Washing Machines Buying Guide
Our buying guide will explain which type of washing machine would suit you most, how much you can expect to pay for one, and which features are worth looking out for.
Buy European, Maytag or Fisher and Paykel, Do not buy Samsung
We have the same issues, black flakey that floats to the surface, Ive read other reviews and apparently its a build up of fabric softer and detergent, two bad combinations. This machine is useless, it only spins about 650 RPMs which is a pathetic spin speed (our fisher and paykel top loader could spin 1200 RPM), i dislike the child lock feature during the wash cycle - its good to be able to see how your clothes are being washed/agitated - in this case poorly washed... the plastic body parts at the top end of the machine have turned completely y...Read more
ellow and ive only had the machine for 3 years.. If your looking for a new washing machine do not purchase a Samsung (cheap) I guess this is what I get for purchasing such a cheap rubbish washing machine!!!! If your looking for a good top loader go Maytag or Fisher and Paykel, if your buying a Front loader please consider a European model, Front Loaders were revolutionized by the Eurpoeans!!!!! Pay a couple hundred dollars more for a European model, please dont buy a Samsung or any other Asian made appliance. If you buy Fisher and Paykel make sure it was model made in New Zealand!!!! Does anyone have any suggestions of how to remove the flakey from these pathetic machines? Very disappointed with Samsung, your being too greedy trying to market and produce too many different products, as a result all you do is make cheap too many products and end up producing crap! Perhaps you should just stick to producing Mobile phones!!!! This experience has reinforced my distaste and hatred even further for your brand!!!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Absolute rubbish
I have 1 of these terrible machines. I can't understand how it ever got a 4 star water rating. If it can't get the momentum to spin, it fills up with water again. What a waste. It tangles clothes badly. Just last week I washed my queen size sheets & the flat sheet & pillow cases ended up in a big lump inside the fitted sheet. Would never buy another Samsung

I'm in love with my washing machine!
It sings a cute song when it's finished, it washes my clothes really clean, it has a soak function (very handy) so no more bucket soaking, actually does take 8kg of washing and washes the whole 8kg as clean as if a small load was done, fuzzy logic takes the guess work out of 'estimating' the size of the load so appropriate water is used not too much or too little. Everything in my house that can possibly fit in there, has been washed. Have done blankets, king-size sheet and doona covers, the summer cotton doona, also dog beds and bathmats - al...Read more
l come out sparkly. No agitator so more fits in and its gentler on clothes. Love the lint filter that catches the lint so it doesn't stick to my new clothes instead making them look newer longer - instead of that well worn fluffy look after only a few washes. How can I not be happy with all of the above! Its changed my life - now I actually want to do the washing - its the pegging out and folding (and ironing) now that I dread!!! I wonder if there's enough dirty washing in the basket for a load today. Edit: This machine is part of the Samsung recall. I have since traded it in on a brand new panasonic. If you have a Samsung, checkout the recall notice and get rid of it asap! delivers everything it says it does with quality

I love my new washing machine.
I purchased a Samsung SW80SPWIP washing machine about 6 weeks ago. It it a top loader and I had a 5kg front loader previously for 13 yrs. I prefer the top loader to the front loader.
My Samsung does a great wash. Doesnt tangle and the clothes come out really clean and well spun.
The little tune at the end of the wash is cute. The variety of functions are amazing.
I now do less than half the amount of loads with this machine as it is a 8kg and my front loader was only 5kg so water usuage is about the same overall.
The only proble...Read more

Worst Machine Ever!
Two main issues with this machine are the black flaky stuff that sticks to the clothes and the fact that everything comes out in one lump! An 8kg machine takes a lot of clothes when they get so tangled up together that they all come out in one lump, it is a problem. I have to bag all delicates, shoe string strap type tops, and anything that is likely to be damaged by the rough treatment in the machine. I chose the machine for the size and delay start- great features, but not worth the stress of the other issues. Sales guys were useless ( probably have never used a washing machine themselves).
Am going to ask Samsung for a refund.

flaky substances started appearing after a year of use
Apparently we are not alone, never had this type of issue with other washers we've had. At first I thought someone in the family left something in their pocket, but the flaky stuff never went away after running clean cycles. Piece of junk!

Terrible...I advise anyone not ..Not to purchase
Have had my samsung for 2 yrs and 8 months.Firstly it was great..I was very happy, now..All black slimy crap in it,it stinks to buggery, have done all the cleaning people have advised me to do,doing washing the other day something went clunk and then the bowl just over flowed with water.Rang samsung told me to call these people here, rang them..$80.00 call out and $22.00 for every 15 mins.Im throwing it in the bin and buying a reliable simpson. I will never purchase a samsung item again. As far as im concerned they can send the lot back to where they from.

Worst machine ever!
I have the same problem with the black flakes..most irritating when you expect to get a clean wash! Tangles all the clothes terribly. Would never purchase a Samsung again.
I think all Samsung owners who are not happy should get together and go to the media and then see if Samsung will accept responsibility for their useless machines!
Nowhere in the manuals are we told that this would happen to our wash.
If it is because of the fabric softener then why have a dispenser for it!

Disappointing
After the first recall and computer panel swap, this machine lasted 2 more years then the new computer panel died. :( Its a shame because I really did love this washing machine. It had easy to use wash cycles and was a sturdy, strong, quiet machine. I took out the extra 3 years warranty, thank goodness. But no point waiting for replacement parts when it's likely to die again with in 2 years and I'm out of warranty and left with no machine. Now for the fun job of trying to find a reliable machine... *sigh* The store we bought it from credited us the purchase price.
Excellent wash cycles
Computer panel dies

not very good
yes it washers like it should but the magic filter after about 20 washers doesn't clean up good anymore and doesn't click in the slot anymore i have had to buy 4 filters since i bought it at the beginning of 2013
so i think need to make better filters and yes this is the one that was recalled but that didn't effect this review
cheap to run, water saving
filters, bad call centre

i hate the magic filter it never stays in the slot :@

d me to clean it using vinegar and hot wash - a couple of times. If you look in the manuel it says you can get a black fungus which is harmful to human skin if you use your machine in repeatly in humid conditions. Go figure.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Faulty Design - Can Catch on Fire
Updated: My machine while initially had the recall fix by Samsung, has since been replaced with a newer model, as 30% of the repaired/fixed models still caught on fire. The new model - WA80F5G4DJW [8kg] works great.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I've own this machine now (8kg model) for over 6 months and so far so good. It does what it promises. The lint filter works well. I mostly use the auto function (sensor) and it seems to get the job done.
Recent recall on the machine hasn't dampened my ownership experience. Samsung ca...Read more
me and checked it, then made some safety modifications and it's been business as usual. Re: Recall - apparently some machines experienced water/moisture to get into a compartment under the top plastic cowling of the machine where some electrical wiring are plugged-in/connected. When these plastic (electric) plugs get wet, they overheat and causes them (plugs) to melt. The safety recall put a waterproof and fireproof pouch around the electrical plugs that could get wet.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good first impressions, but going backwards fast ...
I really liked my samsung 8kg washing machine at first, but (ignoring the product recall here) I started noticing problems ... Firstly the detergent tray at the top sometimes comes loose somehow and I get to the end of the wash and open the machines to find the drawer open with all the detergent still in it and I have to start the wash again, and yes I check and double check that I haven't just left it open.
I also have noticed that on a full load the fuzzy logic leaves some of my clothes completely out of the water for most of the wash and...Read more
so they don't get washed ( I wouldn't have noticed this except I've got paranoid about repeating washes so now check after 10 minutes). I don't want a super duper washing machine, I just want one that works ... This one was cheap, but it wasn't good value and I wouldn't buy one again. Cheap, big load Detergent tray keeps coming loose, poor washSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good washer
Having had good experiences with other Samsung products (camera, hard drive and a DVD recorder) I thought I'd get one of these (the SW80SPWIP).
The one-star energy rating was off-putting, but some research indicated this was only relevant to hot water washing. If you use cold water mostly, most large washers use much the same amount of energy: http://www.energyrating.gov.au
So far, it's performed very well, with no problems.
The magic lint filter, the detergent dissolving spray, the fuzzy logic and the Schubert song it plays at finish

Good but with faults
I've had the 8kg washer for about 6 months now. The wash is quick and quiet and I love the lint filter which removes so much fluff. My clothes have never looked better. Water use also seems efficient. Delicates still need to go in bags to protect them, but I've never had a machine that did them safely without. It includes many useful features such as a delay timer, mist spray, fuzzy logic, ability to save programs and child locks.
One thing I hate with a passion is the detergent draw. Soon after I got it, it jammed half-way out. Event...Read more
ually I cut the back parts off and now it slides in and out well. However it is still difficult to fill because when the cover is open the draw is under it. The rest of the machine is so well designed it's almost as if this bit was designed by someone else! Another minor annoyance is a filter at the rear that should be checked regularly. It is also less intuitive to change the default programs to for example, rinse only. Compared to my previous 9kg LG washer of the same type, it takes substantially fewer clothes. Overall it is easy to use and delivers an excellent wash. I have removed a point for irritating faults. Quick, quiet, cleans really well, love the lint filter, many useful features such as mist, delay and soak. The detergent drawer, the filter at the back,.Similar opinion? I'm loving it.
I bought the Samsung SW80SPWIP washing machine based on brand reputation, reviews and price after our 11 yr old F&P gave up the ghost. I am loving the Samsung's impeller vs the F&P's agitator because there's heaps more room for clothes and the agitator occasionally tore clothes. I have only had the new Samsung for a couple of weeks but I appreciate its ease of use (very intuitive to operate) and its capacity. It is worth following the instructions about the order in which you place clothes in the machine (heaviest items on the bottom) as wash...Read more
ing can get a bit tangled otherwise. It is also has a v.g. water efficiency rating. Taking advice from another review here, I am covering the shiny top with a cloth to avoid scratches. Very easy to use, large capacity, washes well. The detergent dispenser seems a bit flimsy when you pull it out so I am trying to be less vigorous.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
