This came came installed on new two storey townhouse in Melbourne. It’s worked well for 7 years but it froze then exploded last week with subzero temps overnight, leaking water everywhere! I’ve had to divert it to instantaneous gas hot water (no tank) with an emergency roofing plumber. Unfortunately, there is limited property access so I’d need an expensive crane to remove/replace because it weighs >100kg. Therefore, broken system will be staying on my roof indefinitely. Most (if not all) of these Rinnai 20 solar systems have broken for my neighbours. If you live in Melbourne, do your research into frost proof systems & how to replace and repair. Needing to pay a roofing plumber to inspect any issues is an added expense.

Purchased a townhouse in a huge development in St Albans which settled in 2021, the property was tenanted from day 1. A Rinnai Solar Hot Water system was installed and it has been an absolute nightmare ever since. There had been problems since April 2021 and after 7 service calls and 10 months later the problem still exists. After numerous calls to the plumber, the builder and Rinnai and the initial finger pointing exercise, the problem was narrowed down to the Rinnai product. Contacting Rinnai was just as frustrating as the non- working hot wa...
Read moreter system, with the call center system placing you on hold and advising that you would be the next in line, only to be dropped back to caller number 4. Blame it on staff shortage and Covid-19 why don't you. Rinnai initially blamed the roughing in of the construction and after several inspections by the contractor plumber and Rinnai technicians, it was determined that the product was probably faulty. Subsequently visits by Rinnai technicians resulted in tank replacement and some circuitry and pipes. It is now Feb 2022 and the 7th time the tenant had to report that the HWS does not work and threatening legal action. You would think that Rinnai would resolve this by replacing the product and save themselves the continuous visits to the premises to "fix" the problem by their top technicians and saving costs and more importantly their reputation. So buyer beware, this particular Rinnai product sucks and relying on their after sales service is the ultimate test of your endurance and patience!Purchased in .

We had Rinnai solar 20 installed in the new home with sun master system. The trouble is if one is having a shower and someone opens another hot water tap or an outlet in side the house, the one in the shower gets cold water.
I spoke to Rinnai and was told it should not happen and to get the plumber call them. The Plumber came roamed around the house opening and shutting taps and spoke to Rinnai and left. The result is the same. No change. I have used Rinnai hot water units in Japan and they were world class. In my old house we had another bran...

Before anyone purchase Rinnai Products do a thorough research. I personally do not promote them. My experience of the product is so bitter, it has made our lives really miserable and frustrating.
