Not as good as the old Philishaves

published

I am a long time user & Devotee of Philishaves - must have owned at least 6, always bought the top of the line and always happy - UNTIL the S9711.
Overtime I unwittingly didn't notice how long it was taking to shave and how the shave was pretty average, until I went back to an old (2 incarnations earlier) model Philishave of mine.
The old XLHQ9195 shaves in less than 1/2 the time, closer and handles longer stubble SO much better. Still the old blades in this - the HQ9 head.
I can't believe they have got it so wrong!
I called Consumer Care team and they had not read the feedback nor did they have access to the product review website. I pretty much take this as they are not interested.

Purchased at Shaver Shop Physical store for A$400.00.

Waste of Money

published

I purchased the 9000 series shaver in August 2018. After attempting to obtain a close shave for three months I reverted to my original Senso Touch shaver which shaves much closer than the new one. Also the cleaner is a waste of time and money. It is just as easy to dismantle the blades and wash it manually.

Purchased in August 2021 at David Jones for A$414.00.

Cheap quality

published

The head that comes with the 9000 series is the only head that can be used as a replacement for the RQ1260. There are many, many bad reviews pointing at the poor quality of the blades. The upgrades in motor and sensory technology are great but if the blades are blunt after a couple of months what is the point.

I have contacted Philips as recommended via a private message. The solution offered is to buy from them a SH90 replacement head. The reviews of this head read exactly the same as for the RQ12+. In other words, they go blunt after a couple of months!

Worst shaver ever

published

I have used Phillips shavers all my life and bought this model last year. I persevered for a month but could never get a close shave. I then went back to using my $40 Phillips shaver which works so much better (and $300 cheaper!). The $40 one is now past its best and I want to buy another. Can anyone let me know if Phillips have improved these models at all as I want to buy the best (at whatever cost) but I'm scared to go down the Phillips path again. Thanks

Redesign the shaver

I've had the Phillips shaver ( S9711/31) for 4 months
The shaver is quite and easy to handle but it doesn't give a close shave . I've done everything the instructions says for a close shave but it doesn't work .
I need to use a razor blade to get that close shave after shaving with the Phillip shaver .

A 400 USD beard trimmer

published

As an electric shaver user for over 10 years, i've been presented with s9711 by my wife. The first shave was terrible. It ruined my skin without a close shave . Maybe i should wait my skin to adapt. So, the second shave was terrible. Ruined my skin again. I must give a third chance to s9711. So, the third shave was exactly the same. And it continued that way. I kept trying for over 10 days, nothing changed. Turned back my old excellent shaver (braun). Now I'm happy, my skin is happy. Only my wife is sad for the money she gave and for turning my face into a tomato for over 10 days. Now I have the most expensive beard trimmer in the world. Bye Philips...

But wait... it's not all bad!

published

Very impressed with the shave of the Philips Series 9000 SensoTouch, having been a dedicated Braun user for quiet sometime. I have to shave everyday and I have found it cuts closer and results in a smoother shave which lasts longer and is less irritating on the skin than the Braun ever was. My greatest disappointment has been trying to get a replacement wash system which was faulty from the start it's now been 3 months and Philips are not coming to the party, very poor effort in terms of customer service!

Bought this shaver late last year and have had nothing but trouble with the orange retaining clips coming loose. It is a real pain and I am over it.

My smartclean system fills with fluid after every cleaning. This makes the razorhead all wet so that I have to dry it with a towel after every time I run the smartclean. This is annoying and I guess that the problem causes the cleaning cartridge to be used up at a higher rate than what is normal. Is there a sollution to this?

Sorry can’t help you on your problem.

I have had the same problem no fluid being pumped up. Stripped the unit down and found that the shaft from the pump motor to the impeller had rusted away.
