Still going strong and mache amazing coffee
Artista EM5900Still going strong and mache amazing coffee, especially for the price. It can be noisy but so are the much more expensive alternatives
Show detailsWorks well, a bit noisy, can make excellent coffee. Some build issues
Artista EM5900This review is a reflection on the Artista after 15? years of constant use...
Build: solid, a bit noisy in operation
Ease of use: largely manual, have to time shot yourself, some user customisation in water temp.
Design: single boiler, variable temp for steam, water, shot - pump is standard italian ucla 50hz pump. No pressure regulator - large capacity water tank
Group head - with single / dual double walled filter baskets - standard size used by krupps, breville etc. + accessories.
Making Coffee: for the best tasting coffee, get some singl
Awesome machine! Still punching after 9 years
Artista EM5900Got it free off a mate. Brews an excellent coffee, and still has excellent steam pressure despite never once being descaled. My only complaint would be the silver on the buttons coming off, but it doesn't affect form or function in any meaningful way.
Show detailsGreat tasting coffee to match your inner barrista
Artista PU5900 (EM5900 Machine + EM0450 Coffee Grinder)This user friendly coffee machine will bring out your inner barrista as you make tasty, hot coffee with the touch of a button. The grinder that accompanies the machine can be calibrated to your desired grind so that your coffee can taste just as you like it. With easy clean and convenient attachments this machine can make two coffees at a time and the steaming wand to the side allows you to heat and froth the milk simultaneously. There is also a hot water wand for easy top ups. Washing the attachments and parts in warm soapy water will keep them hygienically clean, shiny and fresh ready for your next brew.

Great Machine
Artista EM5900Elegant, quick and easy! Great first coffee machine to have. Does most things perfectly, not too large and not overly complicated. The warming tray is a bit small for my liking but the rest of the functions perform with little hassle and give a great end product. Cheers to coffee :)
Show detailsCold espresso
Artista EM5900Machine noisy but easy to use not bad coffee but for what I paid disappointing that I cannot get hot espresso. Have complained to Sunbeam but didn't help. Tried warming the cup and followed the instruction booklet but still no hot coffee just warm. Don't buy if you only drink espresso. When purchased staff did not no much about the machine.
Excellent coffee machine for the money.
Artista EM5900Yes I did own a Em5900 and liked the easiness of brewing .A bit noisy but taste was good enough to buy the next one but they don't make them any more. That makes this review useless and I usually don't buy refurbished/2nd hand ones as a rule for these machines.
Hope this helps.
A great beginner's machine
Artista EM5900I bought it in Briscoes NZ as a packaged deal with a grinder in 2011 after I left my first cafe job as a back-of-house staff. It helps me practice my coffee-making skills continually while I try to find front-of-house cafe work after I left university last year. It makes consistent espresso shot with great crema, it gets the desired result with a shiny-looking milk, but it does take quite a while to get to temperature, unlike the time it takes to warm up the machine itself.
Very easy to use and clean, consistent espresso shot (albeit fast) an
Disappointed machine owner
Artista PU5900 (EM5900 Machine + EM0450 Coffee Grinder)Purchased this machine February 2011.(First 2 machines didn't work on purchase). When it was working it made great coffee but had to have it fixed at great expense twice. Then in October 2012 the circuit board blew up after only having the machine fixed 7 weeks before. Very disappointed as I thought Sunbeam was going to be a good brand to purchase. Warranty only 12 months so nothing covered in time of break down.
It was east to use and clean and made good coffee.
Had to be fixed twice before finally blew up.

I love a good coffee
Artista EM5900First of all, this is a noisy mofo, but it does brew a good coffee. Until we moved recently, our kitchen was from the Stone Age so when you turned this machine on it would make everything on the benches rattle. It's not a good machine to have if your baby's room is next to the kitchen either.
None of those problems now, although its still rather loud.
Despite that, it brews fantastic coffee, has a hot water function for tea, and takes coffee pods that are available online.
Yummy yummy coffee
A bit loud
Great coffee maker just like a bought one..
Artista PU5900 (EM5900 Machine + EM0450 Coffee Grinder)Purchased this sunbeam coffee maker 3 years ago, and we have had no troubles and care free coffee making since. It has a large 3ltr water tank, although i swear it is always empty.. :-) Pressure pump is great for a small machine and steam function is very powerful. Hot water tap is slow and not very hot. This machine also has a large run capture tank, but some times the water runs underneath this tank and onto the bench.
This machine came with a conical burr grinder, and as a package it was very good value. Grinder is a bit hit and mis
My new best friend
Artista PU5900 (EM5900 Machine + EM0450 Coffee Grinder)I recently purchased the sunbeam coffee maker, and I think it's brilliant. Having consumed many cappuccinos in my time, but never having made one before, I was surprised how easy it was to make a great cappuccino first time. It looks fantastic, and is beautifully finished, which I think is important. It has the feel of a much more expensive machine. It came with a conical burr grinder, and as a package it was very good value. Having not owned it for long I can't vouch for its durability, but so far I couldn't be happier.
Very easy to use, looks great, nicely finished

Terrible
Artista EM5900don't bother with this model in particular, perhaps sunbeam make better ones in the higher price brackets. if this is the $500 bracket then i'd hate to think what the cheaper models are like.
in short: landfill material
less and less. actually, nothing, i'm getting a breville 800 series instead
i'm just about to take my second replacement back to the store and change it to a breville. the first the heat coil died within 2 months. my replacement is a 'serviceable used part' as the IT industry so nicely calls it. when i got it out o
Good machine
Artista EM5900Received the Artista 4 years ago as a birthday present and have been using it fairly often ever since (it got me through my uni days). It still works like a charm, with very minor leaks from the top of the coffee handle when the brew is coming through, but nothing too much to worry about.
Easy to clean/use
Can be a bit noisy, especially early morning
Fantastic machine for the price
Artista EM5900I received the Artista for Christmas 2010 and it has been fantastic. Makes great coffee, easy to use and froths milk to a treat. This was the first coffee machine that I have owned and I couldn't be happier. Its great design allows us to leave it on the bench. Highly recommend this product. Well done Sunbeam!
Quick, easy to use that allows you the freedom to be experimental with your coffee making.
Nothing. Not sure if it is noisy. I haven't made a habit of listening to other coffee machines when I am out.
Questions & Answers
I have a Sunbeam Artista EM5900 Type 868 and need to replace the washers. Please advise the correct washers for this model and where I can get them. Thanks from a very satisfied user of this coffee machine.
You can find them online thru eBay and other suppliers (if you mean the blue seal), but with this machine the die cast collar that holds the group head in place can distort with lots of hard turning of the group head handle, and even break, and once this happens the leaks won't be stopped by a new seal. :( {it happened to mine}
The blue seal from the 5800 model also fits but is thicker and the group head handle will only just fit, but it does work - you need to undo the screw holding in the showerscreen in the thermoblock to take out the shower screen and get to the blue seal
