You get what you pay for
Bought a reid harrier to ride to work. First one of the pedals broke, then the chain kept falling off, kept getting flats, then the paint started to flake off around the head stem suggesting a cracked frame. And this is only in about 3 months of commuter type riding. Needless to say I have since invested in a good quality proper fixie. I like how reid is so cheap that it has encouraged some people to make the first step into cycling, but pleeeease, spend the extra $200 on a good bike, you wont regret it.
its cheap and has encouraged some new riders
You get what you pay for, a cheap rubbish toy

New Osprey Elite - great service
After reading all reviews on this site I was concerned about buying from Reid's ability to deliver a bike on time to train properly for the upcoming Ride to Conquer Cancer, so I emailed them with my concerns. They emailed and called me and answered my queries on service and delivery.
I then went in and saw [Personal Name Removed] in Melbourne and left with my new osprey elite complete with fitted seat, trip computer and new wheels very delighted.
I will have no problems recommending them to anybody.
Prompt responses and excellent product knowledge and excellent product value.

Harrier is good.
I purchased a Reid harrier. It was really cheap compared to other brands around Melbourne, which sat well with my limited budget, it was sturdy and the free accessories were a great throw in! So far it is still good and the simplicity makes it easy to service myself and fun to ride. The one complaint I do have is their cheap tires that punctured easily, however the inexpensive cost made up for them.
Simple, Cheap
Cheap tires punctured easily.

The bike is not bad, but the service is
I wasn't expecting the best quality of the bike because I only paid that much. But I really had experienced the Reid Bike Service.
They said freebies coming with the bike were such such such. Then they didn't have water bottle, which was ok i didn't need one and replaced by tool kits. When they brought the bike out, not sure if the bike's been assembled right, the guy said he needed to push the bike back to the mechanic to double check When I was about to pay, the guy told me they ran out light and can only offer me 50% of the reid light(whi...Read more
ch same one on ebay was only 3.99 free postage, half price here is $15) and the guy had no customer service skills at all. Whatever I said, his answer was always"we are unable to do that". He said "you can come back to grab the water bottle and light in 6 months, we are unable to post them" So I asked him a question back "are you able to sell a bike". I have waited for the bike from the warehouse (maybe the warehouse) for about 40-50mins. I understand they might have to assemble one, but for the long waiting time, nothing in stock, was really bad. I have asked the guy who the manager was. Then I talked to the manager, and said I really need a light to ride at night time. Then he came out with some simple lights, which were OK for me at least Police wouldn't fine me. When I came back home, I unloaded my bike from my car, the front break line dropped. I had to take out the tool kits, thank god, they ran out the bottle otherwise I wouldn't have the tool kits to fix this. That was the Reid Bike Bad Experience.Similar opinion? Won a bike!
I was lucky enough to win a Reid bike when I wandered into the city store and entered a prize draw! When I came to test out the different bikes, the staff were really helpful and polite - not intimidating and sneering as I have experienced in some bike shops. The man who assisted me, [name removed], really took the effort to help me find the right bike. I settled on a 2013 Reid Condor Road Bike, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. The bike is wonderfully light, and I zip along to work and uni with no problems. I was also impressed by the fact that I got a lot of useful accessories free with my bike - lights, a bottle, and a pump, as well as 12 months of free servicing. Wonderful!

t and hope it never happens to anyone else. Reid have followed up with me and have surprised me with how much they do care to meet my needs. I am very happy with that service overall and it has been worth the wait for my new commuter. The Osprey is a nice neat ride. I ride bike path, a bit of gravel, cobblestone and small amount of road to work each day (about 38kms in total). I ride it with MTB spd pedals. I was riding an old Giant Sedona Street with fat wheels. I purchased the Osprey as my new commuter. I looked at some Giant alternatives, but couldn't say I was impressed with Giant's value for money compared with Reid's Osprey. The Osprey road set up with flat bar, the skinny wheels and the lighter frame make a nice ride. It is relatively light and agile and turns corners neatly. The gearing and brakes feel tight. I recommend this bike as an inexpensive road bike for entry level road riders or new weekend triathletes (if you want to swap the flat bar over). This bike has all that a beginner roadie / mid range commuter / new triathlete needs. For under $500 I am impressed. Thanks Reid for fixing the issue and making me a happy customer. Poor bike setup
I bought a Reid Gryphon, and at $200 I can't complain about price. I wanted a cheap commuter bike as I have a road bike and when chatting to the salesman about sizes, features etc it became evident that he knew nothing about bikes and could not help at all. Another thing that I found peculiar was the free water bottle and cage. With no screw holes in the frame they are quite useless. When I got home I had to adjust the stem as the handlebars were about 10 degrees off centre. I got a puncture within the first hour of riding. When I went to chang...Read more
e it I found the two strips of rim tape to be folded all over each other, and the tube itself was folded over by about 6cm in order to fit it to the size of the rim which was the most ridiculous display of bike mechanics I have ever seen. I now have a flat in the back tyre so will be taking both back to Reid to get changed. I didn't expect a high quality bike at all for $200, but on a single speed road bike there are very few mistakes to be made, and Reid made almost all of them. Cheap Bad installation, inexperienced staff, poor quality1 comment
David F.Reid Cycles
Hi James. The guys will check this out for you. RE the larger tube - if you unroll a completely flat tube it has a larger circumference than the rim. It is when you add air that it takes shape.

Reid Cycles Aquila Road Bike
I purchased the Reid Aquila Road Bar in January this year, I have started training for triathlons and wanted to upgrade my Condor to something a little lighter and faster. It’s a really comfortable, smooth and quick ride. I have received some very surprised comments from others in my group who were expecting it to be substandard compared to their bikes ($3,000 +) after they had a test ride of it. Other than having 1 puncture it has been perfectly suited to my needs (100km + per week) and I am really happy with my new upgrade. Don’t let the neg...Read more

Worst bicycle I've owned in years!
I decided to purchase a vintage ladies 6 speed bicycle after hearing how inexpensive it was and having a look myself I was interested... Entering the shop located opposite Victoria market I waited quite a while to get served which wasn't a problem as I could see they were busy. I pre-ordered my bicycle around the 8th of December and was told it would be ready just after the new year. The new year came and I tried to contact them several times but got no response. I went back to the shop as calls still weren't going through and was told it would...Read more
be ready in 2 weeks but that they also we're unable to get the colour I previously ordered which meant I had to change; which they didn't seem to bother to call to inform me earlier. After changing the colour of my bicycle, it would then be ready by early February. I received my bike but then had to wait a further 3 weeks for the basket and basket frame. When it came to the service, I watched them ignore phone calls; which is probably why they never answered my calls either. My bicycle so far has replaced tubes, tires, bolts and screws not to mention; the bicycle and basket frame are out of shape. Used occasionally, this just shows how horrible the service and products are.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Either Dodgey Service or Shoddy Tyres
I bought my Reid road bike 6 months ago and was really excited to commute to and from work on it. First day of riding to work, I had a punctured tyre. Bad luck! Oh well. Got to fixed at a local shop and went well from then on. Two months in I decide to get a service (free for a year, which I thought was awesome). Happy with the bike
I bought one of their road bikes a month ago now and consider it an excellent bike. I found the store staff to be friendly (albeit run off their feet) and very helpful. The young guy who served me was a bit green on the subject but his manager was very impressive. I was well taken care of on the day. I would happily recommend Reid to anyone.

Surprisingly good after the reviews here!
I am not really well-versed with bikes and the sort but needed something to commute to work, get fit bla bla bla. After a friend recommended me I ordered a road bike in January. I was told it was on backorder which wasn't what I wanted to hear to be honest but I really didn't have the money to pay top $ for something I could get at a fraction of the price with these guys. appy and bubbly to me. I had to call to check up on the order before finding out that the stock was now in, not how I wanted it to pan out though, no biggie. When I was at the shop I chose a busy Saturday and it took a 5 minute wait to get service. I work in retail myself and I know how frustrating it can be, pressures of the job! Fine. The bike itself is really good (at least for the price I've paid, same thing I said for a $199 32" TV I own). I have not had any issues with it and it does the job for me. I use it to go to work Mon - Fri doing a 20 minute ride roughly. Great deal on the freebies that came with it, I got more than I paid for. Pump can be a bit rigid when in use but it was free I can't complain. That's enough for me. I guess people here forget that these bikes are probably the cheapest around so they won't necessarily compete with the who's who of bike brands but they do the job. There are things that they can surely improve on but I can't say I didn't get the help i sought every step of the way. If they take these reviews on board, they will do well. Comes well recommended and good luck Good prices, freebies with bike, reliable product Low stock in store, delaySimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

and to call the next week. Called the following tuesday (january 29th) to be told that there was actually no bikes in the colour i had ordered (watermelon) and they didn't know when they would be arriving!!! This was the first time i got someone helpful, she told me the other people probably hadn't bothered to check the computer. She was very nice and apologetically offered me another colour. I was very frustrated at this point and asked my partner to call for me. He obviously was taken more seriously and told that they had the colour at another store and we could pick it up the next week. I guess a guy angry on the phone has more effect as they offered to throw in the basket for free. Finally received it on wednesday the 6th of february, however not with the basket. Nearly 4 weeks after i put the deposit down. Got a text message yesterday telling me the basket was in. (nearly 6 weeks later). I am really disappointed with this service. There is no excuse for it. If it is going to be that long of a wait it is fine if you are told from the start. Be honest with waiting times and call customers when you say you are going to and you wont have so many angry and disappointed reviews on this site. It is obviously a reoccurring problem that needs some serious attention. The bike is a nice looking bike however the gears do skip a bit and i also see this is a common problem. I have ordered REID Aquila flat bar on 12th Jan 13 with promised delivery in 3 weeks. I called them to follow up on delivery after 4 weeks as web site was saying product in stock. I got response that they are in containers so some one will call next week. No body called !! I called this week again and I was promised it will be assembled in 2 days and you will get a call. Now I am trying to call phone just rings and no body is responding. No matter what time you call same thing happens. So after waiting for almost 5 weeks I still don't know when I will get my bike. The worst customer service
Last Saturday (2 Feb 2013) my partner bought me a ladies bicycle in lavender with a basket to be put on the back for a late Christmas present, paid in full. The staff member mentioned there was one out the back that would be put together the next week for us to pick up today on Saturday (9 Feb 2013).

nally got the attention of a young boy who went to look for my bike, only to tell me that no bike with my name or description was there. It took another 30 mins for him to keep searching with another boy who then told me that they most likely sold it to another person (regardless of the fact it had already been paid for in full, with my details attached) once it was put together during the week, in the hope there was another one to put together before I arrived today. He explained there actually isn't any more in stock and that I would need to wait for the next shipment which he didn't know when would arrive. I was nice to the boy as I know it wasn't his fault, but this is unacceptable. I then had the man who originally sold us the bike come forward and apologise, asking me to take a different bike. I declined and asked for a refund in which he was hesitant but eventually gave in. When processing the refund, the Store Manager came over to open the safe to give me the cash as their card machine was freezing, and instead of being apologetic he put on a sarcastic tone, handed me the cash and said "well you're going to have a great day aren't you" I felt so taken for a "ride" literally and couldn't believe the attitude when they were clearly in the wrong.1 comment

My girlfriend bought 6sp ladies vintage bike (minty green-cool!) from the Melbourne store before Christmas but sadly it has been a procession of bad service since. Still waiting on the basket (5wks & counting-strange how a 'strike at the docks' happened last year at the same busy time), skipping gears ('serviced' twice in 4 days but couldn't fix it - seems using a brake cable isn't the best plan for gears-thanks to the professionals at BikeForce Docklands for finally fixing that), 'fixed' a puncture for $20 that lasted less than 2kms before pun...Read more

Very happy with my purchase
I bought a Reid Osprey a little over 12 months ago and have since put about about 1200-1300 k's mainly riding to work, bike has performed solidly, and is still solid as a rock. I was a little apprehensive about buying one because the price seemed to good to be true, I tried to find reviews about it but the comments were mainly cynical ones by the kind of people who can't stand the thought that a bike that cost a fraction of theirs can possibly function properly,
My advice to people who are considering an Osprey, You won't be dissapointed!. ...Read more
In my opinion the bike has already paid for itself, and if I get more into social riding I may upgrade to the Falco, I'll definitely give Reid my business in the future. Best value for money, bonus pump works really good Tyres were nice and grippy but back tyre wore out at 1200 km, front deraileur gave me some grief in the beginning as it has a very narrow band of adjustability, and either rubbed against the deraileur arm or wouldn't change up to the larger crankSimilar opinion? Excellent supplier, excellent customer service, can't argue with the price
Reid Cycles have great bikes at price that is noticeably and substantially different from every other supplier. Comparing my Reid Osprey with carbon forks at less than $500 suppliers of other brands would charge $800 for a similar set of components, but in some cases other suppliers would have low end components in comparison, such as Shimano Sora. The only reason everyone doesn't buy Reid is because they don't know about them. Just check out your purchase and compare the specs to the appropriate Reid model.
