Bang for your buck, great for small lawn

published

It has a 360mm cutting width which is plenty for the size of my dad’s yard.
It’s super easy to start, just press the lock-off button and pull and hold the lever handle. Let go of the lever handle to to stop the mower. The lever switch with dual safety mechanism helps to avoid accidental start-ups.
It’s very light to push and easy to use. No fuel and oil to worry about.
If you have a small lawn, and want a simple way of keeping it tidy I highly recommend that you have a look at this unit.

Love it!

published

had this lawnmower for over 2 years now and absolutely love it.
Have had no issues with the motor, blades are still going strong despite monthly use.
It's not too loud and is quite lightweight.
By far the biggest plus point is the price. For this price you could simply replace the mower instead of repairing and it will still be cheaper than repair costs for bigger brand names

Good elecetric mower at $149 for small area

published

I bought this from bunnings at $149. It does the job well for small area and short lawns. Its good for kikuyu but not for buffalo lawns.
The best thing about it is its warranty. It comes with 3 years replacement warranty. If anything happens, just take it to bunnings, they give you money back.
The worst thing about is its being electric you need to carry your cords all the time.
Overall good for its price.

OK for medium size yards

published

Bought this product for my new house with around 150sm of lawn to be mowed. It is ok and does the job. It has three settings 3cm 5cm and 7cm. It has small catcher so you might need to empty it often but in terms of cutting, I cannot complain. It is easy to move it around and relatively small so doesn't take up. The space that much in the garage.

Good lawnmower for small spaces, light weight and reasonably easy to use

published

Bought from Bunnings on special.
Cuts grass well (Kikuyu). It is light weight and easy to use, you just need to remember to charge the battery. The lever to change the level of the blades sometimes gets stuck and wont let you change it.
The catcher seems to fill up quickly so ok for small areas. It also sometimes comes apart. May be due to wrong assembly?

Cheap and not great!

published

Easy to manoeuvre.
Cuts the grass but doesn’t handle anything too thick.
Tends not to push the grass into the catcher, instead it gets caught behind the blades and have to clean regularly or drops back onto the lawn.
It’s ok as an interim measure and for small areas, with low density grass but not great for larger areas or luscious grass.

Ozito 1500W Ecomow

published

Easy to assemble, super light to operate.
Whisper quiet & cuts as good as any, looking forward to many years of effortless mowing.
I was sceptical that the Ozito would do the job, no need to worry fantastic result.
There is s little juggling with the electrical lead, once you master that, all good.
Great for my small front lawn.

What do you want for $150 !!!!!

published

I have used this machine for nearly2 years now, weekly in summer, and it has been faultless. It takes me 2 hrs to mow our own grass, and 2 hours to do my daughters. NO COMPLAINTS. I have just ordered a new blade for it, and hope fully may get another 2 years from it. It also comes with a 3 tear warranty. Yes the power cable is a pain at times, but not to the extent of having to buy a petrol machine. Would I buy another? Most definitely. Now updated to 1500W.

Nice little unit, suitable for those who has small to medium backyards

published

It mowes the lawn perfectly, can be setup with different height levels, very easy to maneuver. the handle can be folded and it fits in narrow places for storage. I previously had an electrical mower, so didn't need time to get use to extension lead (needs to be bought separately), but assuming it can be quiet tricky for those who are using electrical mowers first time. This ozito can cut the very high lawn, just you need to move it a bit slower on those parts (i found it is the same with not very powerful petrol mowers). In general very nice tool for reasonable price.

Ozito Electric Lawn Mower

published

I love this little machine.
I have pushed many a petrol mower, but never again I hope, a good long extension cord is all you need.
no checking oil or petrol.
This thing is awesome, light weight, easy to empty catcher, height adjustment is on little springs next to the wheels very easy to do.
Very easy for the kids to mow the lawn with protective shoes & full adult supervision, as the machine is so light weight.
could probably even use a generator for those areas that are too far for you cord to reach from your power source.

Handy Small Practical Lawn Mower

published

We bought this lawn mower looking for an inexpensive one, as we have a very small loan.
This mower is practical, light, very easy to use, even when it's electric so the cord must be watched and avoided, then again, that's the same for all electric mowers.
The catchment has to be emptied a bit more often, and it will never have the strength and grunt to mow really tall grass, but apart from that, it does the job very well.
It's quite light so it can be moved quite easily, and the price was super low.

Great little mower

published

Perfect little mower if you have a small, low-maintenance garden. We only have 15m2 of lawn so it's perfect. If you have a larger patch of lawn it would probably get pretty annoying having to dance around the extension cord, but otherwise this product works perfectly and does a great job of the lawn.

Mowing is jow easier tban vacuuming

published

Super easy to assemble. So lightweight. You wouldn't think it'd be any good but I push it around my long yard one handed. Easy to manouver. The hardest part is getting the cord coiled and ready to feed out. It's cheap, but if it lasts 2 years it's worth it, and it's got a 3 year replacement warranty! I call it the beast.

I am good friends with my mower

published

I love love love this mower. It is the best mowing experience that I have ever had. I cannot believe how easy it is to manoeuver around the yard. Today my grass was long and straggly and thick and still wet in parts. My gem of a mower tackled all of it easily .. yes the cord is taking some getting used to and I did have it around my neck for a few moments today and had to stop the mower to have a re-arrangement. Beats the Massport in the shed that drove me crazy for 5 years or more! Thank you Ozito .. a wonderful product!

I have tried with agency - run by unfriendly people and they advised that It would be cheaper to buy their crap-product new then spare parts and maintenance. PRESUMABLY they prefer to through away and increase our Junk to export (No country would like to accept - recycled waste). Please write to Bunnings to stop feeding low quality products to Australian market.

When we switch on the motor. The blades are not automatically rotating... is it normal ... or it should automatically rotate ??

I believe it should be unless the motor feels the blade is too heavy or Over Loaded .

So when we start the machine ... the blades should automatically rotate or not ?

Allan

Your blade should rotate but I suspect the belt is broken. These machines have a small pulley at the bottom of the motor which in turn drives a larger pulley, located beside it, by means of a belt. You can see it in the pdf at http://cdn0.blocksassets.com/assets/ozito/ozito-product-manuals/oD287rXQZeFMnvZ/ELM-300-Spare-Parts.pdf. To access the belt follow the instructions written by Ken in reply to Graham below. Unfortunately Ozito do not supply these belts - because they don't want us to fix them instead they want us to buy a new one and replace it in about four years (if it lasts that long). If the belt is not broken but you can hear a slipping sound then I suspect you have a problem with a bearing. The shaft which holds the blade had three bearings on it. There are two roller bearings, one at the top of the shaft and one at the bottom just above the blade. If they are faulty it would be possible to replace them with generic ones from a bearing supplier. Give them a shot of WD40 and see if that frees them up. If the belt is not broken and after oiling those two bearings you still cannot turn the large pulley then the fault will lie in the larger bearing inside the hub of the large pulley. This bearing consists of three arms shaped as an arc and located behind each other. Each arm has a bearing similar to the style of bearing in the big end of a car motor. I found that it appears that when the unit is assembled these bearings are packed with grease which allows them to ride around the main shaft (The same one which has the other bearings). These three arms are held in place with pressure from a spring on each. Why this set of bearings is even there is a mystery to me but they appear to be the reason why the pulley won't turn. The grease becomes dry and hard with time and binds the bearing surfaces to the shaft. I found the bearings become rough and a little pitted and the surface of the shaft has gunk adhering to it. You can't replace these bearings because you can't buy them (of course you could if they would supply the damn things). I cleaned the shaft and bearings with turps and sanded the sufaces with 400 grade wet and dry sandpaper to remove the rough surfaces and then packed them with grease. Now the big problem - how to get at them. You need to remove the large pulley which is a downright sod to get at. If you look carefully at the pulley you will see that it is a nylon plastic unit which fits over a central nylon unit on the shaft. This larger outer unit houses the springs which put pressure in the above described bearings. You need to remove this pulley from the unit but you don't need to remove the inner nylon hub. If you look at the unit from the side you will see that the large nylon pulley is attached to a metal plate by three screws, which seem impossible to remove, but all is not lost. You will find a small hole in the housing above the screws, and aligning with the screws when the hub is turned. Just use a screwdriver and long nose pliers to remove the screws. Carefully remove the pulley so as not to loose the springs and then you can clean everything up and repair it as I described. If the hub is very tight or jammed as I described spray it with WD40 (all this worked for me).

Another fault I notice people complaining about is intermittent starting or just failing to start. One problem could be a broken wire but I noticed these machines have a capacitor on the housing in front of the motor and faulty capacitors have been known to cause the troubles complained of. If that is the fault you could probably buy one of the same value from Jaycar but may have to use glue such as araldite to hold it in place. Hope that helps......Allan
