This is perfect
Love my air fryer, i’m regular gym goer and with the help of Air fryer following diet is so much easier as it is quick, efficient and cooks without any oil cooking. I can’t think of a kitchen life without Philips Air Fryer. It cooks grilled chicken as perfect as BBQ

Not too bad for cooking results of this machine.
Chips, fried food like kfc chicken ect and sausage is not oily when i used this machine.
I can easily control temperature and timers.
I think big size better than small size.
I made bread that use the this machine today.
Very good.

It was good for last 2 years within the warranty, but not working after the warranty period
I bought an air fryer on 2014 from Myer Chadstone. The model no is HD9230. I always loved using it until earlier last year April, it’s stop functioning. It started increasing the timer and temperature itself and then power button stopped completely. I know I don’t have warranty but I just wanted to let you guys know I didn’t expect something from PhILIPS. I was very heart broken. I emailed and even talk to them. But as I lost my proof of purchase and it was over the warranty period they didn’t do anything.
If Philips design something to work only within the warranty period, then what will people do?

Out Of Warranty by 4 months.
The basket holder is coated with a non stick surface but after 2 years and 4 months usage the surface begins to blister of the metal surface creating a non stick area. We emailed Phillips who suggested we buy a new basket but we decided to advise friends to never buy an Air fryer from Phillips as the warranty is only for 2 years and they will not allow 4 months grace on the problem.

Cooks well but dangerous
I've had my fryer for a while now, it cooks great, the only problem is that the tray and basket detach from one another. If I'm taking things out of the air fryer I make sure no one is around the area as I am very concerned that it will detach and spill hot grease/crumbs etc will splash every where.

i have had my e l air fryer for probably 8-9 months and i can't sing it's praises enough. I am a cook and love to cook anything i used to cook in the oven i now use the fryer for. I find your meat is so succulent and never dries out. Your roast veg are done in half an hour so all veg steam and roast get plated at the same time. This morning i did tomatoes, mushrooms put the bacon on top and cooked the whole lot together and the eggs in the fry pan. ent on line and found out how to clean the appliance properly (which should be stated n the manual) and as long as i do this procedure once a week i don't have a problem with the smoking. I cook for 4 adults every night and use the fryer for everything a long as it will fit. All my baking is ls done in there as well. I have often thought of asking to be a demonstrator of the product as i am so passionate about it I recently had one of the new ones home on trial with all the bells and whistles attached and i sent it back not a patch on the Viva. CANT PRAISE THE MACHINE ENOUGH Cheers Fay Harris Perth October 5th 2016 Update: This is a follow up from my previous review of the Viva XL air fryer. After 16 months of continuous use every day and after cleaning one evening when i turned it on the next day it wouldn't go. I returned it to Harvey Normans in Midland, and found it still had 6 months warranty and i walked out of the shop with a brand new one no questioned asked. Maintenance is the main ingredient to a healthy lifespan of the Airfryer as well as the best possible quality food as well. So it is definitely important stuff. And last but not least, regarding your role as demonstrator, we couldn’t be happier with you cooking delicious roasted vegetables and succulent meat to your guest. Some of it could be accredited to the Airfryer of course, but it sounds like your cooking game is on point as well! Kind regards, The Philips Australia TeamSimilar opinion? Was great until it completely stopped working (2 weeks past warranty date!)
Cooking has been fantastic with the appliance for two years and we have widely sung its praises to friends and family. Then just about two weeks after warranty period the machine is completely dead. No lights - no action - nothing. Murphy's Law or what? I expect better from a Philips appliance which is four times the cost of other copy-cat products. I wanted to delay rating the product until after following up with Philips Customer Care, but the review system did not allow me (Was 5 now 1 - maybe higher soon?).

Nifty mini oven
I have a whole eggplant roasting in the airfryer as I type, getting readied for Babaganoush. This device is just a convection oven with a powerful fan, labeled as an airfryer by a marketing whiz kid who wants to position its use as a low fat alternative to deep frying to consumers. I've oven fried since many years instead of deep frying. I read reviews that said the air fryer does a better job than the oven at mimicking the texture of deep fried food. I took the plunge. I don't see this as producing a better result for pseudo-frying. Once you g...Read more
et the technique down from trial and error, oven frying can produce just as excellent results as the airfryer. I don't regret the purchase one bit though. The airfryer has its uses even if I'd never give up my larger sized convection oven. I've used the airfryer to make almost everything I make in the oven - cakes, low fat frying, casseroles, pies, pizza. It takes a bit of getting used to, to figure out how to achieve best results for baking. But once you do, the airfryer is really useful when baking smaller portions, and is definitely more convenient for pseudo-frying. I use my airfryer more frequently because: 1. It generates less ambient heat than traditional big sized ovens. 2. It is faster. It preheats in a jiffy and cooks almost everything in less time than an oven because of the higher convection force. 3. Baking briefly is a far better way to reheat baked foods like leftover pizza, a pie or a croissant (than the microwave). Baking retains the original texture well and heats through evenly. Microwaving turns anything with a flour based/ other crust soggy before it makes it evenly hot. It is far more practical to reheat in the airfryer for a single or double portion instead of preheating a big oven. 4. Oven baking is more tedious and takes slightly more fat to achieve best results. The food being fried needs to be neatly spread out on a greased baking sheet because crowding produces too much moisture to create a crust. You need to stir/flip mid way through for even cooking and browning. In the airfryer, you just toss the food being fried in a bit of fat and dunk it in the basket. Mid way through, pause the baking and shake the basket. If you are making batter coated stuff, the oven is perhaps more convenient. 5. The whole baking cavity is washable. Dealing with baked on splatter is a breeze. 6. It has sparked my creativity. I airfry stuff I stopped making once I gave up on deep frying - samosas, doughnuts, fritters...... I have made airfries from every type of vegetable - beetroots, baby carrots, yam, cauliflower. They all taste fantastic.2 comments

Fantastic piece of equipment
I have a large 900mm oven which takes ages to preheat. My air fryer preheats in 2 mins and cooks perfectly in a fraction of the time that my oven does. I have not been adventurous with it, only chips, hash browns, nuggets etc, but by far the best thing it does is baked potatoes. I'm looking forward to seeing my next power bill because it must be more economical than the oven.

great device. Like it so much
Bought it for my wife, but hey it's so easy and I myself use it almost everyday.
I even recommend it for my mom. Great little fryer.
the main disadvantage is:
- No lock/safety block for the oil pan release button, hence 4 stars
- Cannot be used for some crackers
overall, love this

Bottom drawer issue
I bought our HD923050 in November 2013 and think it is a great addition to our kitchen. I regularly cook bacon, chorizo, chicken wings and sweet potato fries. Our only issue is with the basket detaching itself from the bottom drawer when taking it out of the machine. It seems to be happening more frequently and I now need to use a pot holder under it to carry it. Can something be done about this please as it is quite dangerous when the drawer lands on your feet! Do the newer models have a different catch system on basket/drawer?

How did I manage without one?
This appliance is just great.. does everything it states and so much more. Almost anything that can be cooked in the oven cooks in the airfryer in half the time. Chips, nuggets, etc fry quickly without the oil needed in deep fryers and no long warm up period. Love it, healthy great way to cook.

Do I have to use my airfryer under an extractor fan. The whole house smells of fried food this am. I have had to open all the windows in the house to freshen the air. It's dissapointing as I thought it had a filter to stop this problem. It's very noisy and I find the app and cookbook not very helpful. I'm not sure on how long to cook things? please help
4 answers
The very first time I had to use my extractor fan but since then I haven't had to. Maybe you have something wrong with yours if it's noisy as mine is quiet. I don't tend to use the app. I use the cookbook even my husband uses the cookbook.
Hi in answer to your question re using the fryer under the exhaust fan. Okay the only time i do that is if it starts to smoke. the only reason it will smoke is if it is dirty, or you have something in there that is very fatty, or as i said it hasn't been cleaned properly.
I use mine everyday without fail and all my chops. steak, fish roasts anything pre bought in a packet that has already been cooked.
I don't know how you are cleaning your fryer but that is the most important thing you have to do. Before you use it again i suggest you make up a spray bottle of water and baking soda. Take the basket and container out, tip the machine up on it's roof and spray the inside of the roof.. Turn it back put about a cup of water in the base where the basket sits,(take the basket out) push it closed turn it onto 180 and turn it on for 15 minutes. When it has finished tip the water out clean it and the basket well (don"t use a scourer)
now wipe the whole thing out especially up the top. if you do this once a week and then after each use just keep the thing cleaned by wiping it out and you won't have any trouble.
i have never used the App just if you can cook it in the oven then you can cook it in the airfryer. i also do all my cake making i it as well.
one thing i do is if it starts to smoke i will lift the basket out and use a paper towel to mop up any excess that has come of the meat then put the basket back in and carry on.
it really is very simple and if you do this clean once a week and after every use just wipe it out you shouldn't have any trouble (beats cleaning an oven.
never throw away left over bought fish and chips just wrap them up put in the fridge and tip int basket to heat through again (beautiful)
I hop this helps you i do a lot of cooking and entertaing i do all my roast veg in the basket just a mere dribble of oil over them in a bowl season and they are cooked in half an hour. i could go on and on so i'll sign off now hope it helps
All the best

Hi there,
Thank you for your review. The appliance definitely shouldn't smoke that much. Most of the times this smoke is caused by a dirty heating element, pan or basket. If food residues stick to those elements and get heated up again, they will burn and cause smoke. We advise you to clean the Airfryer thoroughly after each use following the manual.
If this isn't of any help, please contact us at 1300 363 391.

Hi, thank you for your inquiry. The Viva Collection contains all normal Airfryers, but the Airfryer XL is called Avance Collection. Main difference is that the Airfryer XL has a bigger capacity, as the 'XL' already mentions. Also, the price of the Viva Collection differs from the Avance Collection.
