Love it and would go again when I need to. I've just worn out my first (and only)set of factory tyres and about to change to the new Cooper ATR pattern. That will be interesting.
Very comfortable seating all-round and heaps of space. Fantastic off-road and anyone who says it won't "crawl" is dreaming! It has enough in low range to crawl up and down some of the toughest that the Flinders Ranges had to offer - and that was before it had done 2000KM. Fuel economy is good considering the size and weight of the vehicle. It LOVES the open road ...Read more

This is the second Patrol I have had since new did > 200,000 kmls with first one. I came back to buy another one.
Can't go past it in terms of value for money.
value for moneyfuel economy (3L turbo diesel)Towing - 2 ton 24ft van around Australiaplenty of room for 7 people
compromise when using it on road since it's isn't exactly soft, but still a good ride, the ride reduces motion sickness if you have it in the family.

A pleasure to drive! Easy to manouver drive shafts, comfortable for off-road and easy to maintain. Plenty of room throughout, especially with seats 6 & 7 removable.
Easy to get in and out of, having the extra 2 seats was great when picking up extra kids for weekends. Good range on fuel tanks, looks nice too.

Best vehicle I've owned, but unless Nissan can offer a higher powered diesel I'll be looking elsewhere for a replacement.
Bought 2001 ST 3L auto with 73,000 klms. Vehicle now has 352,000 klms mostly on-road and has handled everything I've thrown at it including some tough hauls with tandem trailer and bobcat. Apart from normal servicing, the only problem was failure of the Mass Airflow Sensor early in my ownership and auto trans required a service, (flush & fluid change) at about 320,000 klms. I am inclined to take with a grain of salt all the ...Read more

Bad
It is clearly a man's car - rugged & big. Great for proper 4WDriving but not good for picking up the kids from school or corporate meetings in the city (hard to get into a car space AND into underground carpacks if you have a roof rack).
Roomy, Reliable, Comfortable, Huge amount of Holding Space & Power
High Fuel Consumption for short trips - not a city car at all. Low visibility around entire vehicle. Hard to park.

My sister has this car. As she has five kids and two dogs this is really a great car. It can fit everyone in as well as there bags and tents being towed behind in a trailer. This car can get in and out of any sppots in the bush which most 4WD's could't, even if they where using 4WD. This is a great car for the kids as they can go anywhere on road, or off and with smaller, messier kids, it is very easy to clean. If you have a good entertainment system then you could take this car almost anywhere.

Thanks for hail storm! Bought 2009 Walkabout for only $15K 25000kms and will do 300.000km easy. That means lot of camping and travelling for us and lot of hard work for my hailed Patrol. Look out!
Tuff looking, great with fuel (3.0) Diesel$$!, comfortable and big. 2 people sleeping inside, while camping gear sits on roof rack safely.

It's a 3ltr nisian there cheep to pick up Becouse there a time bomb. Some call them the (grenade) I would stay clear the running gear is all good but the engine will need serious money spent every 50 thousand km ?... Some people say they never had a problem and others go through a engine rebuild at 10 grand +++. The older patrol gu 4.2 turbo desiel 1999 to 2004 (that has not been malestered with cheep eBay parts) Hard to find that's why you still pay 20 to 30 thousand for them.
Ok thanks they want 9 for it. It is a stock standard nothing been done to it. My partner said it hasn't got much power took it for a drive around the block a couple times
Yeah I'd stay away... 3 ltr patrol was not a good thing.
But my 4.2 patrol is not built for speed it's build to pur along and get me there and back... I'm not in a rush and the speed limit is only 110 100 up where I go but off the track it's nice to feel safe and not be sliding around towing my camper..
