Ripped off and lied to
I was told that my brakes urgently needed seeing to and when I took it to another service provider I was told that the brakes had no problems and would be very safe for at least the next year. As well as this they quoted me $70 more in store than what their website claims. Do not use their car service at all.

Extremely rude customer service
I had road side assistance which I let lapse cause I didn’t want it any longer. The rac sent a letter saying they were offering me 3 month free road side. I thought wow that’s generous. Then the following year I got a new car, new caravan so wanted to insure with RAC. At that time I paid for all the insurances & started road side assistance again. That was June 2018. Today I get a renewal notice for road side assistance being from October 2017 & is now due. Apparently I paid for insurance for the period I didn’t want road side assistance & now ...Read more
is due again. So they charged me for a whole year of not wanting it. I rang customer service & explained & she told me it was normal & I’d have to pay the renewal. When I said i will be looking elsewhere for insurance she hung up on me. Not once did I swear or use bad language or got angry. She just hung up. Her name was Judy. Rude, rude, rude, How poor is this customer service. They don’t try & work anything out with you they just hang up on you. I assumed it was a new policy since I was insuring all my vehicles at the same time. Not the case. Now I have to pay another 12 months when I’ve already paid for a year that I didn’t want.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
RAC WA car Insurance - unsatisfactory
1 Star because the policy was easy to set up. I had an accident where the other driver hit me in the rear right while exiting the roundabout in outer lane (there was car in inner lane going same direction as me) and according to RAC I was at fault. How could I possibly have seen a fast approaching car that hit me at rear right of the car! We paid excess $550. Car was repaired and the repairers took off mad flaps and didn’t replace. Cheated by tapping break lights instead of fixing the broken bit. Informed RAC and Nigel was the guys we were deal...Read more
ing with the whole time. Issues were never resolved and [name removed] was incompetent enough to say I was at fault. Cancelled my insurance with them and now I need to cancel my house and contents insurance.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Stressful, tedious and disappointing
House was damaged by tenant, then later again by unknown persons.
RAC offered to pay for damage by tenant, but withdrew it after learning about the second incident.
House has a hole in the exterior wall, made during the break in, and RAC want me to wait 45 days for formal police report before helping. I explained that we cannot secure the house and additional damage could occur due to hole in the wall, but they are unsympathetic; (because they probably wont cover that damage) and I'm left with doing whatever I can to stop anyone from enterin...Read more

threat made to me by customer service operator regarding policy mistake
bad service made me feel like I was trying to pull wool over the eyes of the RAC, and I wasn't, the "customer service operator" who was Scottish, in her own words that "you have been warned", that's because I made an honest mistake on behalf of my husband who has chronic fatigue syndrome, and I have to take over his finances as his wife. to be made to feel "inferior" like I deliberately let two payments on our policy slide, on purpose, was disgusting, and then been told "warned that if the funds were not there my policy would be terminated.. y...Read more
ou have been warned!!" that was disgusting, and horrible, that lady did not show in her tone, any customer service empathy, rather that it was my fault, and I should know better. When I explained the situation she had no sympathy what so ever!! I have never been made to be feel so inferior in my life!! I am a full time carer, and have been with the RAC for a long time, almost 18 years, and to be treated like this is.... honestly RAC should retrain this woman!! She showed no diplomacy, and I am already going to look elsewhere for another insurance company. Retrain your staff NOW!! Don't make someone who is trying to do the best she can, with an ill husband and not coping because of your insincere staff!!!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Worst service ever
Just switch to SGIO. my brother was away and told RAC to inform my dad through call or email on the progress of his clams before he left for his vacation. RAC failed to do so as such I was asked to call on behalf of my brother to call them up. All I ask is a follow up on the email. The guy on the phone line was like “I can’t do anything for you, as you are not under the the policy holders.” If it’s a breach of privacy policy I understand but it’s been 3 weeks, since we filed the clam and you couldn't update us on the progress? All I was asking for was where’s the email that we were promised off 2 weeks ago?? Where is it!!! Honestly RAC users just switch to SGIO it’s so convenient and it saves you a ton of aggression.

Absolutely disgusting customer service from the staff (one in particular if i could remember her name i would name her)! The person iv been dealing with could not have been less helpful if they tried. I work in customer service and if i dealt with a customer like they did with me i would be fired on the spot.
I made a claim and so did my mother and we've been given about 5 different claim numbers with different amounts to be paid. We actually paid one and they sent us the money back a...Read more

car accident
I have been with RAC over 30 years, My son met with an accident and received bad customer service from claims department, Inexperience Staff and poor product knowledge. No longer Trust this organisation. Once was the best insurer in town, perhaps the change management for have poor quality staff.
When my first claim was made I was paid market value not the agreed value as stated in the policy. Staff do not return call to discuss the issue. Select your Insurer first before you select the car.
Currently 12 policies held with RAC, I will review all my policies.

Was happy with them until the renewal quote came through.
They were the cheapest when I signed up to them and used the RAC benefits card a couple of times such as the Woolworts Gift Card discount. But when the renewal quote came through after thee first year they were one of the most expensive quotes & would not budge so I moved to AAMI. Never made a claim with them.

RAC are a Joke
I wouldn't recommend RAC to anybody. They charged me $1,047 for damages on a car that I hit at 3km an hour. They had no photographic evidence to justify the excessive cost. They just expect you to pay for damages that they have no evidence for. They replaced a bumper on a car I hit at 3km an hour that didn't even have a visible scratch in the photo i took at the scene. Their a joke and i quickly cancelled my car insurance with them after this incident.

They leak your personal information to third parties
They leak out your personal information. Poor IT management.
Scammers called for a post accident compensation on a claim that went through rac
Then other companies like AIA call you using personal details provided to rac to offer life insurance etc...
Privacy standards are very poor.

If rolling my 4wd wasn't bad enough RAC managed to make a terrible situation an absolute nightmare
RAC needs to take responsibility for their repairer's actions and workmanship.
I have not had my car since the 12 August 2017. spent countless days dropping the car back and forth to repairers who cant do a job correctly and lie to my face when I question them with proof work hasn't been completed and incorrect parts used. The vehicle was collected and driven 1km and the tensioner breaks and they are claiming its just mechanical failure ..... the car was running before the accident it should be returned in running order (tensioner was replaced...Read more

I have roadside assistance and one day my car was making a strange irregular ting ting .. ting type sound coming from the engine bay, I called out RAC roadside and the mechanic said not to drive it and recommended I get it towed to the nearest service centre and would then get the free 30 minutes diagnosis on what the issue was prior to any repair costs. Firstly they don’t advise you that if their diagnosis has to remove the engine cover which may I add, for my car, takes two minutes or less – they then call and you have to pay an extra charge for their labour. They diagnose my car with having a stretched timing chain, Which had been broken the guides which was allowing the chain to hit the cover creating the sound. This was correct, and I did not really have an issue with this part of their service. The repair was done within three or four days, and as my car is a 96 model I understood they would need to order parts etc so that time frame was reasonable. I then went to pick up the car when it was ready, and a young mechanic who had been working on it was the one who drove it around to the front of the service centre – This was in Embleton Perth W.A. FYI – I turned on the car and listen to the motor, there was no more sound, which indicated they had done the repairs and the car was now running better. I drive the car around the block, and started to hear a winding sound – I then drove back to the RAC Centre less than 400 m, and went inside to question the whining sound. The customer service representative at the desk then called the mechanic/technician who had worked on my car back to assist me at the front of the centre. I lifted the bonnet and turn on the car and pointed out the whining sound I was hearing to which the mechanic said it’s likely just the fan belts sometimes they squeal – he goes inside to retrieve a lubricant spray – comes back and sprays the pulleys, and waits... The sound does not disappear but he assured me that if I allow the lubricant spray to work the sound will be gone after driving a short way. After this encounter I drove the car a total of 30kms back to my house and parked in the garage which has a carpeted floor. My intention was to sell the car, because in the meantime I had needed to buy a cheap replacement vehicle to get to work. My regional car then sat in my garage for three weeks while I re-sprayed and sanded and re-sprayed 80% of the panels on the exterior of the car With aims to sell for a higher price. After my painting was complete I then drove my car a further 45 km and as I was then reversing out the driveway, The car would not engage my reverse gear. The shifter on the automatic transmission moved into HDR easily, however the car it self would not engage into reverse at all. The house I had pulled into was actually my grandmas house - which is 600m from my own residence . I managed to push the car out the driveway and shifted into drive - the car responded and engaged into gear - so I then drove at 15kms an hour and parked it again at my own home . I then spent 2 days googling what the issue could be, and Discovered that My transmission oil was far below the dipstick level - so much so, that it was not even registering, and initially I had difficulty estimating where the level sat - Only to realise that it was not registering on the stick at all. I filled up the fluid, move the gearstick, did everything as suggested online, and there was still no change in my gearbox or the ability for my car into reverse - I then called out RAC again and the mechanic said that it could be a problem with the bands, that I needed to get it checked out, and that in order to change the drive chain, RAC who serviced the vehicle would not have to touch or go anywhere near my transmission, and therefore there must have been a leak. My response to this was to explain that my car had been sitting in the dri I then called out RAC again and the mechanic said that it could be a problem with the bands, that I needed to get it checked out, and that in order to change the drive chain, RAC who service the vehicle would not have to touch or go anywhere near my transmission, and therefore there must’ve been a leak. My response to this was to explain that my car had been sitting in the carpeted garage for three weeks since the service, had only driven a total of 60 km, and that there was not a single drop of transmission fluid on my carpeted floor where the car had sat. I then took the car to a gearbox service professional as I did not trust RAC to not try and charge me for this issue which they seems to have caused. The service professional said that I will need to replace my entire gearbox at a cost of approximately thousand dollars. I was on Centrelink payments, and I did not know what to do, so my only option was to get it towed again to my friends house while I worked out what I needed to do to fix the car and if anyone could work out a solution that didn’t involve replacing the entire gearbox. And entire year later, I was able to acquire the knowledge that in order for RAC to replace my drive chain, they They would have likely had to drop out my engine whilst on a hoist in order to access the area. My car is a 96 Hyundai coupe, where the cooling system for the Transmission runs via hose through the radiator, therefore in order to drop out the engine, they would have had to disconnect this hose which holds the transmission fluid. The mechanic either did not realise it was running out or forgot to replace the fluid once they put the engine back in. I believe it is quite negligent for them to not even check the fluids after such a service procedure, not to mention the diagnosis that I paid for initially would have noticed if there was low transmission fluid when it first went in . I had to pay a years worth of registration fees, $500 for a secondhand transmission, $500 for installation of transmission, just to drive the car 300 km and realise that there is a huge oil Leak coming from the rocket cover gasket which they had replaced, and also noticing that the drive chain cover was not on properly, and the half moon cells we also leaking. I realise that because I did not drive the car initially There was not enough travel time for these leaks to become apparent - At this point I decided to get the car towed again to Rac service centre in Canningvale, where after checking the car, they called to advise me that they had noticed the faults in the work previously done by RAC Embleton, and we are going to call them and ask if they were willing to pay for the repairs out of goodwill even though you had passed – obviously because they noticed the extremely low kilometres after the last repair the work. They have now had my car for 3 1/2 weeks, and have never bothered to call me with an update, And only advise me of the progress when I called them. They did not provide me with a hire car either. I want to know if anyone has had any issues with the services provided by RAC roadside toe and repair, and if anyone has any idea the process which I will need to go through in order to claim back my expenses caused by RAC is negligence on my initial service, which is backed up by them finding fault in their own work, and something as simple as a rocker cover gasket, is just in support of my reasoning And accusation that they are to blame for my transmission malfunction
