Disappointed and depressed!
I loved my NECTRA gas log fire and how it heated the whole living area until after 4 years I received a gas safety Alert from Glen Dimplex September this year on not to use the NECTRA 2000 Gas log fire until their technician could check it out for dangerous carbon monoxide fumes escaping. Checks were done and no negative pressure and no fumes, still, the main 2 ceramic logs were removed leaving one log in heater at the base which can't be seen only 4 pathetic flames coming up from the base. They need me to send them photos. I'm holding on to the logs and hoping they will put them back. I'll keep you posted.
Surely there are many other people with the same problem.
Purchased in June 2021 at Barbeques Galore.

Not Happy
Only a couple of months old. Has an annoying whistling noise. I have contacted distributor and they are the worst people to deal with. Best to avoid if possible. I have had no help from them whatsoever. Will never buy anything that they deal with in the future.
Purchased in March 2021 for $3,000.00.

Who have you contact so far in relation to this matter? Perhaps contact the manufacturer on 08 8349 8917
we have told the Glen Dimplex company who just keep hand balling the matter.

Third House, third nectre
We are in our third newly built home and we have had a nectre gas log fire installed in each. We have been extremely satisfied with the product and would recommend it to anyone who likes the warmth and ambience without the wood chopping exercise. We have just purchased another home in which we shall install a Nectre. Very economical on gas.
Purchased in April 2021 for $2,500.00.

Looks better than it heats
We recently moved into a house where the Nectre Grande Gas Log fire was installed, and this is our first winter. The label states that it is a decorative unit not intended for space heating. I agree. With a rated input of 68MJ/hr (18kW) and output of only 5kW the efficiency is not great. After 2 hours it had warmed the room slightly but nowhere near enough to be comfortable.

excellent Gas Log Fire
Recently installed a Nectre gas log fire after reading a good review on this site and a little research. Happy to say that we are all very pleased with the decision. The unit really looks the part and has taken up where the previous piece of rubbish (masport Geneva) used to sit. We started using it the same night it was installed and almost every night since. It gives out a great heat and is far superior to the reverse cycle unit that we had been using. It also gives the appearance of a real log fire, several people have commented at how...Read more
real it looks. For the first few times it gave off an odor but now it is great. The fan is really quiet both on Low and High setting. When installing the rock wool that simulates glowing embers, care should be taken not to block the gas outlets, more particularly on the front left side which appears to be the weakest gas burners. The heater was purchased from Woodpecker Heating in Mornington, who will do supply and fit if required. As we were replacing a previous gas log fire, we opted to have our own plumber install the unit as it was cheaper than what Woodpecker wanted to charge us which was a fixed cost whether a new installation or just replacing a heater as we were. Other than that Woodpecker were great to deal with.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
excellent
We bought our heater over 12 years ago and it has never let us down. We usually run it on low fan and low heat but crank it up as required. Its great after a long hot summer and the first cold winter night to switch it on and be warm in minutes.
it just does the job.

Just a query about your statement on the pros of the heater? Does your Statement "It just does the job" mean it only just does the job of heating or as a matter of fact it just does the job and noth... Read more
ing more needs to be said. I only want to clarify this as I don't want to get stung again like I did with the piece of rubbish masport that we blew our money on.It does the job, and it does it very well. As a matter of fact it is on now, we have turned the fan up to high and the heat/gas still on low. Touch wood, we still haven't had to replace the fan motor ... Read more
either. I don't know the size of your room but it does our lounge/kitchen easily and takes the chill off the rest of the house. It probably takes a good 15-20 minutes to really start pushing out the heat. I hope this helps.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Love it!
We decided to remove our wood heater and replace it with a gas log fire. After much research we chose the Nectre Gas Log fire. It looks real and the amount of energy it uses according to the brochure was much less than other brands. 28mj per hour if run on high. And it is made locally. Up until this point we did not have gas on the house. So I have kept a diary of when it was turned on and off so I could see if the 28mj is in fact true. First bill has arrived and by my calculations it is using 23mj per hour. We do not run it on high al...Read more
l day. Just for the first hour or so and then run it on low. It heats our entire 4 bedroom house if we keep the bathroom doors and bedroom doors shut. I love having instant heat at the flick of a switch and am loving the fact that I have a lot less cleaning to do. Very happy with this heater and wish we had made the switch sooner. energy efficient, gas log fire that actually looks like a wood fire the fan is a bit louder than I expected it to beSimilar opinion? Does anyone know what the warranty period is for a nectre gas log fire? I have not received any warranty car with my new heater and cannot access the Nectre Website? Strange?

I have a Nectre wood combustion heater, so can't help you with the warranty details of their gas log fire. However, I have always found them extremely helpful with queries - I email them at [email protected] which is the email address on my Combustion Heater instructions and I usually get an answer within hours.
Hi, sorry I have thrown out all the paperwork, if you cannot get on to the website (they have had trouble with it in the past), give the manufactures a call on Adelaide number 08 8260 6643. Hope this helps.

Hi I bought mine in July 2001 for $1949 plus $449 installation. I don't have any warranty details either. Back in 2001 the details were Pecan engineering 13 acorn rd. Dry creek south Aust phone 83498332. Personally I would expect 10 years warranty.

How can we keep the glass clean? What should we use. The glass is going black each day we use it.

I'm sorry to hear that, but in the 10 odd years we have had our heater the glass has never gone black or changed at all. It sounds like air is getting inside it somehow. I just looked at mine and there is an outer glass, then an inner glass as well. I would try to gain access from the back of the heater by removing some nuts or screws. Its still a great heater and we are still using the original fan too.
http://www.nectre.com is the website of the manufacturer. Their email address is [email protected]
They are very helpful and I would ask them as we have not had this issue with ours at all.

Hi, just wanted to touch base and see how your heater is going. I had a masport geneva a few years ago and it was great for a few years but the gas regulating valve blocked and was going to cost $1400 if we could find anyone that had one. I am looking to put in a new gas log fire and am interested in the Nectre but as you can imagine I am a little dubious of the entire genre of heaters. Would you still recommend this heater for a new purchase.

HI! We are very happy with this heater. The fan is a little louder than we would have expected but the heat output on low is enough to heat our whole house. Its very very easy to use and I have had people stand in front of it believing they were standing in front of a wood fire. We did a fair bit of research before we purchased the Nectre. The Nectre is good value for money and we liked that it was made locally in SA and the manufacturers are very happy to help you when you call them with questions.

legally. I won't have to gaze at this pathetic " LOGLESS" GAS LOG FIRE much longer with a few stupid flames.
