sedan or hatch and your budget runs to around $30k, the SP25 is hard to beat. Especially if you like a little more zoom-zoom than all of the 2-litre cars in this price range have.
The good:
1. Nice engine, good midrange, the choice if you need something open-road capable;
2. Real automatic gearbox, not one of those horrible, accelleration-killing, droning, CVTs. Very nice upshifts, slightly clunky downshifts - which seems to be normal these days with transmissions tuned for fuel...Read more

Great everyday car
The car is fantastic, provides a smooth ride for everyday drives. Gives enough power when needed and giving me roughly 450-460 kms per tank.
Interior is stylish, and has everything you need from Navigation to bluetooth, reverse camera and sensors. The quality of the material is definitely an upgrade from my old Mazda 2 (2009), less plasticky and the leather steering wheel and gear knob is quite nice.
Handling of this car is quite phenomenal, except cabin noise is quite prominent, however it is not a problem as I usually have music on.

Best small car that feels like a big car
Mazda 3 Maxx hatch (2014) - So far from new has been the best car I've had. Great service, one small issue with the gearbox that was replaced under warranty, no problems since. Very economical, great safety features, comfortable to drive and with sufficient room for a couple. Auto transmission with steering wheel paddles for auto shift like a manual. Floor mats are a must I think, keeps the car clean and in good condition. Have done 60,000k so far on highway and local roads, will be certainly getting a Mazda as the next upgrade.

2014 Mazda 3 SP25
The car is a great looking model with an aggressive looking front. I really enjoy the smooth riding that comes with it. It can be a little annoying when stuck in traffic and the i-stop kicks in every time you stop for 5-10 seconds however this can be turned off. Quality sound system. The navigation is a nice looking screen but the maps can't quite compete with Google Maps. It is very spacious for a hatchback, I was able to fit a couple big items from IKEA in the boot with the back seats folded down. It is still a new car only done 50000km and h...Read more
aven't experienced any issues. The fuel economy isn't quite as good as suggested averaging about 9l/100km however it is the 2.5l model which does have a bit more guts. I think it is quite a stylish car and value for money. Cruise control is a little hard to work out but driving in Melbourne you don't often get a chance to put it into this mode. It costs me about $50 to fill giving a range of 600km.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Mazda 3 2.5litre
Love my car only has 25K but highway driving yesterday the tyre blew - split totally around the inside. Haven't seen anything like it before. Wasn't like it had a nail or something in it. It was scary and I hope it is not a common fault with the tyres. Very expensive tyres to replace.

Lovely car to drive
After car shopping I sat in a mazda 3 interior and fell in love with it. The feel and look of it is very luxurious, the leather trim is smooth and elegant. Overall the interior sold me. The performance of the SP25GT is no match to other cars, it is fantastic on fuel economy at ~6L/100km. You can drive it with power and also save fuel.
The only downside is the cabin noise when driving it can be a bit noisy in terms of the road noise, but this is due to the skyactive technology. Just put your music or radio on as background noise.
Running costs is about $350 a service, but at 10k intervals. (Not great, but the Mazda Server centres are really good).
Overall this car is a head looker and has all the features one needs.

Fantastic car
The Mazda 3 SP25 is a great small/medium car that is fun, zippy and handles well. The 2.5 litre SP25 engine gives it that extra power without sacrificing too much on fuel economy. The manual gearbox is fantastic as it is smooth to shift and the throw is short (similar to a short-shifter).
After owning it for 3.5 years, there hasn't been a single mechanical issue. I'm getting fuel economy of 6.9l/100km from a mixture of 50% freeway and 50% city driving.
The only downside would be the cabin noise, which is a bit louder than your typical car (eg. Golf or Corolla).

Beautiful car
Never would I think a car with all the perks would be so easy and straightforward to use! The interior is gorgeous, without being too flashy, there is plenty of room for driver and passengers, and in the boot! Would totally recommend the Mazda 3 to people. The engine could be a bit quieter though - if I were to be picky

Perfect car that is great for beginners
The car is very smooth to drive. The steering is easy to control and the noise level is minimum. The car overall is beautifully designed. It looks very modern on both the interior and exterior. The interior features a display that shows things like navigation and music. The downside to this display is that it is awkwardly placed in the car as it looks like it was it's an accessory that's added to the car rather than something that was originally with the car.

SP25GT Manual
Good car, had some small issues with the gear box and istop - all sorted out under warranty. But very smooth, runs well with no issues since the fix. average about $50/week on petrol driving about 30-40km a day. Bucket seats can be a little uncomfortable during long rides and passengers in the back have said they get a bit uncomfortable also

Great little car with a sleek interface
Great little car with awesome fuel economy due to the skyactiv engine. It has a bunch of really simple, but necessary modern features integrated, like bluetooth and hands free controls on the steering wheel, push button ignition and push button boot lock.
The ride is firm, and the road noise is a lot less noticeable than the previous models, although it could certainly do with better shielding for a quieter cabin.
Having the reverse sensor not standard on the lowest model pre-2015 is a bit of a let down, although they are not hard/expensive to install. It would be nice to integrate a dash-cam as standard though, especially if you have the maxx with the screen.

fun to drive
I have driven this car for half year and found Mazda 3 is fun to drive, looks beautiful.
positive: 1. it is a beautiful car and vehicle entertainment system is good
2. reasonable price to service
negative: bit noisy over 70 km/h, rear seats are small but fair enough for the size

Good car
It is quite to drive, does really on motor ways, picks up well when increasing speed. If drive a lot then go for one with heads up makes driving so much easier.
I get local driving 500 km to the tank . Motor ways 700 km to the tank.
The only problem I have had is turns it self off at lights and does not start straight up.

Perfect car
This is the first car I've owned from buying brand new so I really did my research on it before buying and I am not disappointed.
No issues after 2 years, easy to maintain and SO CHEAP to run
Very comfortable and the top model has quite a 'luxury' feel for such a standard car

I love my car!
This is the first car I've ever owned from new so you can bet I did my research on it before buying and I am not disappointed.
3 years down the line and the car still handles like a dream, is cheap to run, fun to drive and hasn't aged badly.
I have the hatch version due to personal preference and it holds a heck of a lot in the boot. The back seats are spacious for your passengers and the seats fold flat for extra storage.
The inbuilt infotainment system is excellent and I can't live without it now.

Was wondering if anyone has had issues with the MZ Connect system? I have a Mazda 3 Hatch BM MY2015 SP 25 Astina. Just under a year of getting it new, the " your over the speed limit" woman started going silent, yet you could tell that she was trying as the right ( driver) side speaker would be off, with music still coming through the left ( passenger) speaker. And this would happen more so if apps like Pandora were active. I've had one fix, that didn't fix it. There is another one due in a few weeks but there must be more than one driver having this issue!

I haven't had any major problems, I just use the music connected to an iPod & the navigation, it has crashed a few times but generally works well.
Yes I had this problem. It started when I had a service in October 2016. Just had another service and it has stopped doing it thanks to them updating softare or just reinstalling whatever version is currently out. Hope this helps :)
Thanks
