Seat Issue + Deisel Particulate Filter Problem
Bought a new Triton Dual Cab manual - basically for the convenience of a dual cab ute (horse gear + stock feeds in the back), and to tow a horse float. It has now hit the 2 year old mark, and the drivers seat stitching along the edge near the door is coming apart, and the DPF warning light is flashing. I do plenty of highway driving, so the filter should be working OK. Not real happy that I have to wait 6 weeks to book the car in to get these issues sorted under warranty, as that's the wait time for next available service date at my local dealer (and where I bought the Triton from originally.

After being told by work go out a choose what you want, spec'd a hilux then 10 months later boss gets me a glx+ I was disappointed. But after 2 months and 5000km it's not such a disappointment. It's the little things that have got to me though. Firstly the small tank, previously had a ranger and would get 900km to a 72litre tank with an xl service body full of tools. Only get 660-700 from 60litres in the triton. But it's more the fact it has a Caltex card not BP which is closer. The mirrors don't have any objects may be closer the appear, just ...
Read morehard to get used to. The doors lock once you hit 15km/h then there is no unlock button which annoys me as I always have to drop people off with my job and haven't got used to flicking the actual lock in the handle. The rattle from the passenger seat or passenger seat belt between the seat and pillar. Still can't figure it out if anyone has any suggestions would be great. The steel for the bonnet and doors is quite thin and you can hear the steel flexing when doing 110km/h. Could be I always had dynamat for sound deadening in personal vehicles but will investigate one day. Lastly for the negatives the headlights are shocking. In low beam if it's foggy/raining you can't see 2metres in front of you, then flicking to high beam it seems great until the low beams turns off and you have dull lights pointing in the sky and you can barely see 1metre in front. Aside from those small complaints it's a great car so far. I've towed a 3 ton excavator/trailer and you could hardly feel it. The drivers position is quite easy to set for many different people and for 38k with waterproof seat covers, deep dish mats, canopy, drawers, side steps and tow bar. Saved the boss 30k over the sr hilux I speced up.- BadgeGLX

If there's someone you don't like recommend the Triton !
Unreliable, fuel economy disgusting, drivers side seating stitching comes undone every 6 months, central locking repaired twice now, in the rain my drivers side window constantly goes down, so I keep a rain coat on the back seat now for extra comfort of not getting soaked and Mitsubishi don't wanna know about it ..

The silly thing about the New Triton is Mitsubishi Australia Advertising said it's the Best Ever Triton Made well god help us all if this is the best that Mitsubishi can make !!
I've lodged the Vcat claim against Mitsubishi Australia for a new triton or money back the case was held on the 10th July 2018, I turned and Mitsubishi Australia didn't, I rang Mitsubishi Australia ...
Read moreand spoke to there representative Jane in head office and was told they had rang Vcat 48 hrs before the trial to tell them they would not be appearing on that date, no one informed me or the judge of this so we sat there waiting for 30 Minutes for someone to turn up and no one did . Mitsubishi Australia to my knowledge were given at least 10 weeks notice before the hearing and to ring and try and cancel it 48 hrs before is disgraceful.. So I took a day off work and spent $90 to Uber in and out of the city plus a days wage for no reason other than to be stood up ., Absolutely Disgraceful!! This is what us as buyers can expect, they warranty there product, they don't do anything, yes $38,000 plus dollars for triton that I've lost so much money on and still I'm suffering thanks to them .. if I do not get the outcome I expect I will do everything in my power to change the law so the buyers have more of a say in this situation as opposed to just being pushed around by these big companies!!- 8 reviews

Recently purchased a 2017 Triton Ute and after driving Fords, Isuzu's and Toyota's for work i'm seriously impressed with the Triton. For around $10k less than the bass model of most other brands I got a near top of the range Triton, and while it might not boast most of the hardcore 4x4 capabilities of the others it drives like a passenger car and is comfortable as anything. Fuel economy isn't too bad at around 700km per tank, and while the turbo diesel isn't super quick it wasn't designed to be a race car so I don't expect it to drive like one. I'd definitely recommend the Triton to anyone.

Bought a brand new Triton 2017 MQ 4x4 for the purpose of driving on the beach. This is exactly what I told the sales person. In short the reply I got was 'you will not be disappointed'...famous last words!
At 2500km I took it on the beach for the first time, and being a new car I took it slow. The vehicle did not work hard at all and was only on the beach for about 30 min. In that time I had to reverse once for about 20 meters to turn around. Soon after, there was a burning smell coming from the engine...long story short...clutch is burned a...
Read morend needs to be replaced at the cost of about $4500 and it is not under warranty. Thanks Mitsibishi for selling me a car that is not fit for purpose and not reallly made for beach driving. If I did excessive beach driving and abused the clutch, I would be happy to cob it on the chin and take what comes to me, but this was not the case and I am very very unhappy with the support I got from the service department. I will never recommend bying a trition 4x4 manual to anyone, if you are planning to use it on the beach...not made for that purpose- BadgeGLX

I purchased a new triton May 2017 and now Feb 18 it has 30,000kms on it it has a stuffed gearbox and rear diff also has stuffed suspension.... it is my good vehicle and has never been “thrashed” I have never had it off-road and never had more than 2.5 ton behind it. The ride is horrible and is the worst truck I’ve ever owned for fuel economy the best I've got is 11.7 on open road. Now to get rid of it it’s worth nothing.

Triton is a great car to drive. Easy to put into 4x4 with switch. Comfortable interior. Good leg room in front a little more in back would be better. Great storage behind seat for jack and other tools. Heaps of space in tray. Easy to take canopy on and off. The only downfall is the tray area stores dust when canopy on. Would recommend to buy for price. Cheaper 4x4.

best car ever lots of room inside and drives great handles good car hasn't missed a beat since I had it. The MQ triton tows like a dream does it easy even better then the V6 Pajero I had. The triton is great on road or when you go off road. Even my friend who brought a new Hilux loved the car when he drove mind and he things he paid 20 grand to much for his Hilux and wished he test drove the Triton. I would recommend the MQ Triton to anyone wanting a great car/ ute.

I upgraded my 2014 Triton to a 2017 and it was the best move I could have made. Not that their was anything wrong with the 2014, but the 2017 car is packed full of features and it drives more like a family car than a work ute. I carry loads of gear and it never misses a beat.

This is my second Triton, the MQ manual being a big improvement on the ML. Great motor and fuel economy, terrific 6 speed manual gearbox, and cruises the highways effortlessly. The big disappointment for me if the front end. Every pot hole you hit sends shudders through the steering, and often the whole vehicle. Never had this with the previous model. Back to Mitsubishi twice. They replaced the steering shaft as it was worn out after just 25,000 km on sealed roads. Better, but it still shakes and jitters with every bump.
I'll now fit after market shocks and see if that helps. If that doesn't fix it I'll sell it and find something better.

If you like turbo lag, dull throttle response, lots of feedback through the steering wheel, being unable to turn off esp at will, a rear view mirror that doubles as a great blindspot object, using nearly twice as much fuel as advertised, doors that won't close unless you slam them, a tray that has bolts missing and left loose, unrealistic service intervals, the worst dealership backup service you though possible, and a vehicle that really narrows your choice of aftermarket wheels for due to a 46mm offset, then you need to get yourself a Triton!

I love my Triton. I have friends with Hilux's and Rangers and really wanted one but couldn't afford so I went with the Triton. Best decision I ever made because in my opinion it's just as good, if not better than any other 4x4 on tje market. It's a beast. Very good fuel consumption and affordable running costs. Drives fantastic and looks great. Haven't been able to fault this vehicle yet.

Purchased the 2017 outlander 7 seater, diesel in june 2017, after lots of googling we found this car to be in our price range for a 7 seater. Absolutely love this car the looks and how smooth it drives. It's really good on diesel too. Only problem is if you use all 7 seats there's not much boot space and we are getting the black part between doors replaced under warranty as we went through a carwash and it started bubbling. These cars are used for fleet vehicles so that there tells you how good a car they are. Definitely recommend this car

This is the 3rd Triton (second MQ) and I really don't know why you would want anything else. What a terrific all rounder, tows well, off roads competently, good on road comfort as well. Have driven the competition and have not found any reason to spend the extra dollars, with Tritons turning circle, super select "on the fly" 4WD selection, the sports models locking rear diff, all up GVM and economy its very hard to beat.

Really pleased with my glx+ so far. Drives well, lots of space behind seats with easy access via suicide doors. A bit disappointed that the club cab is only available in glx trim, would have gladly shelled out the extra for gls spec if available. Also surprised how few genuine accessories are tailored to the club cab rear, meaning aftermarket options are the only solution for some items like tub liner, tonneau, sports bar etc. Engine has some turbo lag off idle but you get used to it after a while & after 1500rpm that 430 nm of torque kicks in ...
Read morewell & takes over, surprisingly thrifty on the fuel as well. Seats & suspension both comfy for a leaf sprung Ute, even on longer trips. Overall, value for money is what these utes are all about & at $12,000 less than the equivalent models of the rival brands it’s a no-brainer for me. 5yr warranty & roadside assist don’t hurt either. Love that car ! February 25th 2018 Update: Love that ute. Bought MQ club cab ute in Nov. 2017, have put 4,000km on it since. mostly around town (no 4wd yet). Drives well, much more car-like than other 4x4 utes & 2.4 diesel engine very quiet. Wish I could say the same for the turbo though, it has a whiney whistle at around 1800rpm for the first 10-15min of operation until it warms up fully. I'm told by dealer mechanic that it's normal, not so sure about that. Unfortunately, although Mitsi are happy to sell club cab utes, they're not so keen on supplying aftersales accessories to suit, shame it's only available in GLX+ trim, as I would gladly have paid more for a GLS version. Anything that doesn't also fit the twin cab version has to be sourced aftermarket or custom made. I just modified a BT50 sports bar to suit & also had custom tonneau cover modified for job as well. Originally really wanted a roll-top cover instead but no-one makes one specifically for the club cab, so no joy there. Having said all that, I love the ute & the extra cab space it gives me & the suicide doors are really cool. Power is better than expected (except a slight turbo lag before 1500rpm) & economy is around 9 l/100km around the city. Should tow OK when I finally put it to the test.- BadgeGLX

This is my third Triton. The previous two have done the job and been 100% reliable however my new GLS model makes my previous 2012 GLX R seem a bit “agricultural”. Agree with the positives others have mentioned especially the refined engine, good handling (for a one ton ute) and the quite interior. Also really like the Apple Car Play and the quality of the sound system.
Minor negatives include having to agree that you have read the manual at every start, annoying warning that keeps going when driving around the farm without the seat belt, less head room getting in than the previous model and the clutch engaging too low (told by the service dept. that it can’t be adjusted).

GLX single cab: Used for off road farm work, crossing some 4wd tracks, building and everyday highway car. Only new so not a reliability report.
People say they're a poor man's equivalent . Cant speak for earlier models but after experiencing the MQ I say the other brands are not worth the extra money. With the Toyotas et al you think you must be getting a more refined feel or a superior product because of the price difference, but I certainly don't feel it in the Triton.. Read moreking at the five to ten grand I didn't have to hand over. I was considering the Chinese models at first, To get into the 4wd market they can be had new for $25K about, but I didn't mind going the extra round 10 to get into the japanese establishment with the Triton and not the extra $15K plus for the others, and to get to that more refined level, the latest technology etc. The Chinese and Indians are solid enough, but basic cars and I just didn't want to be lugged with the no resale if I ever decided to sell. This thing feels very good. I came from Toyota Hilux work mate and this feels like a giant leap up in terms of interior amenities, far more options a standard than the Hilux had. It didn't even have intermittent wipers. And it feels solid and robust to me and I have great confidence in it for my uses. Everyone says the Toyota is the goods. Mine did a clutch and a diff within 100K, and I'm a gentle driver. They can all do that, a lemon can appear and Toyotas are good, but the legend the Hilux is problem proof which i hear all the time is a myth.- BadgeGLX

Generally a comfortable ride, handles like most other pick ups and is reasonably quiet inside. Dislikes are excessive feedback transferred back through steering wheel from rough road surface. Only other dislike is the lack of room between drivers seat and top of door opening. I’m not tall (5’11”) but can’t get in without my head touching the opening. Impossible with any sort of hat on. Not the most powerful vehicle on the road but more than enough to get the job done on or off the road. Economy is excellent and thus far reliability hasn’t been an issue.

We looked at other utes but the price of the Triton with all the included extras was just too good.
The Triton is nice to drive and goes well, the only exception being turbo lag when pulling away from a standstill, but that's common for almost every diesel. I find it very car-like to drive and I much prefer it to the Pajero it replaced.

Solid chassis, bigger front sway bar, revised front suspension geometry, relocated longer leaf springs has made a big difference to the way it drives over previous mn triton model.
