You express directly into the feeding bottle which is a plus, but overall I dont rate this product that highly if you want/need to express on a regular basis. If you just want to use it once a day it would be fantastic but I used mine 2-3 times a day and by the end of three months, it just didnt work as efficiently as it was.
Small and easy to use, portable (normal AA batteries), easy to use, easy to clean, fits into steralizer easily
Very Loud, not good for more then once or twice a day. Normal AA batteries dont have a long lifespan when using the pump so always make sure you have spares. Doesnt have as much suction when using batteries

I have only every used this pump, but am told the Medela Swing is better as it is much quieter and a little more efficient. I find it really hard to get a let down working when I pump, and I believe its because of the noise - hard to be relaxed and in a "zone" when using this noisy product. If I didnt already have this pump I would definitely invest in a double pump that is quieter.
Great size and good for using once or twice a day. Can use double A batteries so can be used in the back yard or while moving about the house.
Very loud.

I actually got tears and abrasions on my nipples from this machine. It was uncomfortable and in-flexable, The material it is made of seems to be cheap plastic. The hospital suggested this product, but I don't like it. I wish I'd saved my money and bought one that is easier to sterilise, has padded breast cup, and better quality plstic.
it has minimum parts so cleaning is easy
sterilizing is a pain, because you cannot use a microwave sterilizer. The part that your breast sits in is not flexible, and when pumping it yanks at your nipples causing them to swell and hurt

Being a jersey cow I need to express in the night and between some feeds so this has been great. It says in the main review this is for occasional use but I don't know why, I've been using mine daily plus for the past 4 months and so far we're still working. I started off with a hand pump not thinking I would need to express so much and this was so much easier!
Didn't know anything about breast pumps when I bought this from a friend, had no idea I would rely on it so much! It's small, cheap and efficient. Fits well in my steriliser and seems pretty quick.
Very noisey and has half the suction when using batteries not the mains (car journeys!)Doesn't empty me like my daughter does and could do with one higher setting to hurry it along at 3am!

Good
this breast pump is ideal if you are occasionally going to express milk when you are going to be away from your baby but not adequate to use after every feed or to help increase milk supply.
really easy to use and comfortable to hold - which is a plus
can be operated with mains or battery if you wanted to take it away from home to use much better than the manual breast pumps available
easy to operate
can buy additional parts if they are lost or worn
compact and small
can be quite noisy - but not so loud as to drown out the tv!

I have had mine for five years and it is still working perfectly. It is a compact pump, easy to clean and really works. It definitely saves your hand and allows you to express as much milk as you can. The dial is essential as you turn it up as your flow starts. It works quickly and discretely. It was also a lifesaver in giving me a break when you had sore breasts in the early days.
The Medela Mini Electric is a great pump. I really trust this brand as it is the same as the breast pump in hospital.

I rated this pump low because it didn't not suit my need. I was having low milk supply and required frequent pumping. I bought this before I went to buy a Medela Pump In style Advanced model, which is way way better. However if you are only using it for occasional pumping, it is a cheap way to go.
Quite small and compact, with only 2 AA batteries, you can take it anywhere.
Not a good pump for frequent use. Very noisy, and doesn't get milk out as fast as the Medela Pump In Style Advanced model. Would not help to increase milk supply.

When I had my first, I sent hubby out to buy me a pump. This is the product he returned with. And I am greatful. I found it so easy to use and very quick. I would take it with me where ever I went just in case I ran out of milk for bub. Very impressed with this product and am now looking to donate it to the breast feeding mothers association to enable someone else access to this very user friendly product.
Small and compact, easy to take anywhere you go. My pump has got me through two babies and is still going strong. A great product.
A bit noisy. Bubs knows when it is bottle time :)

Inexpensive, easy to use and oh so portable.
Compared to cost of hiring why wouldn't you just buy this?
I've used mine for two babies so far and it's still going.
You can buy parts separately if you need to (e.g. when your husband melts the breast pump receiving section when sterilising it for you and leaving on too long lol).
Convenient size to pop in your bag and take out.
Mains operated or battery operated so can take anywhere!
Really easy to use and QUICK!!
Some say noisy but i found the pumping sound would put my son to sleep LOL.

Do not recommend this to mothers who are not producing enough milk and trying to increase milk flow. Actually, i dnt recommend it to any mothers
I didnt like it
Too noisy. suction hurt.it was not comfortable. I ended up using the manual pump because it was taking to long to get milk out when i used this.

I needed to express at night time but had to stop using this machine as the noise was just too much at 2am each morning. I also found it took ages to get used and I never got much milk. i gave up and went back to a hand held breast pump. I was given this pump and I'm glad I didn't buy it as I would have been really annoyed at forking out so much money.
Easy to put together
It is so noisey and hard on your breasts. The lead is not long enough and just got in the way.

I dont really like this pump as it is so loud to use! The mains lead sticks out of the side of the pump and gets in the way - a lead that comes from the back would be better. Also pumping power is reduced when used with batteries and when using batteries you only get a short amount of pumping time. I found i got more milk out and let down was faster when i changed to a different brand electric pump.
Compact & portable, fits most bottles not just medela brand.
Noisy, mains lead in an annoying position, AA battery power not strong enough.

It is a bit noisy, but not too much so that its annoying. Babies generally like that "white noise" anyway, so it never bothers them. Its easy to clean and just microwave sterilise. Cheap bottles from a discount store just screw into the socket, so don't be tricked into buying the super expensive medela bottles. You get one with the pump anyway. Well worth it to go with the electric. I'm a stay at home mum so everyone thoughtI was wasting money getting the electric instead of a cheaper munual one, but it's so much easier. oy just sitting there as it does all the work, rather than having to fiddle around doing it myself! ha ha ha effective, gets alot of milk out and helps keep your milk supply up. not many, but when you don't have much milk in your breasts its not great at getting any out, its better to hand express in this case.Similar opinion? I love this pump - and at the same price as some of the manual ones - would definately recommend buying this one instead. You only need the one hand free, I have fed bubs on one side while expressing the other at times.
I used the Medela brand in hospital and found this one to be just as efficient at expressing.
So easy to use, only need one hand free.
Can be plugged into a wall socket or use batteries.
Very noisy, so it is hard to use at night because it echos throughout our house.
The lid doesn't go on once the batteries are in.

I didn't find any issues with this pump increasing my supply (that's more to do with how often you use it and for how long) and successfully used this pump to express milk for my baby for 7 months of full time feeding. Basically I beat the crap out of this pump and it still worked as well by the end of the seven months as the day I bought it. I used 2 sets of rechargeable batteries if I was out so that I didn't have to spend a small fortune replacing batteries and always had a spare set (it does chew through battery power quite quickly). le it didn't really worry me, the only minus was that it was a bit noisy so fine if you have a private place to pump but might not be a good choice for places like mother's rooms if you are easily embarrassed! Mains or battery powered so great if you're travelling, easy to assemble and clean and very compact. A bit noisySimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I found this pump very easy to use. However sometimes experienced pain while pumping, as the suction is directed in one spot quite alot.
The noise was very loud, and I felt sometimes stopped me from fully relaxing.
batteries didn't last too long, so I had to be careful to have spares if i was out and about.
I found the pump helpful when I was only using it minimally, but once I returned to work and needed it regularly, it did not maintain my supply well enough and I successfully transferred to a manual pump.
small, easy to assemble and clean
Noisy, diminshed my supply if I used it too much

I found that this pump worked OK as far as stimulation goes to increase supply, but really wasn't that great at actually expressing the milk. The hard plastic of the breast shield was uncomfortable and it's way too noisy. It might work better for women who have a very responsive let-down reflex, but is not very good for women who are having supply/let-down problems.
This pump is small and would be easy to transport in your bag. It's good that it can run on batteries or mains power.
Doesn't feel comfortable on large breasts. Not very effective if you don't have an easy letdown. Is very noisy for it's size, so I definitely wouldn't use it when out and about or at work.

How do i charge this breast pump...its sounds so flat and i have no idea how to charge it or knw if it is charging?

I'm not aware of it being chargeable. You keep it plugged in for constant power, or you place batteries inside for cordless/travel use and replace batteries when they are flat.

Hi Keenan
The mini electric cannot be charged. It can be used on mains power and is also battery operated.
Kind regards

Can you change the breast shield size on this pump? I would like to know if I can buy other sized medela breast shields for use with this?

I personally have not had to do this but I went to the medela website and they say they make 5 different size shields. Hope this helps :)
