has anyone purchased a city2 hybrid lately? Are you happy with it?

Personally I wouldn't buy it. Bad design what's the point of cheap suspension when your not going off road just shows you down heaps. For commuting your better off with a road bike flat bad or even a fixie.

We think so!

While a hybrid suspension fork isn't designed to do the same things as a dedicated off road bike it will help to dampen some of the impacts from the road such as rough surfaces.

V-Brakes and reliable 3x8 Shimano gearing round out the package. Rear rack ready it will serve you well. Otherwise you can take a look at our Urban range that use a rigid alloy fork. As John said above, there are lots of alternatives to commute on, you can see our full range here:

Hi, I need help looking for a bike for recreation and to occasionally commute from A to B; mainly just the local shopping centres if I'm not lazy.
I live in Bulleen area so there's a few hilly paths, parks, sometimes branches and rocks scattered on the pathways. Would the Reid Vintage Ladies be suffice for me? Or do i need to invest in a Hybrid instead? If so, which one would you recommend? I'm still studying so my budget is only $300 including accesories, helmet, lubing oil etc if that's possible?

Thanks in advance =)

HI Jazz, I do not work for Reid Cycles, just another customer. I think it would be best to speak to someone at Reid cycles re your choice.
Cheers,

Hi, Jazz!

The Reid Vintage Ladies bike would be a decent choice for a super cute commuter as it's ready to go with mudguards, rack, etc. However, a hybrid would probably make it easier to tackle the mixed terrain and hills.

The Reid Cycles City 1 is a great alternative as it has a wider range of gearing, full length mudguards, rear rack and all the other goodies you need to get commuting in comfort: http://www.reidcycles.com.au/bicycles/hybrid-bikes/hybrid-city-1-commuter-bike.html The slightly chunkier tyres and triple chainrings will get you over hills, bumps and gravels will more ease.

It's currently on special as well, so you'll be able to get a helmet and the other bits and pieces on you budget or very close to it!

Best bet is to pop into one of our stores: or give us a buzz on (03) 9314 9091 to discuss further.

Happy riding!

Reid might tell you to buy but honestly $300 won't buy you a decent bike. Turn your eye to second hand bikes on eBay gumtree you'll be much more satisfied. Test rode a reid city 1 and my 20 yr old mountain bike giant beats it. Just my 2c

Hi mnm123. The Condor is a great bike for $259. Full product spec can be found on the site http://www.reidcycles.com.au/bicycles/road-bikes/2012-reid-condor-road-bike.html#.UO4opnf5tMc

All bikes now come with a lifetime frame and fork warranty plus the usual 12 months free servicing and $100 freebies pack.

For the price you pay it should last you a year max. If you commute/ride more than 8km I would get a road bike with drop bars. At least shimano 105.
