Just what I wanted from Santa!!
Santa got me a Soda Stream for Christmas...love it..the family love it and this will increase our water consumption on a daily basis. Love the ease of the machine and not be limited to where I can use it as it is not electric.
Looking forward to trying it with some flavours especially Tonic water for my G&T's!!!

Terrible service. Beware of NO online exchange policy !.
This review is about the company. By mistake I selected a SodaStream product online and wanted to exchange! not return! as I chose an electrically ran machine and not a press button that we could use camping when we do not have electricity and also for environmental reasons. I was unable to exchange for no reason apart that they do not exchange online purchases!!!! Very disappointed and then found out I could of bought the same product in Woolworths..... terrible service SodaStream. I will not recommend your company.

SodaStream long term review
I have been using SodaStream now exclusively for over 4 years.
Living rurally with a 20 kilometre trip to a basic shop it just makes sense to be able to carbonate at home rather than lug supplies of soft drink home every week . The convenience alone is a winner, but if you are a determined "Fizzer" then you might want to investigate into converting your machine to run on 6kg CO2 bottles, which works out far cheaper in the long run ... one cylinder lasts me approximately a year! The Soda stream CO2 bottles while being perfectly fine and easy ...Read more

Now an always treat
We didn't drink a lot of sparkling water in the past but did buy it for special occasions. We umd and ahd for a while before purchasing. Been pretty happy we did - we drink a lot more carbonated water now, so probably hasn't saved us money but it's definitely been a great and well used product!
It's a great guilt free treat for the kids too!

Life Changing!
We have 4 sons and We were going through loads of bottled sparkling water, purchased our soda stream and are now saving not only money but also the environment! The amount of bottles we were recycling was becoming a bit ridiculous!
We now have the ability to have sparkling water in a matter of seconds, and we have 3 bottles on the go constantly. 2 kept in the fridge.
I love that we have the ability to modify how bubbly we want the water and its
Our soda stream would probably be our most used and valued appliance. Kids and adults are loving it!
Its also super easy to replace the gas, with so many shops offering the swap service- making it far more cost effective!!

Worth converting from bottled soda
We recently bought a Soda Stream Jet to replace the 10+ bottles of soda our family went through in a week. Were all really happy with the purchase and think were saving a bit of money.
The bottles are a bit fiddly to screw into the machine but ok once you're used to it.
Kids are keen to see if the syrups work better than normal cordial!

its good but
i like it a lot but when i put in the syrup the water the i just carbonated, bubbles out with the syrup and make a big mess so when i put the syrup in have to wait 20 minutes before putting in the syrup its a pain but it tastes good and cheaper than buying a bunch of Coke

Not worth the money
I have had 3 Sodastreams over three years. All seals leaking on every unit. Cylinder continues to flow into bottle and when cylinder loosened liquid flows back and flooding from connection. Much cheaper options available if you have co2 cylinder for home brew from Kegland you can carbonate anything in a Coke bottle with a cap that fits and attaches to the cylinder. About$1.50 each

Unreliable
I have been using the Sodastream for well over a year.
I wanted to cut down on the number of plastic bottles of soda I was buying from the supermarket and this was a good solution.
I kept records of output of the Sodastream and it was on par or slightly better than the price per litre for supermarket soda.
The Sodastream assembly is almost entirely plastic and I believe this is the reason that it doesn't give consistent carbonation. You might get good gas on one pour (5 depressions of 3 seconds) but the next will be very weak and despite multiple depressions you get hardly any fizz. This pattern seems to continue and it isnt the bottle at fault.
So, if you want consistency buy soda water from the supermarket.

Doesn't produce enough refills
Sodastream works well however it filled only 25 bottles for $20. I can buy Springwater from coles for .90c. I am very disappointed in the poor economic value. I hope to see the price of the refill cylinders come down in price in the near future.

Cylinder doesn't last long enough to be economical
I purchased a Spirit OneTouch a couple of months ago from BigW. The first cylinder lasted about 4 weeks with 2 bottles carbonated a day. The last one has only lasted about 2 weeks with similar carbonation amount. I like the idea of less waste going to landfill when using Sodastream, but it is not going to be very economical if there is a need to purchase a cylinder so often!

Just so good!
We absolutely loved our Soda stream Power I've just purchased my 2nd one. We have 2 in separate locations where we spend a lot of time.
I was so surprised at how bubbly the water becomes and the best feature of the power stream is the fact you can choose 1 2 or 3 rather than continuing to press the carbonate button
The cylinders seem to last ages. I found our first one we used in about 5 weeks which was rather quick but the subsequent ones have lasted longer I think we were just so excited with it we were using so much.

Sodastream Works Well and Reduces Waste Plastics
Has been working well for the past six months. We find simple Aldi cordial make good softdrinks and likewise simply lime juice.
We were able to reduce our plastic consumption also.
Only negative is they're perhaps a little expensive for what they are.

A pathetic company with poor customer relations
I accidentally left my empty SodaStream cylinder at home, needed a refill so paid double $38 ($19 normally with a replacement cylinder). When I went back with 2 empty canisters, I thought they'd just give me a new one as a trade-in for the 2, But no they only offered me a $1. What a rip-off. Spoke to the Company, who admitted that was their customer policy. Thought everybody should be aware of such a mean-spirited company, so Soda Stream really is. Don't trust theses guys

poor after sales service
Machine not fizzing and not buzzing. Rang help desk they said send photo, photo sent. Then they wanted me to send video. Very difficult, so my son had to help me to send it via We Transfer. They accessed the video then, they emailed me to say they had lost the video and to resend. I am not able to video or submit video myself. Don't expect efficiency from this company.

After 12 months the machine fails
Soda stream told me they do not provide spare parts or have repair centres for their machines!! After warranty our machine started leaking. I had to message a video recording so they could help me. They told me to hold the machine in locked position! I want a FIX!! $160 FOR THE MACHINE, $30ea FOR THE GLASS CARAFES, $20.95 TO REFILL A CYLINDER!!! NO REPAIR SERVICE, NO SPARE PARTS??! This is a joke! NOT ENVIRONMENTAL! We purchased the machine as an environmental choice to reduce waste and use our own water. It was great whilst working but it's cheaper to buy horrible plastic bottles from supermarket... NOT HAPPY!!

Sodastream Play - no bubbles dreadful service.
We had an old model soda stream which was fantastic and eventually died and so we went and bought a new sodastream Play (the only model available) immediately. We were so disappointed. The new model didn't grip our old bottles so thinking that was why we had no bubbles we went and bought all new bottles which the Play machine gripped but still didn't put bubbles into the water - a total fizzer - no pun intended. We contacted soda stream but they are very very slow to respond.

Not all machines are equal.
I had often commented on Mum's ready supply of SodaStream sparkling water. So she gave me a SodaStream for my birthday. My new "Play" version had no where near the 'Fizz" despite the amount of gas I pumped into the bottle (up to 2 x 10 secs), compared to Mum's old machine which required 1 x 4-5 secs pump. After 2 calls to the Soda Stream company - they told me 20 seconds is normal, keep pumping more gas into it (despite the instructions say 2 - 6 seconds is all that's required) I took the machine back to the original retailer - with receipt- a...Read more
nd ready with a video-clip if necessary to show them. They happily exchanged it, and I now have a machine that actually works. From my experience Soda stream will never been as bubbly as commercial Soda Water, but you can expect it to be like some commercial sparkling water. It should not produce a result that tastes like very flat mineral water. If it does - take it back; there must be some duds getting through their quality testing.Similar opinion? Questions & Answers
Josie Pasked
I purchased Soda stream for the first time xmas 2022 and love it. However I purchased our first replacement cylinder on Monday 10/2/2020 from Woolworths and the water tastes horrible, metallic like. I take sodastream to work everyday with no flavouring. I thought it may have been a dirty Bottle but they are cleaned after every use. This morning I make a fresh bottle and the taste has not changed, still tastes metallic and not right. I removed the cylinder and reinstalled with no difference. Can I take the bottle back to Woolworths and have it replaced? The bottle has 27 on the bottom. Not sure if that is significant. I look forward to your reply

SodaStream A.SodaStream
Hi Derek, thanks for getting in contact. We are sorry to hear that you are having this experience. A common question with our Sparkling Water Maker is that it isn’t gassing or not gassing sufficiently, 98% of the time this is due to the cylinder not being in tight enough. You would be surprised just how much of a difference the smallest bit of movement can make!
Can you please try the below troubleshooting:
Please check the weight of your cylinder:
Full 60L approx. 1.1kg
Empty 60L approx. 750g
Please try TIGHTENING the cylinder as much as you possibly can, to the point where it will not turn even a millimetre more. If you use a tea towel or a silicone mat, this will help you to get extra grip on the cylinder & a tighter fit. We cannot stress enough the importance of this. You won't break your sparkling water maker by doing this, so please don't worry about that!
Once you have completed the above troubleshooting please let us know the outcome so that we can assist you further if needed.

The water from my new sodastream comes out flat
1 answer
HI Dee,
Check the canister is done up very tight if it's a new one, if old, you might be out of gas. The canister needs to be super tight by hand so it doesn't leak.
Hope this helps.
