On the day the install team arrived and put everything in place quickly, quietly and with a minimum of fuss. They were helpful cleaning everything up afterwards and took away the old hot water service and an unused Foxtel Ariel that allowed them better access to the roof and solar panel area. They showed us through the operation manual and answered all questions. So far everything is working fine, but we also have all the paperwork for the warranty etc. so I am confident that if anything did go wrong, it would be fixed immediately. This was a considerable investment for us, but the return in about 5-7 years will make this worthwhile. Poor service after purchase
I have all ready given a review on how bad the install was. When my micrometers keep dropping out and not reporting my envoy shows it making power from midnight i contacted them
But The install has nothing on there after sales service this is what i got from the Customer Liaison Officer sitting at her desk. It sounds like it may be a WiFi signal strength issue. Fantastic Experience with this company and their installer!
What a refreshing experience dealing with this company!
We initially spoke with them 2 years ago but decided not to proceed.
When we contacted them late 2022 they still had our details and I spoke with the same person! They had great patience with all my questions (even the daft ones) and explained everything clearly.
The installer was great - prompt, polite, professional and tidied everything up before they left.
Fantastic experience and have no hesitation to recommend Solargain and Lee's Electrical.

Multiple delays and a failure to meet the CEC code of conduct
My experience with Solargain was poor to say the least. This is a long review, but hopefully steps out the multiple failures of Solargain across the quote - install - post install process so you can avoid the same mistakes I made in choosing them for your system.
I requested a quote from Solargain on 09/09/19. Over the next couple of days via phone and email I asked for some simple amendments to the quote. Some of these were made, others (such as removing 1 panel from the quote) were not. I went back and forth about 4 times before being to...Read more
ld that the quote didn’t really matter as it could be amended after submission to the Solar Victoria portal. I finally asked the consultant to provide a copy of the quote to my specifications that could be accepted by myself and submitted to Solar Vic by solargain. This simply didn’t happen and the consultant stopped responding to my calls or emails. As a result, I missed the rebate window and my install was delayed. The CEC code of conduct states that ‘Approved retailers will provide you with the necessary information in writing to enable full education about your purchase prior to entering into a contract.’ I should have listened to my gut and avoided Solargain based on my initial interactions, but they had so many good reviews that I led myself to believe that things would get better - they didn’t. I tried again to get the correct quote uploaded by Solargain for the October rebate and again the consultant was unwilling to correct the quote to the system I’d actually asked for (13 panel Jinko, 5kw Growatt inverter - nothing complex!). Finally the consultant promised to correct the quote and submit it to the portal with two days to spare before the next rebate. Frustratingly he then failed to do so, and when I called to find out why I was advised that he’d gone on holiday. If I hadn’t followed up and chased a new consultant I would have missed that round of rebates as well.1 comment

Great customer service
From the onset all of Solargain's representatives were very professional, timely and just easy to communicate with.
From the quote, invoice, installations, reminders and emails, phone calls all went smoothly. Overall, in our personal experience, it was pleasant and I dont recall any negatives.

Previous good experience and the same second time around
I was previous customer of Solargain from few years back. I choose to upgrade my system to new one due to capacity limit and my high power usage. From quote to install and after sales support things were fine. System had few issues for two days after install so I logged a call.
Yes it did take longer than I would've liked to hear back from support but nonetheless when I was contacted I was given a reason for my issue and what I can do about it(logging with Solargain and monitoring in case power supply company is actually causing issue by power spikes).
Overall I have used Solargain twice and recognize others had issue s but in my case both times Solargain did an excellent job and thus I am happy to recommend them.

No Fuss Installation
The process was excellent from start to finish. Sales people were prompt to reply to enquires before installation, however customer support afterwards was a little hard as you have to go through the customer service centre and not the actual electricians themselves.

Great service, great price
We had to replace our inverter, unlike other companies that only quoted on replacing the whole solar system, solargain gave us a good price on a new inverter, with fantastic features. I dealt with Beau in head office, and Damien, who did the installation. Both were professional, helpful and on time. Highly recommended

Professional from start to finish.
Solargain did not install my system but were the Fronius warranty recommended company. They replaced my inverter and even called back to help me set up the WiFi. 100% recommended.

Solargain was recommended by a neighbour after we had discounted offers from other suppliers a few months earlier. as to meet our tight timeframe leading up to Christmas. They completed all forms, obtained all necessary approvals and even facilitated the change over of to a smart meter. Installation went very well with a high level of professionalism of the local team evident even down to final cleanup and removal of our old hot water tank/system. The Team Leader always kept us fully informed on what was happening and engaged with us for our thoughts and preferences during installation. Due the placement of panels we never expected 10.8 KW but to date we regularly get around 75% and are very pleased with this. Much of this goes to the grid with many hours at the 5KW maximum allowed of a single phase system in the ACT. So, we are looking forward to low bills in the future. I have no hesitation in recommending that Solargain be approached if you are thinking of going solar.1 comment

Customer Service Shocking with a hint of scammers
1. Installation was a breeze no problem with that, system was supplied by the estate. There’s your 1 star.
2. Initially rang Solargain tech team, done full reset as advised. Tech person advised that the code that was displayed meant there was a power issue to the inverter (Fronius).

Solargain Install Fronius Inverter & Jinko Panels
We had a system quoted but it was about 12 months before we had the funds to go ahead with the purchase/install.
When we had the funds there had been an update in tech where we could drop down from 24 to 20 panels for the system as they are now producing 300w instead of the original 275w.
Called our rep and he starting organising for us.
During this busy period leading up to xmas we were still able to get the system installed in a 3 week timeframe. The install team arrived when they said they would. They were very professional and the job is bang on.
I now have a system producing between 35kw - 42kw per day of beautiful free power.

Terrible experience
Have had appalling experience with Solargain from the start of installation throughout the warranty of the product what they sell.
Installers actually burned down my oven and central air-conditioning because electrician didn't screw down wires correctly in the electrical box. It happened during the winter and I just had 1 month old son home from hospital. Only way to keep his room warm was to use electrical heater. Oven was fixed same day, but air-conditioning took a month because of the spare electrical board needed.

up and running inverters started to restart themselves randomly. Discovered that installers have used thinner cable than allowed by standard over the distance what I had in my house. Again they had to come back and pull off old wiring and run thicker cable. Few months later one of the Solaredge 2500H inverter fails to start up in the mornings randomly. I advised Solargain as soon as this happened August 2022. After several Solaredge handymans and after several Solargain handymans 27th of November inverter was changed out. This is 3 months of endless calls/emails/reporting and lost money as system produces half what was expected. Week later I'm happy to say that new Solaredge 2500H inverter is still not working!!! Solargain Technician did the setup and advised that everything is up and running without any problems. Went to check 5 minutes after technician left and to my surprise inverter wasn't done as inverter was showing fault and didn''t produce anything. On 29th Solaredge logs into the system and fixes the problem, all I have to do is wait until Monday and everything should be up and running by that time. Monday arrives and inverter doesn't produce anything and on display it's showing restarting in next 1120 seconds, like this over and over again. Calls to warranty department always end with 'we will call you back' but no call ever comes. Lead time to solve these problems are just ridiculously long. I was even promised call back today 3/12 to advise when Solargain technician is available to attend, but as expected no call from Solargain. I have asked multiple times to take system off and give money back, but no one has actually responded to this. By 3/12/19 I don't have working system what I paid for and was promised by Solargain. Will update this once system is fixed, removed or no action at all.1 comment

Testla Battery supply and install
I had quite a bit of trouble getting a quote for a battery, thankfully Joel at Solargain Melbourne and Paul from Perth were very helpful and did no ask for upfront payments. I had some issues with my finance due to an uexpected event and had to put my quote on hold. I then found out that our suburb had been put on the Solar rebate with Solar Vic. I immediatley contacted Joel and he quickly updated my quote and put it on the solar vic portal so I could apply.
Everything went smoothly (although slowly with Solar Vic) and had our battery installed this last weekend by two great chaps. We could not be happier with the service and professionalism provided us by Solargain staff all round.

Spotters fee
The actual product is very good but the people that recommended us to Solargain have not received any reward. We have recommended two others and have received a spotters fee ($100.00) for one. When I contact to find out if I am getting a rewards it's always, "I'll pass this on to the rep". Don't expect me to forward any more names.

2Kw micro inverter array installed but Envoy failed less than 3 years in.
Was reasonably happy with the install although the sales guy on the phone didnt know much about how solar panels function when the sun was low in the sky. Anyway the install was fine and everything was good until the Enphase Envoy stopped reporting data. Solar gain sent a tech out who concluded their was "noise" in our power cables and that was messing with the Envoy. We tried moving it to other power points, testing where the noise might be coming from but it was all inconclusive. In the end Solar gain just said we'd have to buy an updated version for over $600!!! It was still under warranty but the "noise" issue is apparently our problem even though it worked fine for 2.5 years. Very poor customer service. Would not recommend.

Worst decision
The initial installation went well - I handed over my $3,500 and Solargain claimed a MUCH LARGER amount against the then government subsidy scheme. Things were OK for a while. I recall having one warranty claim for a part that failed. Then another part failed, outside the warranty period and I paid a considerable sum for the repair. I discovered that if any part in the system fails, the first you know about it is when your electricity bill arrives and there is nothing shown as 'feed-in'. n, write down numbers, and see if they get bigger over time. There is no warning light or other indicator of failure. Recently it failed again - I paid $418 for an electrician to come out and replace two more of their circuit breakers that failed after only about 11 years. I still don't see how 2 circuit breakers can cost $180 + GST. The other circuit breakers in the meter box are now well into they 15th year and show no signs of failure. A bit too convenient I think. I estimate that, at this rate, the system might just pay for itself when I am about 295 years old. Every time I have a problem the company is certainly very easy to deal with. They are friendly over the phone, prompt and efficient - and it all comes a great expense to ME. And when I ask about the reliability of the components installed in my system I am told something like ... "oh yes, they are an older model and they did cause a few problems". Statement of the obvious! Solardrain states on their website . . . 'Genuine care, long after your solar energy system has been installed' This is incorrect; it should read . . 'Genuine financial pain long after your system is installed'. I deeply regret investing $3,500 of my money plus what the taxpayers put in for a PV system that is just unreliable at best. I can't even feel good about saving the planet.1 comment

I have just had a solar system installed and they put the wrong panels on my roof. They gave me 22 stp 300s suntech panels and we should have had 21 315 watt trina split cell panels. My question is should I get them to swap the panels to the correct panels or are the ones I have been given just as good and I leave them on the roof save messing about.

David, like you we installed six panels and a 1.2 kW inverter along with a solar hot water system with a gas booster. The solar panels was via solargain and after ten years our inverter failed. Our hot water tank started leaking so we had Solargain install 9 panels, a 2 kW inverter and an i store hot water system. So far we are very happy but it has only been installed for about five weeks. We are producing a lot more energy and lots of hot water.
