Best budget phone

published

I just bought this phone for my mum and it tickets all the boxes. It has a great battery life and decent processor that can handle most things that you can throw at it. Comes with almost stock Android experience with hardly any bloat. Unless you are a huge tech enthusiast, it can be hard justifying the price of flagship devices when phones like this exist.

Great Phone!!!

published

This phone is close to a Flagship phone. One thing that is different between the G5 plus and a flagship is the camera (since motorola had to compromise at something). But for the price that this phone is sold it is a steal. One thing that does stand out is the battery life. So if you are on the run and don't have a charger this is your phone. Overall, it is a great phone with an average camera.

Good Android Budget Phone

published

What I liked:
- Big HD screen size ( Perfect for watching videos and playing games)
- Battery Life is about 2 days for me.
- Light Weight and comfortable to hold
- Metallic Body which makes it look good.
- Fast fingerprint sensor. Can unlock the phone quickly.

What I didn't like
- The camera is not good. The pictures shot look really pale and out of colors. Low light conditions make the pictures look grainy and lose details.

Great value phone with nice specs

published

Paid $300 for this a few months after it came out - it's been nothing short of amazing given its price bracket. Camera is decent (nothing to write home about but it does the job) and processor and graphics hold up well for the average consumer. I get two days battery with medium to heavy use and the slim android wrapper means it's close to stock - which means no bloatware. Definitely recommend!

Great bang for buck

A great value for money phone. Looks and feels like a flagship phone. Dual Sim + microSD slot, fingerprint scanner and NFC are a few of its features. The camera isn't bad, but it's enough to capture some decent shots with good lighting. If ou're after a budget phone, I'd highly recommend this one.

Excellent mid-range smart phone

published

"Goldilocks size" (not too big, not too small) smart phone with user-friendly interface. 5.2 inch colourful and bright LCD screen with front and rear cameras, micro sd card slot for extra storage and Android 7 operating system. I bought this phone as an update for my 4 year old Samsung Note and, although screen size is a little smaller, I found the o/s simpler to use. Highly recommended.

Great for the price

This phone is amazing for the price tag. I always wanted an iphone but just could not afford it so I decided to go with this phone. I must say that I am not in love with the look of the phone but the features definitely make up for the way it looks.

Great value and performance

published

Makes much more sense than a $1000 phone. Does everything you need, well built. looks good enough in a case. There's no bloatware at all compared to some makes (yes samsung). I watched for a good price for a while and got it from motorolas australian supplier (the moto store) not any kind of import. recommend it

Best mobile under $400

published

Purchased one for my business because of the dual sim capacity - excellent way to keep track of business and personal calls, texts, etc. The screen is a perfect size for quick emails on the fly. Motorola don't fill their phones with too many of their own apps. Have bought a second one for the wife and my sister has also bought one.

Great budget Phone

Bought this phone to replace my old phone which i dropped and broke the screen. It has everything you would expect from a mid tear phone NFC, Good Camera, Dual Sim, Micro SD card and finger print reader. The battery lasts for me for at lease 2 days unless im doing something really intensive.

Awesome phone for its price

published

I was using an lg g6, and when I had to get another sim for work, I thought I had to compromise by using this phone for its dual sim feature. Turns out I love this phone and its as good as any other flagship device on the market. Never signing a phone contract again, outright all the way!

Great versatile phone

published

Not the most powerful phone around, but for the price is performs extremely well...mainly due to the near stock android experience.

For the price, you are able to get more powerful chinese android phone, but for the average novice user, that can be extremely confusing to operate. The Moto G5, on the other hand, is tailored for the Australian market, which makes it very easy for anyone to use.

Moving from iOS to Android

published

As a previous iOS user the Android system takes a little getting used to. Not sure if the design is intuitive or if was too used to the iOS, took quite a long time to get the hang of it and looking in many different places to find the settings I wanted to change to get my apps working how I like.

Still can't find a way to block specific apps from using mobile data and only use wifi though, which is a bit frustrating. The camera is also not if a great quality.

However the display is big and clear, the sound quality is great. All in all a good phone.

A nice budget daily driver

A good phone for anyone looking for basic use. It is cheap and has everything that a basic user would want. It is not extraordinary but is worth the price. Has an ok camera and android os too. I bought this for my grandmother and she still uses it and likes it. Would recommend.

Does the Australian model of this phone have a magnetometer? Why was my review of this product rejected, I was just pointing out that Motorola deliberately omitted a compass from this model. Please be careful to check specs when buying a Motorola product.

I've just submitted my review of the Moto G5 Plus and wondering if anyone has Bluetooth issues with their phone?? I seem to have to unlock the screen on my phone in order for my phone to connect to either my car's Bluetooth or my Smartwatch. If so it kind of defeats the purpose of having a smartwatch connected to your phone.

I've not had any such Bluetooth connectivity issues. My phone and car are always connected via Bluetooth. The only issue I ever have is music not automatically playing, but that seems to be an issue with the music player app, as calls work just fine. You've also mentioned that Bluetooth breaks up now and then, and I've had this too, when using 2.4Ghz WiFi at the same time. Bluetooth & WiFi share 2.4Ghz, and do interfere with one another. Since switching to 5Ghz WiFi, there's been no issues.

yes I purchased the XT1805 moto g 5 plus from Kogan and am having bluetooth issues. I cant seem to answer the phone normally and have to put it on speaker. I have another moto g 5 plus model XT1585 that works perfectly. I am wondering if the kogan stock was grey import?
