My last washing machine was a Fisher & Paykel Aquasmart, designed to be extremely water & energy efficient, but the worst machine I've ever had. I had to double rinse every cycle, often manually pouring bucket-loads of clean water into the machine because it rinsed using hardly any water and the clothes always came out with suds or a black scum on them, despite me using less than the recommended amount of washing powder. This is not time, energy or water efficient! My new Speed Queen has reduced my water & energy consumption, as shown on my bills, despite the water & energy rating it has. I am a happy customer.

@problemchild my Fisher & Paykel Aqua smart is now on its last rubber and jumps all over the place, it has NEVER washed whites adequately, the whites end up with black lint all over them. Will never buy another Fisher & Paykel. We use grey water (council rules) for our washing so water use is not a problem. Looking to purchase a Speed Queen.

Speed Queen washing machine purchased May 2013 from Winning Appliances, Northmead NSW. Dials manually turn & easy to use - not sure if same as Kleenmaid.

I bought my AWNA62 Speed Queen from F. L. Costello & Co (Newington 2127 Sydney) 1 week ago. Demo floor model (no washing done) with full warranty at much reduced price (affordable for us). I also had a Kleenmaid for 16.5 years but seals and bearings went so did not bother to have it repaired ($600.00+). More dials than the Kleenmaid but I am very, very pleased with our purchase .... The machine cycle never stops...it just keeps going and going. What are we doing wrong?

Once you set the cycle, eg 'gentle', the machine will continue until it completes that cycle. You won't know at what stage it's at, except by the buttons flashing on 'rinse' or 'spin'. If I want to drip-dry any clothes I lift the lid as it begins to spin, but you need to be at the machine as it won't stop without you manually doing so.

I disagree with the other answer @ I think you should ask speedqueen Australia or the shop where you bought it from @ it seems like there might be something wrong with it unless you have it on extra rinse @ if you haven't got in on extra rinse there might be something wrong with the washing machine in which case perhaps it would be time to get a speedqueen washing machine technician to come and have a look at it

I bought a Speed Queen AWNA62 end Jan 2013, because my previous machine was a Kleenmaid that worked great for more than 20 years. When I use the high efficiency option my clothes come out with streaks of white powder on them. Today I watched the machine and found that it does not fill up for a rinse. It just drains out the washing water, then spins and spurts water on the clothes intermittently then ends. The regular option fills up for rinsing. I always use delicates cycle to protect the life of my clothes and this was recommended to me by a SQ serviceman. I want to know - should the machine fill up to rinse on the high efficiency option? Spray rinsing and spinning isn't working!

You are better off just using the washing machine normally associated you are wasting time and not to mention water and electricity.

There might be even something wrong with it the way you described the situation @ perhaps it's time you got a different washing machine repairs and servicing technician to have a look at the washing machine to see if they can help.

The way a normal washing machine works is the water fills up and it turns left and right therefore the washing liquid penetrates the clothes and most of the dirt goes into the washing suds then the water pump gets rid of the dirty water then sprays the clothes with water to get rid of more dirt then spins some more then the second cycle comes along in which the rinse cycle comes along so you can put in fabric softener to condition the clothes @ there still will be a bit of dirt there though nothing to worry about then the water pump kicks out the water again to the hose which should either lead outside or to the tub that leads to the sewage pipe it sprays the clothes some more with water then just gets rid of the excess water off the clothes so the water doesn't drip all over the place after you get the clothes out of the washing machine tub / if you are missing any of these steps in the washing machine you are probably using the wrong washing cycle or there might be something wrong with the washing machine.

Also delicate cycle was made for soft woollens and things like a bra @ if normal cycle is not helping then like I stated before it's probably better to get a qualified trained professional to have a look at the washing machine.

The smaller capacity rating is so that the machines pass the WELS label requirements. They do not pass at 8kg as they do not wash properly at this load size according to the standard.
The new AWN62 has an 84 minute cycle on the WELS tested cycle. The control is no longer an electromechanical adjustable dial but an electronic selector that does not allow incremental cycle times like the previous machines.
