Great service start to finish

I had a flat tyre and whilst I should change it myself, I have Roadside so I used it. Great service from the call to the change over of the tyre. Ben who attended my car was friendly and efficient.

Fantastic roadside assistance!

Broke down on the Freeway at night on a public holiday. Within 15 minutes from calling had a tow truck on site and my options super clear. The NRMA Operator was professional, kind and informative. Soooo glad I had NRMA roadside assistance.

My technician James (an Englishman) was friendly, knew his stuff and fixed my car so I could get on the road again. He is an asset to the NRMA. Great stuff !!!

Need help? Just wait 48 hours!

Called NRMA today to inquire about having the battery replaced in my car. Turns out that when you sign up for membership you have to wait 48 hours before you can get service. If you want service now they charge you a minimum of $300! Normally membership is $113 annually plus $55 joining fee. There is absolutely no incentive to join at the time you actually need help. Quite the opposite. I ended up replacing the battery myself and NRMA missed out on getting a new member.

Respectful and professional assistance

Big shout out to NRMA roadside assistance in this current environment. They helped me get going again when I was travelling with my elderly mum. The service desk and the mechanic were so professional and understanding. Thank goodness for these kind and dedicated people!

I was about to leave for work when I found my car had flat tyre. Felt stress free once I called them and waiting. Also Handled my call very responsively.

I couldn’t have felt safer knowing that the NRMA roadside person was coming to get me going. He couldn’t have been more respectful or kinder. He had me on the road within 10 minutes.

NRMA have come to my rescue in a wide range of circumstances - breakdowns, flat battery, flat tyres, and unexplained 'won't start' situations.
Their office staff are wonderful, tuned in, supportive and always friendly and helpful.

20th century methods of updating payment details

In 2020 I was told over the phone that NRMA "lacks the capability" of allowing customers to update their payment details online and instead we have to wait in Q on a phone for extended periods of time. Ridiculous that the internet is not utilised, even dominos can process such a basic task. Review based purely on this fact and nothing else to do with the company.

Felt safe and supported

Unexpected breakdown in a turning lane while driving alone. I felt very safe and supported by NRMA and had the best care from operator right through to tow truck driver.

A car reluctant to start

I have been driving this car since 1912. It was not starting for me on this day. When the NRMA mechanic asked me to place my foot on the brake and press the starter it started. I swear I was not drunk.

My car wouldn’t start, I was very upset & worried. As soon as I called Road assistance I felt reassured immediately.The patrol person was very professional from beginning to end. Very polite, friendly & reassuring. A great service with a smile.

The patrol man arrived promptly and found out straight away the problem. Fixed it and was extremely polite and friendly. I highly recommend anyone to join the NRMA. Road assistance is a must when travelling alone.

Car broke down on my way to work, initially adised 90 minute wait for nrma, but he arrived within 20 minutes and I received txt updates, when he couldnt fix the issue he quickly arranged a tow truck, which again arrived quickly, was very grateful for the prompt service

Exceptional

The NRMA mechanic who came to me at my home when I had a flat battery was exceptional. He was friendly, competent and understood I was in isolation because of my age and sickness, also the fact I lived alone. He had my car started within a couple of minutes, checked the oil and water without being asked and continued to chat whilst doing so. He practiced social distancing. He even asked me if I was OK with toilet paper and hand sanitiser as he had some in the van for people in need. Such a nice gentleman and he was genuinely concerned for my wellbeing.

If I am broken does can I be towed to a repairer of my own choice within the 50km zone even if it is not close to home?

My understanding is that you cannot be repaired at the location towing is arranged to the closest available repairer within the prescribed mileage, country areas have different prescribed mileages. NRMA service teams are there to help and advise the options, I have never had any issues with the Road Services even when travelling Interstate.

Hello AJP, Thanks for your question. Depending on the level of coverage you have, only Premium Care will offer 50kms free towing Australia wide, which can be used to get to a repairer of your choice for a mechanical issue . If you do have Classic Care, 20kms free towing is offered in metro areas - which can be to the Members preferred location. In regional areas though, a free tow back to the attending town is provided for Classic Care Members to ensure a vehicle can be taken to a workshop as often 20km for a breakdown out of town will not help to get a Member to a place of repair. If you are unsure of your coverage or need any further help, please call us on 13 11 22. ( 8am - 8pm, 7 days). - Paul

I am afraid that we do not offer discounts on NRMA Batteries, however we do offer free deliver and installation backed by a 24/7 warranty if something goes wrong. Being an NRMA Gold Member, we also offer a discount on Membership fees each year for up to 2 vehicles. - Paul

As a long standing Member of over 50 years, you should be receiving a 50% discount on your Membership coverage. For Premium Care coverage, this would be reduced to $102 from $204 or $56.50 for Classic Care instead of $113.
