Rent for more
Hired a small car in November 2016 for a week.
Bond was not paid back. Only after I reminded them via facebook.
Then they returned the bond but kept 22 $. Only after enquierie they
told me it was for cleaning. But the car was clean when I returned it.
No final invoice was given. Sending them emails with the compaint were
not answered. I would say they should be called: Rent for more.
They just do what they want and are totally ignorant.

Great Experience
Rented a Nissan Pulsar for 3 weeks and found them to be the cheapest to rent and cheapest in insurance. They greeted me with a smile and a great personality even when i was late picking up the car due to me putting in the wrong time. They were very professional and kind. The petrol on this car was amazing and i got heaps of mileage for its tank. Taking the full insurance cover should be a must while driving the roads in Tasmania the chances you will hit a wildlife animal is very high due to how many road kills i could see while driving. All was great!
You always hear the bad vehicle rental experience, but too often people overlook writing a good review. I was only able to find one large chain car company that would let us take a rental to Bruny Island (with extra high insurance and excess in the $9000 figure). The Bruny Island ph app listed Rent for Less as a company that would. The name frightened me a bit and I was hopeful that the car experience would be as good as the email and phone contact we had with the company prior to collecting our car at the airport. The price and insurance price...Read more
was fair related to other car rentals with other companies I had used. Their instructions on where to locate the car at the airport were accurate and easy to follow. It was our first experience at collecting a rental car after hours and dropping it off without a company rep being present at hand over. Mindful, we photographed every microscopic scratch or chip (despite the company assuring me by phone that these were considered normal wear and tear). It was hard to find many as the car was in fact in really good condition. The fuel was full. We also photographed the car closely when we returned it and emailed these photos, again mindful that we were in effect responsible for this car until they collected it from the airport. The car ran well and we treated it as if it were our own (we look after our own well). We made sure the car was reasonably clean of excessive dirt, returning it in a similar condition to how we started. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company. Nice to use a local company rather than a chain. Only thing, I would have liked a rubber foot mat for the front passenger’s side and maybe a plastic bag to put rubbish in - but how trivial!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Absolute WORST customer service, and almost $2,000 lost to this company!
By far the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. When we signed the contract, we were told that our credit card would not be charged without our notice. When we notified the company of damage that had incurred on the car during our rental period, they told us that they would call us the next day to discuss quotes. Immediately after the phone call, they charged the credit card $1,500 without even telling us when we had them on the phone! It has now been a month since we have returned the car, and each time we call about the status of th...Read more
e repair, we are told that either "the person who deals with it is not in the office" or that they will have the information later in the day or the next day. We have been told this for 4 weeks now. We were told last week that we will definitely receive an answer by Friday. It is now Wednesday and we still do not have an answer. When I questioned what was going on, the man on the phone hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak to his supervisor and he hung up again! By far the WORST service I have ever experienced. Do not use this company!

On 31 of december on the busy time of the year i decided to go to hobart. And what happened next is unbelievable. I can't find a single place where i can rent the car. I end up spending over 2 hours running around in city of hobart, until i came across those fellows. The best service. The best price. And what most important is that you get that feeling of satisfaction after running around the city trying to.Book any.Bomb and there is absolutely nothing. It can only compare to the feeling when you desperate looking for toilet and there is nothing, and when you finally get it, yes that satisfaction. Thank you guys. You rock!!!!!!

Good to deal with, excellent price and service, would go with them again.
Easy to deal via internet booking, paid $100 deposit and balance upon pick up. Prompt pick up after phoning them from Launceston airport, clean car, had 3/8 petrol, so we returned it with same amount, took pics of some markings in the vehicle, they had already marked them off on the condition report anyway, $500 bond was back in our account 9 days after we returned the vehicle (they do state they will recredit in 7 days but the manager apologised he had been away for one day when I phoned to check, hence the slight delay. Friendly and efficient to deal with, and we liked the price, would use again.

Car Rental Nightmare
Last few weeks, I rented a car from this company and it turn out to be my worst car rental nightmare ever. After getting convinced that I could travel around tasmania with 200km per day. I ended up getting the extra mileage charge for ~$80. Not only that, after 2 days returned my car, the owner suddenly said I damaged their car and charged me $500. Not only I am accident free during my rental, furthermore I have paid their insurance that said reduced my max damage liability to $100 too. Even worse, they dint return back my $100 bond either?! So totally i spent $920 for 3 days car rental!! Someone who knows law please help me!!
great cheater, u will like to talk and make friend with them for sure
over charged me so much with no solid proof.

Terrible customer service!
Was left stranded at the airport at 9pm at night due to a miscommunication between the Rent for less Hobart office and their Airport Office staff which resulted in my booking being cancelled. Was told a person would be waiting with a key when I got off the plane only to find the office closed up for the night! I called the help number and spoke to an extremely rude employee, [Personal Name Removed], who blamed me for the cancellation and said his staff weren't waiting around at night for a cancelled booking (of which I never cancelled!!). Seemingly good. Worst experience! You've been warned.
So I'm pretty placid and not one to usually complain. It takes a lot to hack me off, but Rent-For-Less (in Hobart) has succeeded.
Firstly, the insurance is rather bogus and the terms and conditions on back are pretty wishy washy. Some legal jargon is pretty vague/confusing (for me anyway), so when we took out the full top of the range deal, we asked several times if we would be covered for damage. We were told yes. Turns out however that you're only covered if someone hits you. Any freakish often unavoidable accidents such as hitting wildli...Read more
fe (which in Tasmania isn't difficult), having a trolley roll into your car or something unpredictable like hail or a stone dint from driving is not included. And to be honest, something like that is more likely to happen to you. It's also more likely to be less damaging than a car accident. Not only do you then get charged, but they'll also be extremely hostile towards you. In our circumstance, we endured some crazy weather which ended up causing a tiny dint. As instructed, we reported straight away and tried to do the right thing. We were perfectly nice to the staff on at the time, but were treated like rubbish. Quote (read aloud in your nastiest voice) "Well we like to get cars back in one piece so whatever". I don't even remember half of the things this woman said, but none of it was nice or helpful. In fact she was so rude and made me feel so horrible she brought me to tears. We had not been careless or negligent. In fact we'd been overly careful if anything. But this surly woman made us feel like reckless crims. They are also really conniving! We requested two vehicles exactly the same. Same deal, same insurance, same everything. We were given two forms, with one strategically on top of the other. As they were both supposed to be exactly the same and they looked they same, we only read one in full. They had given us one car with unlimited kms and changed the second to have a limit. Without telling us. I guess I should have read both in full, but when you've requested two things exactly the same, they should be exactly the same or you should be notified. To make matters worse, they then tried to sneakily charge us on both cars for excess kms. They were not happy when I busted them, but at least it was one small victory for us. If you do find yourself with these people, pray to god you don't have an unfortunate encounter with wildlife etc. Or with captain sunshine at reception, I don't know what's worse.Similar opinion? Hired a hyundai i30 in Tassie, delivered to my hotel door by friendly guy, vehicle spottless condition and had no trouble with it. Drove nearly all west coast and the i30 performed fantastic for a small car. When finshed with car we left it at the airport in Launceston, when we arrived home I emailed the firm to thank them for prompt delivery, condition of car and helpful service

Consistently Good.
I often travel to Melbourne on business and as a small business owner I am conscious of my expenses. These guys always look after me and are totally up front about their fees and charges. I am happy with their service every time i use them and not once in 4 years have i been let down by them. Even when I damaged a car they sorted it out fairly without excessive excess fess. They went out of their way to send me a quote for repairs and as I am a regular customer, they did not charge me any admin time fees. As a small business owner who knows time is precious, I find this outstanding and incredibly fair of them. Highly recommended.
Always reliable and outstanding service. Very fair when things go wrong.

Avoid Rentforless
I returned a car to Rentforless in Melbourne. I had hired it for several weeks, so I spent most of the evening before returning it giving it a clean. I then filled it up at the nearest station to their offices in Melbourne. I subsequently got charged a refuelling fee and a cleaning fee!!! My subsequent emails were replied to in a confrontational manner. My advice is to avoid them.

Stay well away. It's fine if all goes well, but if you have a problem then this company is not the company you want to be dealing with.
The price looks like cheap on the web site. When you upgrade to 500km per day or unlimited, add insurance, and be charged for 11% of airport service fee it costs you more comparing to other companies. You think saving money but at the end you spend more money.

Booked a car 2.5 months before trip. Found better pricing 2 weeks before the trip. email them and asked them to reduce the rates or match the offer. refused to do so and adviced me to cancel my original booking and make a new booking to enjoy the new reduced rates, but the $100 deposit paid on the first booking will not be refunded. Bad Experience
At the hobart airport firstly the rented us a car fro AUD 250.00 per day which was otherwise available for AUD 119.00 per day. When asked the staff at the hobart airport branch was very very rude and said nothing could be done as we had entered into a contract with them so legally nothing could bedone. The owner of the franchise at Hobart Airport was rude and racist (he wanted himself not to be addressed by his name). After we called there helpline and they also refused to help we got a call that they can cancel our contract but still we had to pay AUD 200.00 for the cancellation. Very very bad experience
Only the call from head office for cancellation of contract

Questions & Answers
How can be protect ourselves if this rental company, Rent For Less, deliberately creates some problems and charge us for extra? It is very easy to make it happen, as the rental car you returned can never be 100% the same as the one yesterday. Tiny little thing can be easily identified.
The company, Rent For Less understands that the legal process could be time consuming and costly, which may not be worth for the customers to go through.

I don't know. I was happy with there services
The best way we can protect ourselves is to rent from a different company! I'm travelling to Melbourne in September, staying for six months. I do this every second year. I'll not rent from Rent 4 Less again, until I see they have changed their ways, that customer satisfaction has increased, and that they have reimbursed those customers they have screwed over the years!
Avoid them, they are the worst car rental company I have ever used!

Planning trip to tasmania end of March 2014 for 2 weeks (pick up devonport; drop off hobart). Have read some postings and I'm frankly somewhat alarmed by bad experiences reported. Would like specific advice from other than persons with vested interests on the following: whether there are genuine locally-owned car rental companies of good repute; whether any company has fairer t's and c's by which I also mean an intelligible contract; which company/ies allow use on Bruny Island; whether any company/ies are definitely to be avoided and why? My preference in the past for rentals has been Ace in Aus/NZ for clarity and fairness of conditions and price and Sixt in Europe for same reasons. But can't find them in Tas. With thanks Franz

I hired from Rent For Less in Tasmania and can't say a bad word about them, vehicle (Hyundai i30) was delivered to our hotel by a friendly guy, vehicle was full of fuel and spotlessly clean inside and out. The price was, I thought, very reasonable and the car was a pleasure to drive. We dropped it off at the airport and were told to put keys in a certain spot and they would pick it up later. I emailed the company once we were home in Perth and thanked them for great service, I will be using them on our next trip to Tassie.
Don't risk it Franz, you can see from the reviews what this outfit is like. Avoid them.
Try to avoid them Franz. I have used the service both in Hobart and Melbourne. The Hobart office was not professional and the Melbourne office is really terrible. They are professional to create some problems to charge you extra.
They seem to offer cheap car rental at the beginning, but there are a lot of hidden cost and more importantly, risk!
