ANZ (QBE) Home and Contents up 20%
Got renewal. Premium up 20% with no explanation from customer service. And they don’t mention the increase, you need to check the premiums yourself or they’ll just slip the increase in hoping you don’t notice. I suspect this is a profit clawback due to recent bushfire payouts. We live in metro Melbourne so no increased risk here. I gave them the chance to lower premium. They reduced it by 5%. I went with Youi and saved $800, like for like. ANZ will insist that their policy covers replacement of building without the need for you to specify limit...Read more
. But they won’t tell you what estimate they use in calculating your premium. Of course they use one, insurance is a mathematical probability business. They obviously add a significant buffer hence the higher premium. Thing is the statistical probability of you ever needing full replacement is very low. Don’t throw your money away. Shop around.

They use Sedgwick to commit fraud from customers
They use 3rd party Sedgwick to commit fraud on their behalf. Deliberately will deceive you. They do not focus on customer satisfaction. Take photos and create a portfolio of evidence.

Claim warning
After 30 years my first claim, a hail storm, rejected. NOTE its ANZ\QBE neither company should be in insurance. Out of five tin rooved houses on my side of the street thanks to QBE I'm the only one not getting a new roof, the advice I received from the insurer was to fix it myself and paint over the stains on the ceiling. Not only am I shafting the insurer but the bank who recommended them as they just fobbed me off when I asked for assistance. I seek comfort in the fact that both originations will loose more income from me moving forward than fixing the roof would have cost them. If I sold a product with no intent of honoring it I would be in jail.

How can u warrant expecting people being happy about the flooring only being replaced in one area because of a doorway??? my house that is all laminate flooring is in every room even my games room but because doors had to be added for the air con efficiency now renders this room not part of the repair agreement!! I am not having 2 different flooring planks loosing house value cos they have a pathetic rule I want it fixed to the original state it was built in not your cheap fix I pay u so if I have a flood in my kitchen u fix it back to before ...Read more

Pity cannot go below zero - terrible company
I had my storage insured with QBE to discover upon making a claim that they refused to pay despite photographs clearly indicating damage. From other reviews and ratings it is clear that I am not the only person to have experienced such lack of accountability, responsibility or customer care. Our recommendation - do not go with this company.

Watch out - It is not what you signed up for with QBE.
I took out LANDLORD insurance with QBE only to find out when I had a claim that they had only sold me house hold insurance to make it cheaper than the opposition. So I made them go back to the recording of the conversation when I took it out, and sure enough it was to be LANDLORD insurance so they requested for me to pay the difference before they looked at the claim. Then they did not pay for malicious damage, due to hidden clause "Optional Benefits"

Not happy
Have been with this company for 5 years now. But after the first claim, realised that everything was hard and im leaving this company. It all started with water damage to the house and after multiple calls to them, they ensure me i can delay the repair as long as possible since i got the source fixed. We delayed because of the new baby arrival. After a few months, got an email saying we need to claim it within 6 months. All the phone calls before this became invalid. All false information provided from phone service. At the end, they said on page 50 of the contract it mentioned that all claim need to be done within 6 months and they 'assume' im aware of this when I enquiry over the phone.

They used to be a nice company. Not anymore.
I've changed this review from one Star to Five Stars. Read all notes and replies below.
Been with QBE contents for 31 years. 1st claim in about 18yrs and you throw some accidental damage clause at us. Never heard of this nor has it been explained to us, one would think it's part of the policy. We also have car insured with you and I have my 4th annual travel insurance with you(which you are dis-continuing). The claim is for water damage after the washing machine hose had fallen behind the machine. One this was realized he rushed to try to move...Read more
the heavy machine to get the hose. Breaking to lid on the machine. It's all the fine print....need to be a lawyer to understand that fine print. Once the claim is settled I will be parting company with QBE after 31 years. We've been loyal to you but your don't care about us. You also say it would be a separate claim and another excess even though it all happened in the one go. Shameful QBE...you used to be a nice company.3 comments

There is no value in this insurance now, have been with these people since they took over my policy's from Zurich 24 years old who l miss greatly, now l have only one left from seven and l will be cancelling today as they now have an overseas call centre who pass you to there supervisor if it gets to hard or it's not in there program, and you never here from them again, so one star is to good they do not rate, they are that bad, from a client of 30 years plus !!!!!!!!

Increased fees by 25 Percent since QBE took over ANZ!!
Be warned our ANZ Home Contents Insurance (Run by QBE) has increased by a whopping 25 percent this year alone! Ever since QBE took over ANZ Insurance they have gone downhill I read.
We cannot afford that sort of increase every year! We are pensioners,
I rang up and asked how they justify this increase instead of the usual 3 percent inflation rate?
Got the usual avoidance answer: "Each area increase is determined by claims etc!"
Why don't they then provide this proof by showing us their stats? NO WAY.
Anyway I even spoke to the supervisor, "sorry they cannot help reduce it".
Be warned 25 percent each year increase is a joke. What about the following year, 50 percent?
No wonder Insurance companies have a bad name.

Jacqueline what a service 11/10 service thank you
Had a broken window thanks to the might of mother nature.
Had a bit of a wait to get a hold of an incredible customer service representative. I gave her a 10/10 on the phone survey but feel that seems a bit weak.
The call was received after 45 minutes, some people would be frustrated out of their minds for this but how many calls do you think they have had? Exactly, the world is not about you.
Jacqueline was very helpful, and super patient with the house owner who could not speak an ounce of English. After soldiering on for 5 minutes of excruci...Read more

Never let me down
All incidents are not a claim, even if you think or want them to be there has to be an appature opening due to storm damage not just that water penetrated during a storm (bad building is too common a reason) normally a burst pipe is not however resulting damage is, wind damage for most part is, theft, malicious damage etc is covered with police report .they are a big reputable company and your genuine claim is not bigger than their reputation.i and my family have been with them forever, always helpful. I will say outside assessors can be the problem, them qualifying there existence, ask for in house assessor if not happy i say the company is great but every thing is not a claim

CLAIM, WHAT CLAIM
Went to claim in 2017 after nearby cyclonic high winds had caused water to leak in garage roof .....was refused the claim as apparently the builder in 1972 had failed to seal the flashing correctly, pleeeease! Despite the rejected claim it still appears on your renewal for four years as a claim????? After the initial policy the cost of the premium jumped ridiculously so time to shop around!

change to underwriter policy regarding rewiring of home
I have been with QBE insurance for 15 years. I recently received a form letter saying QBE will no longer have the option of 6 monthly payments. I called to see what my options were and also to get a new quote with a higher excess as I had been shopping around and QBE was about $500 more annually than Budget Direct or RACQ. I was told they couldn't assist me and it was best to ring for a brand new quote. I tried online for quote but system advised unable to quote, so I rang and spoke to a very helpful guy Joe. He went through the questions for a...Read more
new quote, my house was built in 1935 and this triggered the question, Has your house been completely rewired? I replied no but it has been fitted with a safety switch. Joe referred to his supervisor and came back to say QBE could no longer insure me due to no rewiring and that they have had a change in their underwriters policy about accepting additional risk and that all houses built before 1945 need to be rewired to insure with them!!! I was speechless! I had been very happy with QBE and had a major storm damage claim in 2014 that they processed to my satisfaction. I now have to find a new insurer and wonder if this is an ongoing insurance industry issue.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

They do not deserve even a single star!
We wish that we had seen this page much earlier. I am shocked by the number of bad reviews that I have found here.
Why should such a insurance company be allowed to be in business!
We had our home and content insurance with ANZ/QBE for more than 9 years. We took QBE insurance via ANZ bank, and I should be honest that we were fooled by ANZ bank assuming such a reputable bank will not leave us in the hands of such bad insurance company.
We had a leak in our bathroom almost 2 month ago, and QBE contracted Midcity to investigate the issue. Just g...Read more
oogle Midcity on Facebook and find out about them yourself. The Midcity report is full of wrong statements on my behalf and false claims about the situation. I have written evidence from my builder that contradicts QBE claims, but yet QBE only refers back to Midcity report which provides no actual evidence and it is only opinion of the plumber. If you just google Midcity and read their reviews on their own Facebook page you will realize why you should not trust QBE.1 comment

Disgusting, be warned
My mother holds home insurance with QBE. She died recently and we are in the process of selling her property. In the interim I dont want the insurance to go into arrears as she paid monthly. I contacted QBE to attempt to make payments to prevent this. They initially refused to assist until I demanded to speak to a supervisor. She was little more help. Long story short, I have now complained to The Ombbudsman. This shouldn’t be so hard, people die every day. I’m not trying to steal from them, I want to GIVE them money. DO NOT insure with them. The amount of poor reviews tells the story.

DO NOT USE THIS INSURER
I would not use this insurer, I had my block of apartments with them and a Tenant damaged one apartment. They said the apartment previously had a leak and then wouldn't cover any damage. Even with clear before and after reports.
