useless

This works as well as spraying deodorant on a fly - and it was so expensive I had to come and say something but reading others reviews I'm actually in disbelief this is still allowed to be sold!

Use The Can To Kill Flies Not The Spray - More Effective!!!!

published

Sorry to say but this product could not kill a flea let alone a fly, but it did manage to kill our kids pet fish in time for Christmas. This product smells and does nothing as stated. Consumer affairs should step in and ban this product for FALSE claims.

The most useless fly spray ever invented

This stuff just doesn’t work. The only way you can use it to kill flies is to hit them with the can. I cannot understand how it ever ever made it to market. A joke.

Useless

I have had a persistent fly in the house which has been sprayed multiple times with the 'Fast knockdown' and continues to thrive. This is the most useless product I have used and is also expensive.

The right to repair: which brands are making it easier for you to fix their products?

The worst fly spray in history

published

I have never in my life used a product that was less fit for purpose. I direct sprayed flies in my kitchen 5 times and not one dropped. In the end I closed all the doors and emptied an entire can, almost asphyxiating myself and again not one fly dropped. This stuff literally couldn't kill a fly, they can swim in it, you could open a fly resort and fill the pool with this junk and the flies would thrive. What happened???? Mortein used to be the best.

Poor product, formula has changed

published

I live in a seaside suburb in Brisbane and this, newer changed formula, insect spray is rubbish, it doesn't work..fast knockdown my a×÷*!
It doesn't even fast drown the flies moths at my place.it just makes the tiled floor and surfaces slippery and requiring cleanup!
I recently found an old (10 years)Mortein fast knockdown spray can in my camper trailer
Which works perfectly with the slightest spray, kills everything instantly with minimal residue!
Come on Mortein, bring back the old formula that works.

Poor product

published

Sir, how does one use your fast knockdown? Do we hit the insects with the can or drown them with the spray because your product seems to be very weak. It used to be very good but unfortunately no more.

Waste of money

published

I thought if I spend more, it would work better than the no name brand, it doesn’t. A couple of times I’ve sprayed cockroaches before I went to bed, the cockroach will run and I will find it in the morning on its back but still kicking. Once I left one till lunch time and it was gaining strength. This stuff does not kill cockroaches, and forget flies or spiders. Worst product ever

I would have been better off spraying water and attempting to drown the fly. The spray had zero effect at all and resorted swatting to kill it. Will not buy again.

Works on other insects, but not bushflies.

published

Moths, cockroaches, small spiders - no problem, it kills them quickly. But bushflies? Those rotten little pests that hang around all the time? Nope. They’re as indifferent to this as they are to insect repellent.

How about you taking responsibility for your Mortein FAST Knockdown Fly & Mosquito Killer.
It is completely useless. I have sprayed a fly a dozen times with no effect on the fly, I think he enjoyed the cooling spray on a hot day! The only way it would have killed a fly is be drowning it in the cans contents or beating it to death with the can.

Does your insecticide kill Nairobi flies?

Speaking with Mortein Customer Service today - Adam. He has no knowledge of any issues with killing house flies and believes it may be a batch issue which is being forwarded to 'quality control'. He is sticking to the company line and essentially demonstrates no general understanding of the issue or any willingness to address the real issue. Effective on cockroaches, mason bees, ants and blow flies. House flies - no action.

This product is absolute rubbish I still have the half full can and did not find a batch number. As I said before the only way this works is to squash the flies with the can. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Jim N.

Batch number is on the base of the can - turn it up-side down. I am not confident that I will ever hear from them.

I just checked Mortein's website. The "alleged" fast knockdown spray (Red Can) has been deleted from their product list and website. Yet hundreds (if not thousands) of supermarkets, service stations, local "deli/shop", hardware stores, etc are still selling this absolutely useless product, at full cost.
I think it's time to lodge a complaint with the ACCC.
If Mortein has discontinued this product for whatever reason (useless, doesn't work etc); then surely this product needs to be recalled, removed from the shelves of said stores/shops (or, sold at a "discontinued product" reduced price; although this won't make the product suddenly work or increase from zero to ? efficacy).
