Very poor service, good value otherwise
I was stuffed around for over 3 months by staff whose only understanding of supply logistics was "ummm, maybe a week or two".
I had to pay extra for a different model as I gave up on waiting and didn't receive all of the included extras despite returning to the store multiple times.
The bike appeared to be set up by a monkey (derailleurs would throw the chain, shifters weren't straight, brakes hit the tyres and some).
Despite all of this, I would still buy from them as they are CHEAP.
If you want to pay extra and get good service, g...Read more

Excellent service
Just visited on Easter Monday. The shop was busy but the service was good. Having read comments below I was pleasantly surprised. They could have had more staff on given there was a sale, but otherwise excellent, we took the bike away with us, no need for assembly at home

Bought four bikes
I bought two bikes at xmas from Melbourne store after organising over the phone from Adelaide. On arrival in Melbourne attended the store and the order wasn't complete and the falco advanced I had wanted was sold to another buyer. However the staff then upgraded to the falco elite for no extra charge. My son got his x129 off road mountain bike which was excellent. The extra gift packs weren't ready but eventually this was sorted but had to come back a few days later. I then bought 2 sport mountain bikes for my bnb as guest to hire, which were d...Read more
elivered to Adelaide. However the delivery was flawed as you had to be there for delivery even though I left instructions of where bikes could be safely left and this was initially accepted as fine to do. Overall, a few issues but the product itself was fine. My guests have all reported the bikes are really good to ride! I will be back to replace my hire bikes at the 12 month mark. Hurry Reid cycles and come to Adelaide!!! Bikes are value for money, staff helpful To much disjointed comms, needs more attention here to reduce issues3 comments
The bikes are still working well and many guests comment they are really nice to ride. My falco elite is great and flys along. Overall, value for money and i believe quality exceeds the price paid; as per my experience.

My first falco was stolen after a month, then i went back to reidcycles to brought the same falco sport i used to had. It was fantastic for the first 2 months and it started to give me nightmares as the chain keep falling off n it broke the hanger. Well, i went back to reids with the broken parts and they told me that they doesn't stock any part (hanger) for the bike and the part will only arrive after 2 weeks from oversea. (Is just a common part, i cant understand why yiu guys doesn't stock any) Then i went to nearby bicycle shop to get the sa...Read more
me hanger by myself and get them to fix it. After they fix up the new hanger, my bike have even more problems (gear doesn't shift properly, chain fell off regularly, etc). And i just leave it at home and plan to visit them again when i'm back from my holiday. Last week when i send in my bike on 24feb, they just can't fix it and saying that i'm using cheap lubricants that cause the defects. cript grease not intended for use on bicycle parts. Reid are always very fair in resolving warranty claims but we cannot be held responsible for chain failure in this case as it is clearly user error that has caused it. Feed back for reid cycles
I recently purchased three bikes, two ladies vintage and the latest mans osprey bike, the staff in the shop were excellent with me, I had been to several other bike shops before Reid cycles but could not get what I was looking for, this shop catered for every one and if they did not have what you wanted they would bend over backwards to get you sorted out, it gave me value for my $.

Its not a boutique store but the bikes are so great for the money. Riding every day on my Aquila roadie and can't fault it. Service was good too... But very busy on Saturdays. The guys and girls who served me were friendly and professional. No complaints from me. Would recommend.

Purchased a hybrid city, with 12 mth servicing, was told to just call 24hrs before bringing it in to be serviced. Amazing service and price
Went into Melbourne shop to buy a fixie because 2 of my flat mates have them and was super impressed with the service by Michael He sorted me out a Harrier and swapped over the tyres and wheels within half an hour. Thought I would have to wait. Just went for a ride and am wrapped! Rides better than anything else I have ridden under $1000 and hot it with a helmet for $360! Bargain of the year. Don't understand the bad reviews?!

To-A-Price Bikes
In 2012 I bought a Condor. Reid bikes at the Melbourne CBD store are not worth your time/money. Yes, it is true, they are cheap. However, considering the inferior quality of their parts this is not a good justification for shopping there. They mass import Shimano parts which are absolute bottom of the line grey import stock, which just happen to have Shimano stamped on them. They will last for about 1 year, and they start breaking wholesale after that- by this point, the customer just doesn't bother going back to the store for repeated services...Read more
since warranty has run out and it gets expensive. My spokes broke, derailleur was breaking every month, wheels needed truing, hell- my 'genuine' shimano chain even snapped! How can a chain snap? Incredible. The bikes certainly look good, and the upper range ones probably have better specs but they still skimp on things to drive the price down (no name wheels, brakes etc, incomplete drive train). With the power of hindsight, I would have saved my $300 and got a brand name bike. PS: The gift set they give you is worth about $20, not $100. Inexpensive. Bad parts, bad service- I went to the store for repairs often and they made me wait 20 mins to deal with customers paying more, even though i got there before them.1 comment

Expected worse from all of the reviews
I went into Melbourne store on Monday Dec 23 to get a MTB for myself and was surprised at how quickly I was served and then the bike was ready to take away within 25 minutes. I arrived shortly after opening time and were at least 15 customers at this time. Big letdown was that the website offered $100 free accessories with the bike and this was not mentioned at time of buying the bike. I saw it on the website that afternoon. Now on Dec 29, new pricing discounts are on the site and the $100 offer is gone. I have emailed the store twice as is a 3...Read more

For the last few months I have been putting money aside each week specifically to buy a new bike from Reid Cycles in Melbourne. I was so excited the day I realised I had reached my goal so I got straight on a tram and walked into the store armed with lots of cash and the intent of walking out with a brand new bike and plenty of accessories. Sales staff completely ignored me for a good 10 minutes until one of them asked me to move out of his way. Another 10 minutes went by of me walking cluelessly around the store. f I needed help and when I asked him a (reasonable) question about he looked as though I just asked what colour the sky was and replied with an attitude of 'like, duh, how could you not know that?'. Sorry I am not a bicycle expert like you and I have no idea what all of these terms mean. Fine. One more quick lap of the room mentally purchasing all of the lovely things I would have like to, and I left. I spent a good imaginary $800 in there. Even though I desperately wanted to buy a bike, I just couldn't give you the satisfaction of making a sale when it was so undeserved. I'm not writing this to get my anger out or to be nasty, I just genuinely wanted you to know that you are missing out on sales because your staff are so absent. I can see from other reviews that I am not the only one to have this experience. It would make a world of difference if you hired people who simply smiled and said 'Hello!' as a customer walked in, maybe even had a chat (gasp) or, God forbid, made a joke, rather than those unapproachable guys who look like they just want to be anywhere else but at work. Very happy with my purchase!!
I decided to get fit after a few years of good living. I went into the reid cycles Melbourne store and spoke to a really nice and helpful guy. Not knowing much about bikes he took the time to explain the features and benefits of each bike. I went with the Falco sport road bike. After I purchased the bike I compared it to other similar bikes online, I was chuffed when i saw comparable bikes were a lot more expensive. I've done about 600kms so far and the bike has been great. I took the bike back for its first service and was happy when I was told it was for free :)
I work in hospitality so I know good service when I see it and I can highly recommend Reid Cycles!!!

Do you offer full assembly of a bike if I were to purchase one in person from a physical store? I am pretty sure I can follow your pdf guide but the gear and brake installation part just unnerves me and I'd rather have someone pro do it for me. If yes does this post-purchase service come with extra fee?
