Pensioner was ripped off
My father is 84 years old, just recently lost his wife, he has dementia and heard water flowing although all the taps in the house were shut tight, he panicked and called Mr H2O plumbing after-hours, a tradesman came, went up on the roof and turned a tap off to the cooling system and charged him $850. This is an outright ripoff, the call out charge was $180 so what exactly costed $650 in addition to the call out charge? Tradesman did not fix anything, just turned the tap off and put a $2.00 cap on it. This company should be ashamed of themselve...Read more
s. Because they saw a confused elderly citizen, that gave them the opportunity to rip him off. No matter how many times I called asking for justification. No reply. Below is a copy of the invoice. Get lots of quotes. Do your research. Don't believe what they tell you
I had this company come to fix a leaking toilet a few years ago. The ad said free quotation. The guy arrived over half an hour late with his apprentice. They proceeded upstairs, and the first thing the guy did was to rip out the inlet flow valve. He gave me a quote of $660. That was more than the cost of the whole unit! I asked him how much was the parts cost and how much was the labour cost. He told me $70 was the labour cost and the rest was the cost of the part. I thought that if the part cost that much, then it wouldn't make any difference ...Read more
who I hired anyway, it was going to cost around that much. He said it was a special part that he needed to get. He and his apprentice then went off to get the part. They took over an hour to get back with the part. When I asked to see the invoice for the part, he said that he bought it on his company's account and I'd have to contact the company. After he finished replacing the valve, he said I had to pay right there and then. I was by myself and not in a position to argue with 2 guys. After they left, I emailed the company and asked for the receipt for the part and they didn't get back to me. When I rang them up after a few more times, the lady told me that they made a mistake and I would get a $325 refund. When I rang the company and told them I wanted to see an invoice for the part, the guy was very rude and said he wouldn't send me an invoice for the part and if I insisted on an invoice, he would cancel my refund. I still insisted on the invoice for the part, and he sent me a new invoice for the job later that billed me for the time that his men were probably off having a coffee or something (because I only live a few minutes drive from a Bunnings). All in all, they were only working for about half an hour. They could have gone to Bunnings for the parts and been back in 10 minutes. I took a photo of the packaging on the part, and found out it costs less than $30 from Bunnings. It is a fairly standard part. It has been years since this happened, but the nasty experience just stays with you forever. These are the type of people that give plumbers a bad name. Because of them, I will never trust a new plumber ever again. The toilet didn't seem to work as well after it was fixed. And a year later, water started gushing non-stop into the bowl. Called out another plumber. Turns out that when Mr H2O replaced the last valve, something broke off and ended up in the bowl, but the guy didn't bother getting it out. Instead he left it there. After a while the part that broke off moved and prevented something from closing properly, hence the water gushing.

They are scam artists and should be reported to Consumer Affairs
My mum's front garden pipes were turned off by SA Water for the local council to work on the street pipes, they left a notice in her letterbox to contact Mr H2O to get them looked at as SA Water claimed they were leaking/broken/blocked. So she called them up and they quoted her $3,300 to rip up the front garden and lay new pipes (???) they also demanded a $500 deposit first (scare tactics against a 50+ year old woman - nice). Before they came back I questioned it and asked my father-in-law to check it out. He got one of his tradies to have a lo...Read more
ok and there was no blockage/leak, etc. her pipes were fine! And he didn't charge to come round and check it out either. My Mum called them back to ask for a refund and after 4 weeks of chasing the manager he said he never agreed to a refund (verbally he did). Do not under any circumstances use this company - they should be reported to the police, ACCC or anyone who will close them down.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
They are total Scam
It's been almost 2 years now that this has occurred but it stays with you. I decided to google them this morning and was shocked that the reviews are all consistently terrible !
We had a weekend gas hot water issue at the property we rent. We called the landlord but he was away so we decided to call on these guys to have a look at it. They confirmed that they can replace the gas hot water the same Sunday at a replacement cost of $3500.
I asked whether this was the going rate as I did not get other quotes. My son was unwell so we needed it fixed urgently. They even have a portable eftpos to take your money!
The next week I discovered I could have had it done for under $1000.
Never use these guys !!!

The Biggest Ripoff Merchants of All time
Our 80 year old clay-pipe sewers backed up. After charging $700 to do a high pressure flush, they then determined a tree had tilted the pipes and the whole lot needed to be replaced.
He gave us the big scare tactic - "it might not back up tomorrow, it might not back up next week, but it will back up, and into your house. That will cost you $43,000 to fix."
Yes, you read right. These clowns tried to charge us $43,000 to trench and lay 20m of PVC pipe and connect it to the easement at the rear of our property. All because we live in a ni...Read more
ce suburb he thought he could rip us off. In the end, we got it done for $11,000, which included new stormwater pipe laid in the same trench and connected up too. Stay Away From Them!!
This is going back to May 2014. I was so disappointed in them, when I saw their name come up recently I had to write. Needed a ring replaced in a toilet of a rental property in the CBD (Melbourne). I young guy went out and said it would cost $550.
I told him to pull the other one. I just had a whole cistern replaced at another property for $200. He asked me what I wanted him to do as they would still charge me the call out fee. I paid the call out and told them to leave. A day later it was done for $150 by another company.
Real rip offs!!!

Worst people on earth
Called up for a blocked drain, they came, and they started telling me stories how they need to dig up my yard to access the pipes, I told them it was rubbish, all you need to do is run the snake through the pipe to cut up the roots in the pipe, I told them my regular plumber recently retired, used to do it on a regular basis, and he would charge me $150, they said they would do it for $450, I agreed only because my dad died two days previously and I had guests at my house paying their respects, all in all they barely poked a hole in t...Read more

Overcharging Duds!
I was quoted $580 to replace a toilet cistern that another plumber repaired for $150.
Then they quoted $508 to replace bathroom basin taps, a job I did myself for $20!
The call out fee of $49 was another ripoff and the plumber said all sorts of things to scare me into getting them to do the jobs, such as pipes could burst, taps snap off, etc, etc.
There was also some ridiculous VIP service agreement that if you bought for $143.50 would give you 10-15% discount on the jobs.
When I complained about the quotes the plumber supposedly went outsi...Read more

Puzzled, but I'm sure really over-charged!
Really hope the most recent nice review here on Dec 10 is not part of Mr H20?
But his glowing comments are way out of touch with what I and others have experienced.
Several hundred dollars for a 15-30 minute job to replace the brass water inlet valve, part of a locally made and popular Hot Water Heater Service, just doesn't seem right to me.
For memory, the whole new Aquamax system, installed a few years back over a few hours, cost just double of what I was charged for this I think named PTR Valve, which took as said above, less than ...Read more
15 minutes to fit. Okay, so costs may have gone up over a few years, but not to the extent of about half of the original new unit and installation cost, for a brass fitting which may be important but in relation to what other parts form the unit, it would be minimal. This really hurt and I should have gone directly to the manufacturer in the first place, my only excuse was other family members working shift work needed the HWS up and running promptly.Similar opinion? Complete sham
I found Mr H20 in the Yellow Pages thinking it was a business with an office in my area but it is not.
The plumber came late after getting lost despite very clear directions, quoted $300 for 1/2 hour work (on top of a $180 call out fee) and demanded immediate payment via credit card before proceeding with the work.
Unfortunately I had no choice due to a burst water pipe that had burst 2 1/2 hours earlier!!!!
Very unprofessional & a complete rip off.
I would not recommend this company to anyone.

TOTAL RIP OFF
To supply and install a new mixer cartridge in the shower I was charged $434 I found out later that the part only cost $10, The job only should have taken 10 mins but because they did not carry this standard part they had to go and buy one. Beware never use Mr H2O in Blacktown.

Couldn't get much worse
Whilst I was away on work our hot water service went down. My partner had to deal with getting it fixed and as she is inexperienced she looked online and found Mr H20. Wasn't that the biggest mistake of all time. Not only did they overcharge our job by $1000 but they turned up with the wrong size drip tray after apparently measuring the day before, this meant another whole weekend without hot water.
Could not believe my eyes at the price of the job. $1900 just to install an electric hot water unit not including materials.
Absolutely horrible experience.

If you want to pay double the price for service and products this is an excellent company. Make sure you do some research online before you call a plumber and need a hot water system. Their costs are ridiculously high. Online the hot water system I wanted was under $1000 dollars. They charged me over $2400 for the unit and the work done. Two plumbers turned up so I guess they each get paid $700 for 2 hours work? I called the manager and complained and managed to get a discount on the total price which was something I guess .Even when you ask them to justify the difference in price you get a whole lot of unjustifiable excuses. Go elsewhere!

My gas hot water system stopped and I called in a plumber from this company. He just saw the tank and asked how old it is and then advised that I had 2 options.
1) Change all the regulator valves (Cost AUD 950)
2) Replace with a new tank (Cost 2000-2500)

r had not bothered to check the ignition wire which had dropped off. This was found by me when I was trouble shooting the next day and used a gas lighter and re-ignited the tank which is in perfect working order now. Bottom line after multiple calls and talking to quite a few of the personnel at Mr H20 I got a refund (minus call out fee) but they did not fix the issue saying that originally they did not touch the ignition. I called a plumber to trouble shoot and find the cause of problem. He did everything but that. Had I gone ahead I would have been out of pocket by AUD 2500 for no valid reason. If you want a plumber who reckons he's worth $600.00 per hour, this is the mob for you.
My parents had a leak in a 30 cm section of galvanised water pipe. As far as plumbing jobs go, this would have to be one of the easiest. The pipe was outside, about a metre off the ground running along the outside brick wall of the house. The plumber would have had to cut a length of pipe, put connectors on, flared the ends and screwed them to the connection, job done. Time taken (mother was watching the clock) 30 minutes. Charge - $320.00 Cost of parts would have been $20.00, if that. Labour - $300.00 @ $600.00 per hour. Oh I forgot, th...Read more

We had something similar in regards to originally going to come on the day. I then had to arrange to have my children picked up by a friend from school as it clashed. Then, they said they couldn't make it. Then was informed it will be tomorrow. Tomorrow came, and I rung to be told the guy was on his way (8am) I again scheduled ot have my kids dropped to school by someone else. He didn't turn up until 1pm and then, as my comments state, they were useless and scamming people out of hard earnt dollars. DO NOT USE

Could you please rephrase this question for me. I don't quite understand what you want. Have you had trouble with Mr H2O too?

Because I wish to not be held liable for having written a report to Product Review before a satisfactory payment was made
how can I now show in that review that I am satisfied with the work and price thus not allowing MrH2O to hold me liable.
he cannot hold you liable - as long as you spoke the truth .- just edit your review if things have changed
