I've been reading some of the review for philip avent combined steamer & blender.
There are a few mom's that complain about the item does not steam well and that water will leak from the blender and made a mess. So iwas worried that might happen to me as well. So i test it out. I purchased this machine as I was getting ready to introduce solids to my baby. Unfortunately the steamer function does not work. From reading through the other reviews on this website, it sounds like this a common problem. I can hear the water boiling in the unit but it is not traveling into the compartment with the raw food (I've even burned my finger testing this).

I had reservations after reading reviews on here but I'm glad i decided to try for myself. Some people must have unfortunately bought dodgy ones, mine is easy to use, its quiet and works perfectly for what its designed for (homemade baby food) I'm very happy with my purchase. If anything i thought it was slightly overpriced. Glad i waitied for the boxing day sales.

I was really excited and wanted this little machine to work for me and my baby but it didn't. I tried to use the blender with cauliflower, apples, and carrots and was very disappointed in the performance; it cannot be used longer than 30 seconds. The motor is very weak, and I found out that I had to finely dice fruit and veggies or else it will not turn. Well, I still use it because the steamer works fine, but I don't think it's worth the price.

I have had this for the last 4 years, and have used it for both my childrens baby food. But it has also been great for other things as well. Making breadcrumbs, some extra hidden vege purees for lasagne and burger patties ect. I use it all the time, I just wish there was a larger version. The only problem is the lid of the steamer part is hard to get apart to clean it, I'd probably take off half a star for that if you could give 41/2.

This is a great little machine except for the high pitched noise when the processor is whizzing. Is it just me or just my machine but I can't understand how this has reached product stage with such a noise. It's like the bearings are stuffed. This thing is brand new as well, we have only used it for a month.

I really love the concept of the steamer / blender and use it for just about everything for my 18 month old since he started on solids over 12 months ago. Love that I don't have to use any pots or pans plus a blender so the kitchen is cleaner.
The only issue I have is how not awesome the lid is to clean. I think the plastic used is too porous and even after much scrubbing and toothpick poking into the corners to try and get it clean I'm still left with steamed food scum on the lid. Oh and it is super loud when blending.
So easy to use, can make a weeks worth of blended vegies and tasty fruits in next to no time.

I bought this three months ago and have just started using it. Initially everything was fine. Could steam and blend all kinds of food. Then one day i realised there was a puddle of water under the unit after steaming. I tried another few times and there was always a puddle each time i steamed food for my baby. Also its supposed to beep after the food has finished steaming but it doesnt, the light just goes off. Apart from the inconvenience of keeping an eye out for it to finish steaming and cleaning the puddle of water everything else works fine

I've bought this steamer blender nearly a year ago while I was pregnant and used it for the first time today to steam carrot & sweet potato. I cut them into small cubes and after 1.5 hours and 5-6 times of filling up water the food is still uncooked & hard. Have I got myself a faulty one?

We are very happy with this purchase, steamer and blender, two in one. My wife uses it every day and all I hear is how happy she is with it; practical, easy to use, easy to clean and compact. She loves how she only needs to turn it around to go from steaming to blending. I personally found it a little expensive but it is a quality product.

Easy to use but that is about all it has going for it. The plastic stains from carrot etc, doesn't sit over the cord properly and just felt cheap and not very good quality. Wouldn't recommend and felt it was a waste of money. Got on sale from baby bunting.

Maybe I got a dodgy machine, but I tried cooking sweet potato and carrot purée for my baby twice and both times the veggies were still hard and tasted raw even after chopping the veggies into tiny pieces and steaming it for the recommended amount. I made sure it wasn't even filled to half the container and when blending it for 25 seconds x2 the carrots still had small pieces. Some parts and when I gave the food to my baby, he chocked on a tiny bit of carrot that wasn't puréed properly! So annoyed as I had high expectations and was excited to get this machine and now I have to get this sorted tomorrow morning!

Very easy 2 use and handy. Blends perfectly.
Avent products are always best in the market. Its simply the best. Easy to steam and blend and baby meal gwts ready in 15-20 minutes depends on the food u make. Its also easy to clean and one more thing do not keep blending for more than 39 seconds. Give a pause.

This is a great steamer and blender, two in one. I used this a lot when I was cooking food for my children. I found it handy when after steaming the food I can simply turn it over and blend it straight away. I blend meals from fruit to meat with veggies. It's easy to wash by hand or dishwasher. I love the spatula thing that comes with it. It helps get all the food out. I also use it to blend other things as well, like my breadcrumbs. So handy item to have in the kitchen.

Bought this Dec 2013 - only used a few times and initially it was fantastic. Then the steamer appeared not to work properly when steaming pumpkin and left too much water. When I took it apart to wash I found the plastic next tot the blade had actually burnt and melted. I did not wash this until after I'd spooned out some of the contents and am very concerned about the risk posed to the small tastes my baby girl had. This was a purchase from Xtreme Warehouse on eBay which came with all documents (which I am now searching for). Being a new parent, this has not been the best experience.

I am very happy with my purchase. I have been feeding my daughter solids for around 1 month and wish I purchased this machine sooner. I kept overcooking food on the stove, and then would find my blender wouldn't work very well because I was only cooking a small amount. This machine is perfect for starting babies on solids. I noted some other comments about the small capacity but to me that's not a problem. One batch is enough for 6-7 meals for my 6 month old. Used it since my baby was 4 months old. Very easy to use and clean. Save me a lot of time on making baby's food. The only drawback I could see is when I wash the lid it's a little bit difficult to take the inside part out (hard to describe unless you have one). Other than that I'm happy with all.

The philips Blender and steamer stopped working after 5 usage. Steamer still working but blender is not working . I bought from eBay from X-treme warehouse who claims as Advent authorize dealer in eBay. Has the 2 year warranty card it came with ?"How should I go about getting it changed or repaired ?

I was researching for the best machine that requires less cleanup as the last thing I wanted to do is buy 2 separate products such as a steamer and blender. Thank god for this invention, it makes my life so much easier as obviously less parts to clean up not to mention doesn't take up too much counter space either.
The combined feature

I absolutely love this product. I am not a big cook so I find this very useful when making my sons purees. I really like that its "one pot cooking" in that everything can just go in together, steamed and blended which means minimal mess and washing up. Every time I have used it either for meat or fruit/veg it has steamed it to perfection. There are not too many parts to it so its quick and easy to clean. The only issue is that it can't hold a large amount of food so those wanting to do very large cook ups are probably best off using another method.

I was wanting the best for my daughters nutrition and wasn't keen on packaged food full of preservatives, sugar and other numbers - so when I heard of this steamer/blender I had to try it out.

I bought this steamer/blender in 2011 when my daughter was born. After a few tries it just wasn't working - rang the company and brought it back to the chemist where I bought it. As it turns out it was oddly missing a piece! I was given a new steamer/blender and haven't had a problem since!

If you can afford it...... Buy it. It's not cheap but it's great. Easy, quick and minimal mess. I love it. I do a few batches at a time and then I am done for the week. I specially love that beeps to tell you when the steaming is done and its ready to be 'flipped'

I discovered this product on this site and it was something every mother recommended and rated very highly. I was contemplating on this product or the Baby Bullet but saw many good reviews for this one. By far the best device I have purchased. Saves time and dishes. Don't have to worry about a pot on the stove, just turn it on and walk away. It will beep once it's done then flip it over and purée! Cannot rave about it enough. Easy to clean and dishwasher safe! Worth the money. Fresh food tastes so much better than jar baby food.

Life becomes easy with such things.. And its easy to prepare sum tasty n quick meals for my baby.. Tasty quick and yummy..i even prepare sum meals for me and my family.. More often i cook soups and puree and we enjoy it loads.. The product encourages dieting as no fat added
