light and powerful

published

this vacuum cleaner sucks very well ;). it has really good power, we normally put it on medium power for floorboard and on strong for carpets. it's light and easy to handle and we even vacuum the stairs with it as you can use it in standing position. we bought it as we trusted the Philips brand and it has paid off.

Functional machine

published

Works ok, not the best nor the worst vacuum I've ever had. I have two cats so not sure how will cope with hair long term but for now it does the job and works well. I like the bagless so is easy to empty and does work/suck better when completely empty so I empty it each time which is a bit annoying but manageable

Gets the job done...slowly

published

For the price it is acceptable, does get the job done and is easy to use/clean. After a few months losing suction power due to air gaps around each connection part (anywhere that can be detached). Ok for small areas. Needs constant maintenance and cleaning to function normally. Good value for money just don't expect too much.

A little disappointed

published

I thought when I bought this vac that it would have variable speed and a small brush attachment like my old one. Now cannot vacuum most of the house as the vinyl gets pulled up because it is so powerful. It is a good vacuum cleaner for the carpeted areas.

The best suction and not bulky

published

It is easy to manoeuvre. The head of the vacuum is not bulky. Actually makes it easier to have to vacuum. We have tiles and you can also use the brush function. It's a lot lighter on the arms as well, it doesn't strain them. It's small so you can store it anywhere.

Puzzled

published

FC 8472 bought 4 months ago via a website called ... My Deal ..... no complaints until about 2 weeks ago. The great suction drizzled away to basicly none. The filter was gently cleaned after several uses regularly . The dust container emptied after each use regularly. We turned the unit upside down to find out the model number so we could make a complaint to Philips direct. Holy Moly, turned on the vac and guess what ? The suction returned . Not a good endorsement, but for now, it works ..... lol. Will keep you posted if the problem reoccurs. Philips Customer Service please note and look forward to an email reply .

could have better filter moulding

published

Vacuum is good, cleans well but the blue filter housing/ moulding tab near the black pin keeps breaking, I have been through two of the filter packs in 6 months. Not really happy about that. Also, trying to get Phillips customer service to contact me back via email is a joke or maybe they do not have a customer service department. My opinion, save your money and buy something else due to cheap filter housing/ moulding design and no customer service whatsoever.

Please don't buy a Philips Vac

published

Terrible. When you first but it great! So I get the good reviews in the first two months then it breaks. I took it back to target got a new one and it doesn't work. Got a third one and I just threw it in bin. Going to go buy another. Once the filter gets dirty it never works. You can scrub it over and over but mine cuts out and doesn't suck. So frustrating!

No Suction!! Dont waste your money on this!!

published

Bought this from Godfreys after reading hunderds of good review for this vacuum. Very disappointed with Philips, the vacuum does not have any suction while using the combination floor head and doesn't pick up hair/thread etc. What would normally take me 10 minutes to vacuum, takes around 30-40 minutes with this so called Powerpro. Can't believe that a trusted brand like Philips can make a product like this. Never buying Philips products ever..

Great Suction

published

I am very happy with this little vacuum cleaner and was very surprised by the level of suction power and general performance of the machine! Not heavy to manuvere and felt it was reasonable priced at $149 purchased from Target! So far it is easy to clean and operate and I highly recommend it.

1 year no problems.

published

It really can take a beating as I managed to clog it with fine masonry dust (about 1 kilo) until zero suction, which meant I had to wash the filter (foam + 1st HEPA) with soapy water about 3 times, but it works like new right now. There is some maintenance to it, but cleaning or replacing old style vacuum bags is similar in work done and usually more messy, the cleaning I hated especially as I usually had to take a shower afterwards, now I do this indoors. Also recovering earrings or small stuff is easy. I have no negatives at this point and really hope it will last.

Horrible!!

published

Initial the vacuum works fine, just need to tolerate the noise, but after sometime it starts to lose suction. I though it was sometime wrong with the machine, then I realised the whole filter was block!! Then I start to look for a new filter in Singapore departments store, but nowhere is selling it. Then I need to go all the way back to the service centre to get the filter, it costs me 3 times more then what I used to pay for the bags. Really regret hearing the salesman that no maintenance needed for a bagless vacuum. Never want to get a bagless vacuum anymore. :(

Started great but with its set of long term problems

published

I bought this appx 2 and a half year ago. I have had major problems with filter clogging. Tried washing and cleaning multiple times. After an online search have ordered a new filter which has not arrived in 4 weeks.
The joint at the aluminium hose also leaks air suction air making it less effective.
Godd vaccum for short term but i would have serious questions for long term use.
I am now in the market to buy a new vacuum cleaner, want to give it a last chance waiting for the filter to arrive...

Best Vacuum cleaner for the money

published

I have owned it for over 6 months,Great suction ( with 2000w only use 3/4 power on the variable knob), great 4 way filter system, easy to empty and reassemble, great price. The only drawback is the head could have wheels to help it glide on carpet but it's the best value for money I have found. I would have even paid more if it came with a roller glide head. I bought a Russell Hobbs before this one and it lasted 3 months before the suction died and the hose split.

Worst Hoover ever

published

When I initially purchased this Hoover it was fine but after a very short period of time, the suction became non-existent, we cleaner the filter as instructed and it was a little better but rapidly deteriorated and cleaning the filter again did not remedy the problem we went back to the shop and received a replacement and again that was fine for a few weeks but again there is no suction and we have a clean filter and empty Hoover, very disappointing.I am going to have buy a new Hoover agin, never never never will I buy Phillips!

Great Vacuum Cleaner - But Without Filters, Useless

published

We bought our cleaner from Godfreys a few months ago, and we're very impressed with it. It has great suction, and it's size makes it so handy and easy to move, even for cleaning the car.

As it seems that replacement filters are unobtainable in Australia, we're returning it to Godfreys - wish they had told us when we purchased it. We'll buy a different brand somewhere else.

Need replacement filters

published

Have had vac for 22 months. Initially good suction but now I'm need to wash filter and sponge nearly every other time I vacuum or significant loss of suction occurs. I vac nearly twice everyday due to dog and kid. Where can I get replacement parts? I'm in rural NSW and target country doesn't stock parts.

The filter very easy get dirty too, and couldn't get it at any department store too, very disappointed. Is not true what the promoter told me. Will never get Philips vacuum again.

Most atrocious vacuum ever!

published

Have owned this 2 months now. Have to clean filter every 2 rooms due to lack of suction. To do this you have to disconnect hose then slide out the dust chamber and then remove filter. had a Dyson previously & only had to clean filter 6mthly. Difficult to change feet on this vacuum also. Thought we'd get as much satisfaction out of the $250 cleaner - now we're looking at relegating this one to the car vacuum & getting a decent vacuum for the house. This just makes the chore of vacuuming even more if a chore. Don't waste your hard-earned dollars in this product & don't be fooled by the good suction & quiet of the machine (comes with having to frequently turn it off for filter cleaning & foot changing.
