Easy to Install, only had to buy an extra relay to switch for the controlled load, My usage for hot water heating has gone from 1300kwh per month to 300kwh, so well worth the purchase price .

Does exactly what it says on the tin!
The box is very well made and you can see the engineering inside when you take the cover off. Installation is a piece of cake, but when you do something silly like I did, the support was quick and outstanding. Great product and a great support behind that product.

Well over 12mths in and working great!
Our electrician found installation and instructions easy, although setting up the firmware was a challenge. Overcome this with a quick phone call to the Poweriverter team for them to talk me through it. Works exceptionally during summer with or 6.6kw solar system, but in winter our solar system doesn't have quite enough excess solar to power house and heat hot water... so a quick change to settings and it provides more boost. Great product and service!

Adaptive use of the Technology
As we constantly chase the reduction of power bills, we discovered that an area of opportunity was in the heating of our SPA (water storage tank), not too dissimilar to a hot water tank heating up over night, we worked out that we were exporting more power back to the grid than we were using to heat the SPA water each day so it was ready for use, within a couple of degrees, anytime we wanted it. The "adaption" of the technology, working with Powerdiverter allowed a solution which connected the system to the SPA heater so when we have excess po...Read more
wer from our panels, it stores the energy in our SPA so we don't have to heat it later. With the use of a simple timer restricting the application to 3 hours each day saves us an additional 27 - 48 per month or $100 per qtr.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
A great Investment
What can we say?
We remain most impressed with Power Diverter & because of it have seen remarkable savings in our power usage, quarter after quarter.
In our case, the installation location was fairly straight forward by having a Fire Extinguisher cabinet under the switchboard with spare room & since Day one it has sat quietly saving us money as promised.
Dan & his Technicians were most helpful at time of installation & since, with any queries we may have had promptly answered.
Thank you, Dan & co.

Excellent reliable product that does what they say, save money
We are very happy with the Powerdiverter product and support from Dan (Powerdiverter Company) during the installation. The Powerdiverter unit is a very easy install, but as we are a 3 phase connected house the first version of the 3 phase wireless sensor was a little challenging, but with assistance from Dan the installation was completed August 2018 and has been very reliable. We also have Solar Analytics monitoring installed which not only makes solar production and power consumption usage information available, but in our case also monitors ...Read more
usage by the Powerdiverter, both day (excess solar diversion) and night (Load 1 off-peak). I have limited the Powerdiverter off-peak overnight usage by setting it to a max duration of 3 hours (within the middle of the off-peak on time) via the Powerdiverter timer which is enough time to fully heat a 375L tank from lukewarm hot water, if and when required. Normally, very little overnight off-peak is used as most of the heating is done via excess solar during the day. It is a stipulated requirement by my partner that we always have hot water available every day, plus we have a teenage daughter. To avoid any off-peak usage when on extended vacation, all we need do is turn off the PowerDiverter timer so no off-peak is used during that period. Over the last 5 years we have had three different makes of excess solar power diverters installed, and now we are finally very happy with the Powerdiverter product, both in reliability, functionality and the fact that there is no operational management required. Set and forget, but monitor, in my case via Solar Analytics. Initially when there was nothing available in Australia, I obtained and installed an Optimmersion from the UK. The Optimmersion did exactly what it was designed to do, but was limited to monitoring only a single phase in a 3 phase environment. When eventually the Optimmersion company folded, I looked for an alternative but this time one that monitored all 3 phases. The Blue CATCH-3 Power seemed to fit the bill, so had one installed, only to eventually realize the real intelligence that made the unit work correctly came from the remote CATCH Power Server via communications across the internet. This is not what I wanted as the CATCH Power unit did not perform as required when communications were lost (does happen) and therefore the CATCH Power was uninstalled and they provided a total refund. This did not happen overnight, as I had many months of communications with the CATCH Power Company, to the point that I became an annoyance: it may have worked as they designed it, but did not work as expected. Remember this was early 2018, I do not know what the Blue CATCH-3 Power does now? In August 2018 the PowerDiverter was installed, it does exactly what is required, uses excess solar power during the day and if necessary uses LOAD 1 off-peak power overnight limited to a max of 3 hours set by the Powerdiverter timer. We now always have hot water, for less cost, despite the weather conditions. I highly recommend this PowerDiverter product to make use of the excess solar power generation.1 comment

Diverter still going strong after several years.
We have had our diverter for some years now. The first electrician didn't turn up to install the panel. The second one had never installed a diverter. In spite of explaining to the electrician the set up of the meter box, he didn't install it correctly and I had to rewire some of it to get it to work.
I'm sure there are more experienced electricians around Sydney now.
However the diverter is still working beautifully now and we are happily getting our "free"hot water.

Reliable quality product
The installation of the Powerdiverter, being a new product on the market, had its specific challenges for the installing electrician. Dan's input smoothed the way for the electrician.
Any issues, such as initial installation challenges were responded to helpfully by Powerdiverter.

Optimizing the electrical power your solar system generates and decreasing bought in electrical power
I am very happy with my Power Diverter. It was easy for the electrician to install and was up and running quickly. I have only had a positive experience dealing with Power Diverter. The Diverter works very well and I have hot water from my electricity now. No need for buying in power or selling back at a low price. This Diverter optimizes the electricity I produce. Great product and I highly recommend for anyone with a solar system.

A great addition to any household solar system.
Purchase and installation were hassle-free. Daniel provided a personal and informative service. I believe our unit was the first in our area, and Daniel found and briefed an installer for us, who has since become our regular electrician!
The unit has been going for over two years; there are perhaps a dozen or less days a year that mains boost is required, and then usually only for an hour. I haven’t done the sums on exactly how much money it saves us, but our overall electricity bill is certainly less now that it was before installing the power diverter. I have no hesitation in recommending this product.

This is a must have investment
My home is my biggest investment, thats why I installed solar. My aim was to drop my living costs, because I am retired and there isn't anymore money coming in. I did my research on all the options including batteries, but for me it was all about the payback time. A diverter device to charge my hot water tank (which was over 30% of my electricity bill each month), seemed like the best solution. I researched all the other brands, but Power Diverter was the the most affordable I could find. I spoke to Dan on the phone and he explained how it work...Read more
ed and answered all my questions. The installation was done in a timely manner, and didn't seem to involve too much messing around. I had my doubts afterwards that sometimes my solar would not generate enough excess to heat my water tank, but I was happily surprised. It has been 4 months now, and I haven't needed to use the boost once. I didn't get the chance to really see the magic until I got my first full power bill and saw the difference. I was paying $100 per quarter to heat my hot water tank, which is now practically zeroed. Thanks Dan, thanks Power Diverter, thats a pat on the back from me.Similar opinion? Everyone should have a Power Diverter
My wife and I installed solar last year expecting to save a lot of money. What realised quickly, that we export the majority of it back to the grid. Our feed in tariff is only $0.07 kWh and our Off-peak tariff is $0.18. We researched all the products, and a friend of ours told us about Power Diverter. The installation went well. We organised a fully installed Power Diverter, and the first full electrical bill we received we saw our Off peak charge was almost completely gone. We haven't had any problems with the Power Diverter, it is performing ...Read more

I believe everyone should have one of these products to allow them free hot water generated from their own solar. It just makes sense.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Avoid Powerdiverter
My story is similar to the genuine review below. (Note the other '5 star' review here is from the seller which i believe violates the terms of this website. I am a big fan of solar and renewables and decided to take a risk in supporting what looks like an innovative product.
Seven months ago I purchased a Powerdiverter - on the basis of 2 claims, a verbal claim from the very charming proprietor that a full refund would be provided if the product was returned unused, and the claim on the website that installation would be supported:

“We have Australia covered! Powerdiverter have invested nearly 2 years approving installers all over Australia who are ready to provide a proffesional (sic) installation service. A qualified electrician connects Powerdiverter to your existing electric hot water tank. Your installation will take approximately 1 hour. No Plumbing, no extra electrical circuits, no need to change your hot water tank. It really is a no hassle installation. We have a huge network of approved installers covering every state of Australia waiting for your order. Proven product and trusted reliability with thousands of Powerdiverter sold worldwide.” These claims are false. After I foolishly paid in advance he told me: “Just researched good electricians in your area and have just come off the phone to a gentleman called [name removed] who is interested in installing your Powerdiverter for you”. [name removed] never turned up and no other electrician was suggested despite repeated requests. There are no "approved installers all over Australia’, and no “ huge network of approved installers covering every state of Australia waiting for your order.” I was left to find my own electrician. The website claims it is 'easy, hassle free to install in under an hour'. But each installer I consulted independently said it was in fact a much larger job than 1 hour. Even when i agreed to pay significantly more than indicated by the seller, the electricians I contacted were unwilling to install the product as they did not believe it could function as described and that the wiring diagrams in the manual did not make sense (as the genuine review below also says).1 comment

Hi Everyone,
It is deeply upsetting to see people go out of their way to hurt small businesses trying to do the right thing. ... Read more
Firstly and to put the record straight, the customer advised us his existing electric hot water tank was leaking around a litre a day. We advised him to have this replaced before fitting our unit however at the time he said he couldn't afford to do that and wanted to fit the Powerdiverter anyway. This guy purchased our product to supply only and we offered to help him find an installer in his area to survey and quote for the works as it was not a standard installation. Our suggested installer gave us a guide price for the installation based on the information the client gave us however, the reality was far different and the customer decided not to go ahead. We were not aware the installation didn't go ahead until several months later when the client called to advise us of the situation and turned it back on us to say we had not delivered our promise. We offered several times to help him however he was being very strange towards us, he complained to the NSW office of fair trading which was thrown out because after we provided our evidence and email trails to the office of fair trading and they decided we had done nothing wrong. We later found out the reason why he was causing so much trouble and that was he decided to install a solar thermal system and didn't want to confess to that and so went on an attack of lies to try and get a refund. This customer has a track record in hurting good companies as you will see by his profile. We ask you please not to judge our company or our product based on his false statement. We have over 6500 very happy customers all enjoying free or very low cost hot water and saving hundreds of dollars each and every year. We develop tech to help people not to upset them. Unprofessional and terrible after sale customer service.
I have been researching product that will divert exist solar to hot water system rather the going back to the grid. This guys came on my radar as they were cheapest on the market from the other competitors.
I have many many questions, they seem to be able to answer my question and plus more... promising me the world... I gave them a go. They require me to pay for deposit for the product before they could come on site to do the installation. He was also pushing for me to book for the certain date as they have another install around the area...Read more
. They arrive late due to previously installation went overtime. I notice the electrician that came with him were sub contractor. Later I found out, he just hired the sub-contractor as contractor were quite new the product. Once they inspect the site, he realize he had make a mistake with the quote his given me as require additional device in the switch board due to switch board and water tanks is on separate of the house. Contractor advise this will cost extra labor installation fees... We had discussion and agreed that he would supply the device for free and I would pay for the additional labor cost. During that installation, Installation took along longer the expect as contractor were trying to work out wiring diagram provide from the product. The person the provide the provide had to rush to catch a plane so I was left there with the contractor trying to figure out how to get this to work. Eventually contractor work out and it working. He said you need to switch dedicated circuit to only the heat 8 hrs otherwise you meter will draw power from the grid as well. He then said, the wiring on the booklet diagram is incorrect should be updated.2 comments

Laurian T.asked
If I ordered a powerdiverter unit, is there anything else that I need to order to have pv production monitoring?
3 answers
The version of PowerDiverter I have installed has no monitoring to review.
I do not know what the PowerDiverter Company has planned for the future.
For monitoring, I chose to have installed and use Solar Analytics (https://www.solaranalytics.com/au) for my household 3 phase environment, solar production (3 phase), Consumption (3 phase), single phase excess solar consumption by the PowerDiverter, single phase separately metered off-peak consumption by the PowerDiverter & single phase consumption of the ducted aircon.
Solar Analytics (https://www.solaranalytics.com/au) uses very similar hardware to Wattwatchers (https://wattwatchers.com.au/) for monitoring, but as far as I'm aware each have their own back end analytics, charts and alerts when necessary.
These monitoring devices are available with WiFi (W series) or cellular (M series) communications in 3 or 6 channel configurations.
In my case I opted for cellular (3G) using 1 x 6 channel (3 phase production & 3 phase consumption) and 1 x 3 channel (1 for Powerdiverter excess solar generation used, 1 for Powerdiverter separately metered Load 1 off-peak use and 1 for Ducted aircon to understand its power consumption.
My Solar system is made up of a 3 phase SMA inverter with 5kW in panels, plus a 3 phase 3 kW Enphase system using S230 inverters. Really, 12 panels with S230 Enphase inverters is only a max of 2.76kW on a very good day, if lucky.
Note: The SMA (Sunny Tripower) has production monitoring when connected to the internet (SunnyPortal). The Enphase system has both (3 phase) production monitoring (includes production by the SMA system as well) and (3 phase) total consumption via the Enphase Envoy to the Enlighten WEB site (https://enlighten.enphaseenergy.com/).
But, I use the Solar Analytics WEB site monitoring all the time, except when I need to check any detailed info from the SMA or Enphase systems.
Hope this helps.
The Power Diverter only recognises excess power which can be nominated for off grid storage, it doesn't provide a monitoring function of the inverter activity, I suggest this is best done by talking to the PV installer used regarding connectivity or look up in the manual regarding how to read the charts displayed by the Inverter.
I know via my bills that I have excess power going into the grid, yet I also have consumption when the panels are not producing, so I let the PD unit operate as a priority to store as much as possible when its available.
You say:
"The Power Diverter only recognises excess power which can be nominated for off grid storage,..."
On www.powerdiverter.com, THEY SAY:
"You can now monitor Powerdiverter and more in real time. We have partnered with Efergy who are specialists in online monitoring".
Is somebody here who use powerdiverter with this feature?
