Hi, I had painting done in 2017. It is now evident that this was not done correctly. It appears that the franchise in Darwin has closed. How do we get our warranty and the work corrected?

I am concerned as I live in a hilly windy marine area. The contracted individual has set up but left without doing any work because it’s too windy and he is concerned about grey overspray onto my neighbours white property. He will try again on Monday. We rarely have a calm unwindy day here ...I am terrified now of the bill I am going to get from my neighbour if there is thick dark grey paint on their newly renovated decking, white roof and pale cladding. I thought with airless sprayers there’s less overspray - today we got informed with gusts like there are around here there could be spray on the houses opposite across the road. Who has is legally responsible for getting my neighbours house repainted if this is fouled up? I am going out today to pressure clean my entire balcony and balustrade - from the pressure clean of roof ... is my whole garden going to be grey? My parents got their roof resprayed with another company and they were in and out in 3 days with no overspray. They too live on a hill with close neighbours.

firstly youmentioned the bill, as your quote should have stated, there should be no need for alarm. If the roofer has gone but has set up, this should indicate they well retur. The scaffhold was set up a day before he arived for me. Then it was taken down the day after. I was not pressent when he sprayed the day later, and didn't see any evedance of overspry on the ute or other surfaces. I will say if you have any concerns, please don t hesitate to call your contracter. I hope this helps. I am very happy with the job they did for me. Kind regard Steve

i think the contractor has done the right thing by avoiding potential damage, he has a duty of care, however once he decides it is appropriate to continue with the job than he also takes on that responsibility to ensure it is prudent to do so, he will also have public liability insurance policy so should there be any damage caused as a result of him doing his work the cost of repairs is borne by that policy. you are also correct in that airless spray guns have a tendancy to cause much less over spray hope this is of some comfort to you

Dear (?) 2018 Gosford contactsSarah/Kesari,
This is my 3rd attempt to contact the company having used the contact numbers of the local people who were the contacts last year. To date I have received no follow up contact in the 2 weeks since my May 2022 contact.
I ask that you refer this onto your site manager please for immediate action.
You would be aware of the work completed at my property, Kanwal 2259, NSW,
There are now 2 ceilings (stairwell top level & family room lower level) where there is obvious water damage resulting from a leak in the work resulting from work done on the roof in 2018.
You would understand that this is very distressing for us.
I assure you this ceiling damage has ONLY happened since the work was done by Roof Seal (Gosford team)late last year.
Please respond to my concern with an assurance of action to remedy this obvious concern.
I would expect that any remedial repairs would be at the expense of your company as the work is still under warranty.
I await your follow up contact.
Regards,
Gary Crowther

Who is the managing director of Roof Seal? We have used Roof Seal for our roof restoration and have found communication and service to be extremely poor. The project has been going on for 4 months now with no end date in sight. Can I please have contact details for the Managing Director so that I can contact them directly with my concerns. Very poor look for what we were promised was a professional company.

I've just signed on to have our roof restored. I wasn't aware though that this is a franchise business. So far, only read one very negative review. How do I know I'm not getting THAT particular franchisee?

Hello Sunn_33
We are from the Sunshine Coast and were very unhappy with the local franchisee, whose company did a very very poor job on our roof and didn't return to fix it. My suggestion would be to look around your area, find houses that have been completed by Roof Seal and knock on the door. In saying that from the road ours looked fine also, it wasn't until we got on the roof and had a closer look. You only have 5 days though from when you signed, there are plenty of other roof restoration companies or qualified painters that would do a good job. Just do your homework and don't accept the first quote.
Don't take any notice of the positive feedback ie 5 out of 5, the wording in both the review and response are very generic and only rarely does head office ask for a job no, to pass the compliments on. Ummmmm???

Why can't women get a quote without their husbands being present? What if they are single?Refusing someone because they are an unmarried female is discrimination.

Hi Mary,

That is not true and not our practice at all. We have requested more information regarding this issue from customer that expressed this concern on product review, as we would like to investigate this further. Still waiting on that. We do not discriminate in any way and we are proud to be equal opportunity employer and we treat our customers the same way. However if you would like to discuss this further please feel free to call us on 08 8293 3956.

I have heard this same issue mentioned in regards to this company - and looking at the other reviews, there have clearly been other instances of this as well! This is unbelievably disgusting, and clearly not an isolated issue ... I hope some serious investigation is being undertaken. Definitely taking my business elsewhere!!

Totally bizarre requirement that can not be explained adequately. Guy came to quote as organised by my partner (male). I (female) was home with the baby getting ready to go out. The guy said I wasn't allowed to leave! Apparently we both had to be there for the quote (sales pitch)! A) How does roof seal purport to know how people make decisions about their home and finances? B) How did this guy know I wasn't the babysitter/cleaner/neighbour/friend...? I completely trust my partner to take a quote in my absence. We weren't informed that I would need to be here and there was no reason that I did. I just sat there with a grumpy baby on my lap seething that this company thinks they can dictate their customers' lives. At least this experience shows they are not discriminating against women without husbands. They seem to discriminate against anyone who doesn't have a partner who can't be present for a stupid quote. Ridiculous.

Hello ! I had my Colorbond roof done by Roof Seal -- read my review! I wouldn't recommend them to paint the doghouse. Nothing but trouble and angst. Had to take them to VCAT, who recommended that I refer the matter to the ACCC. You are in the same area as me, and will therefore have to deal with the same franchise ! Good luck !

Hi Jackie,
Yes they replaced all cracked and broken tiles. Fortunately we have a fairly common type of cement tile the fella told me so it was not hard for them to find replacements.
Kind regards

Hi Jackie
My answer is exactly the same as Wayne's. They replaced all the cracked and broken tiles, but ours are the common ones too. They also left some spare tiles.

Hi Jackie,
Any tiles that may or would cause leaking should be replaced before any coating process
however, if there is a chipped tile within the water channel of that tile then that would be placed to the gutter line row, as an industry requirement
Hoping this helps

Does roof seal contractors follow WH&S regulation and the "Code of practice for spray paining and powder coating" set by the commonwealth government.

1 answer
Roof Seal
Roof Seal A.Roof Seal

Roof Seal comply with all legislation relevant to our industry. Where the safety of our clients and our tradespeople are concerned we are considered to be leaders in the industry. We use airless spray equipment to minimise any overspray or atomising of the product. The coating itself is a non toxic, non flammable acrylic which is water based. We have worked with water authorities in South Australia who described our process as "best practice", this is the same process we use on all of our work. We would be happy to answer any specific query, if you feel that we have missed one of the mountainous government legislations we would also be happy to discuss this
